I bought one of those in like 1998 for like $500. It was an SI, so injected. It was actually quite clean, and ran and drove like a top. Sold it to a friend that delivered pizza with it.
I choked on my lunch when you still had the car in gear! LOL. I drove a 98 Honda civic for 20 some years & even after it got stolen & recovered. That prelude looks great! I really wish they would go back to these old "molds" vs the bug/bubble shaped SUVs we have now. Great vlog! hf
First time meeting Benny. Showed up on my home page and had to see the prelude! Was hoping it had four wheel steering but better yet it had the luggage rack! Great video, great personality, subscribed!
Subscribed already! Always like and comment! Love the Benny! Love Honda. Cars and motorcycles. Have had 2 Accords, a Civic, an Odyssey, 2 CRV’s and a Pilot. Always fond of the Prelude! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
I love the pop up headlights. :) I have no idea the market value, so I'm going to made a wild stab in the dark at $1250. Hope fully the headgasket and skim will work, if not then I guess a swap for a newer(?) Honda engine might be on the cards?
Cars that have been sitting are like that. Buddy of mine got a very nice car for a low price. It wasn't a very old car, 25 years old or something... Except it had been sitting for a long long time. It started and ran great, passed inspection with flying color. Not even a 100 miles later the suspension started rattling apart because all the rubbers went dry and started disintegrating. A few months later and the suspension was all clackity and loud. Still wasn't a bad car, some new rubbers later and the car was dead reliable, but shows what sitting can do. It looks great at first, then starts falling apart soon after. My personal experience with oldtimers that have been sitting, getting the engine to run is the easy bit. Then you have to replace the entire braking system and a bunch of suspension components. Every coolant hose quickly starts leaking and they usually have corroded grounds causing some weird shenanigans with the lights (brake lights pulsing with the turn signals, dials on the dash doing weird stuff). Always drain the coolant and flush it if you can, 90% of the time some nasties have developed and plug up the radiator or thermostat causing it to overheat. It's a lot of fun if you know what you're getting into, but the romantic stuff from TV where they take a car from a shed and then drive it like nothing ever happened.. Yeah that's rarely a reality :)
Is there a pool going on how many other items get restored before the Datsun (boat, Honda,)? Joking aside don’t envy the time it will take to get the bonnet and frame all sorted
Love your content Boat, motor cycles, all of it. When I was in collage back in the 80's a lot of Hot chicks that had rich dads drive Hondas like that. Too back I never got inside one.
Hey Kentucky Yankee, why don't you show some footage like when removing the filter or more of every process just so we can appreciate more of the work you're doing. If too long, split it in parts.

I may have to deliver pizza's to pay for the repairs! 😔
Thats a luxury upgrade, the chrome luggage rack 😂
The rack is actually what sold it! 😂😂
Yes, you always have interesting projects. Big thanks Benny!!
Thank you Tom, you're one of the regulars I was talking about! Appreciate it!
Another Brill video! You're not frightened of tackling anything! Love the diversity of your vids 👍
Thank you! Hard for me to stay on one thing.

Thank you! Didn't know about the 4 wheel steer on these cars. I'll have to look it up.
Keep up the interesting videos. Dave
Thanks Dave!! Still gotta get the boat out and tweak the timing a little, probably be Spring.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear you're on board with the Prelude!!
Looks like an oldie, but goodie!
Hopefully!
How could you not love The Benny? 1st car was an 85 accord, white with blue interior. I shared it with my sister.
Thanks! I had a grey 1985 Honda Accord years ago, painted it. Never did run right, musta been about 17 years old.
Nice find! Always liked those preludes
Thanks! Part 2 tomorrow morning.
Looks like a good rust free car, Great Honda engine, be like new with a head gasket and carb rebuild, $500 ?
Thanks! I hope you're right, time will tell. I wish it was $500 may have paid too much this time. 😐

You guessed really close, I am thinking the head gasket will fix it. I would bet that's why they stopped driving it.
Mime was 4000$ cdn. They can sell up to 10,000$ cdn
@@86prelude That's what I like to hear!! 😃

So hard to stay on that Datsun!! I will get it done tho, I couldn't resist the Hondawg!
Cool cool!!!
Thanks! More to come
I'm guessing $1500
They were originally asking that for it so you are not too far off
dang, PO gave up after buying all those parts. I guess $495. And you know who I am.
Apparently I over paid for this ride..😔 ..... 😂😂 And of course I know the Honorable Wizard of Mopeds!
Hey mannnnn love the videos don’t stop
Thank you!
Way to boot it! LoL 2:47

Fully Torqued!
Datsun Datsun Datsun ……Honda, for another day please
I hear ya, but I'm in desperate need for a daily driver, still pecking away at the Datsun.
Look on the bright side: it's got great oil pressure!
Exactly!! I love this ride there is no dark side to it!

I'm surprised you wouldn't check the oil and coolant before you bought it?
That wouldn't make a very good video.😂😂
@@kentuckyyankee It is an extremely desirable car, hopefully you didn't pay to much for it
Did you stop working on your trailer? Saw one from 4 years ago and it looks like you forgot about it looking at the fenders in this video.
Yep, it desperately needs a paint job
@@kentuckyyankee I look forward to you picking up that project again
Benny, when are you going to do some more 2 stroke motorcycles. loved the T500, how about a GT750?
I'm overloaded with car and truck projects right now, maybe if one shows up this spring.
You didn't invite me to go 😕
I don't think you were able to go at the time. 😂😂 Are you ready for another road trip?
Mr.Benny, around about $800.00
You're close!
🔧
800 buckaroos!
That's for checking in! You're the closest so far.
That car ran on yogurt.
That's exactly what I wanted to hear! 😂😂
710
Pretty close !
You could fit so many Honda z50s in that shop. It’s huge!!!!
@@vinnyvinson There was one in there at one time. 🙂
You paid too much 😮
The guy that sold it to me thought I paid to little. 😐
$750
I have clearly overpaid ... dang! 😔
Do you still ride?
Yep!
1200
That was asking price, I got him down a little.
750 is what you paid
Ummm...... little more than that. I may have paid too much this time is the general consensus. 😔
