Makes me laugh watching people say "This is different" or "This isn't like Nickelback" when it actual fact this is the sort of music they've been making since the get go 😂 but no one seems to know that May I recommend checking out songs like Midnight Queen, Kiss It Goodbye, The Betrayl (Act III), and This Means War... List goes on
WE MUST SPREAD THE WORD TO THE MASSES!!!!! Haha. I’m the first to admit I was wrong about nickelback! Definitely want to hit up all those tracks! It’s just sad they were so pigeonholed into their radio friendly stuff. They have such a good range.
Please do yourself that favor. Stay away from the played out radio stuff. Go find "Side of a Bullet". It's got a solo from Dimebag Daryl that got recorded and never used.
I am a big fan of nickelback and most people's opinion is formed due to the radio friendly songs they've released most of the heavy stuff is hidden on albums. Its about time they realeased something heavy for public consumption although the next release "those days" reverts to type and I love that song also.
Record Labels are always gonna push the most easily and widely received music. So many times ive heard a single off an album then when I listen to the whole album i feel like there is other songs that shouldve been pushed as singles.
Feel like that’s exactly the same for Creed. They became hated because of pretty much 4 songs being played over and over but where the shine is the album cuts.
Why the eff do people hate them? I don’t get it. These guys kick ass. Always have. Always will. Nicest bunch of guys ever. If all you do is base your opinions on what “others say” it isn’t different at all!!! You know how many songs are heavy like this? My god man. “Burn it to the ground” “coin for the ferryman”. “Follow you home” “never again” “animals” “this means war” my gos the list is huge. Please. For us she hard fans who have loved them from the beginning. This is our normal. But thank you for listening. Maybe it will open your mind to try more of their catalogue.
I already have! Check my channel, I’ve done a few now. And I’m listening to these guys daily now haha. My views were based on the radio play they got. I just wasn’t a fan. Then burn it to the ground was used on WWE and I was like huh…. Didn’t know this was their style. Then since starting this channel, BOOM! All you nickelback fans are sharing other amazing songs by them and they kick ass!
I always laugh a little when people are surprised and say "That's heavy for Nickelback". It really isn't, but based on the radio played songs it seems so. There have always been heavy stuff with the songs played on the radio. A couple of my favorites "Hangnail", "Side of a Bullet "," Never Again", "Coin for the Ferryman ". It's always been there, people just dismissed them because of the radio played songs. So glad you enjoyed! Fan since '96!
Fans since 96!? (googled them, formed in 95) Holy sh!t did not know they had been around for that long! I was 7 when they started...... I'm sorry, that has blown my mind!!!!!
Side of a Bullet will always be my favourite song by them, about one of the biggest tragedies in metal, the taking of Dimebag's life on stage even having an unused solo of his on the song.
yeah, screw the haters, I like Nickleback and always have. I think they are getting alot likes these days than hates, glad to see people coming around more
San Quinten is a prison in California, in case you didn't know. You added a subscriber today for actually doing Nickleback. Looking forward to the next one.
There are five types of Nickleback songs: 1) Anthems... 2) House Party... 3) Reminiscing good times... 4) Social Commentary... 5) Ballads Pretty much every NB song can be mixed and matched ("Photograph" would be a mixture of 3 & 5, "How you remind Me" would be a mixture of 1 & 3,)
The hate has been attributed to an issue between Chad Kroeger & Corey Taylor (from Slipknot), after which it was considered by the 'sheep' to be more acceptable to hate on Nickelback than to form your own opinion and like them. I don't like all of their songs but do really like some of them. Personally I think that listening to some of their songs like Rockstar, Far Away, Photograph, Lullaby, If Today Was Your Last Day, Never Gonna Be Alone and Someday (as examples) needs to be done while watching the video clip with it as each of those has a story that is told through the song so has more impact.
If you were pleasantly surprised with this one I highly recommend you to react to their song "Feed The Machine". My absolute favorite Nickelback song. It has an awesome Alternative Metal and Alternative Rock mixed sound to it that I really love.

OK from my 2nd comment a lot of Nickelback songs are heavy. Back to my 1st point, people that aren't familiar with Nickelback are the ones that make jokes about Nickelback.
And I admit, that was me for years. But then I heard online that San Quentin “was heavy” and I was curious. Now I’m listening to nickelback every day. And I will admit I was wrong about them all these years. In saying that, I’m just not a fan of their radio hits, and that’s just my personal opinion, and that’s fine as I know there is people out there that hate the music I listen to outside of this. Each to their own. 😀
I never sat down and gave them a proper listen. I only knew of their popular radio hits and hearing other peoples opinions. I did however know of one heavier song. the WWE used it for an opening theme for a couple years. Burn It To The Ground I think it’s called? That song is killer.
Nickelback has amazing songs I mean sure there are albums that you might think I’m skipping this song not my favorite like every band but they have a lot of heavy songs that could listen to over and over I do think they really took off at their 3rd album tho cause that album was amazing and seemed like all the rest of the albums after that 3rd album they really took off and you know what I love nickelback have since I was a teen and I even have a saved playlist with about 80 something of their songs in my playlists, and I think people were surprised by their new album cause they did take a 5 year break and when everyone was tired from man made covid nickelback showed up to save the world just when we needed them they showed up lol
I was one of those people. I was never familiar with them. Only what the radio played. And what the radio played was shit. I have discovered so many heavier tracks that are simply amazing!! And also, in the case of animals, heavy and funny! I love that song.
Can anyone explain what is the root for the hate of Nickleback? No one yet has come up up witha legit issue with them. All the people in the video were fans from Vancouver
I saw a video just the other day outlining where it all started…. But I didn’t click on it :( I’ll have to find it again. I think it was by UA-camr SunnyV2
Basically at the end of the 00s Billboard released the top selling acts of the past decade based on their sales data, broke it down by genre, and Nickelback won for hard rock. That shocked and triggered a lot of people. It was more about hating the current state of the rock scene if Nickelback sold more than anybody else for the previous 10 years so Nickelback was an obvious target.
Do a UA-cam search for "Brian Posehn Nickelback" It originated on a late night talk show where Brian Posehn made a negative joke about Nickelback. They weren't very popular at the time. So naturally people looked them up and for some reason people took his joke and ran with it. The rest is history. People hate on Nickelback because it was the trendy thing to do. From the comments here, I would guess their choice in Singles is the problem. Choosing the right songs off of your albums for Singles is hugely important in the marketing of your band. They can give a strong sense of what your band is about, and if all you put out are radio friendly songs that appeal to mostly one or two demographics then you're probably gonna get pigeonholed into a certain frame so-to-speak. So it's a good idea to diversify your Singles. If you're a Rock or Metal band, you're gonna want to put out good hard rockers right away, and then ease into some lighter stuff later on once you gain your fanbase. Because they'll accept the lighter stuff if they still have a good hook and vibe to the songs. Take Guns N Roses for example...they hit the world with Welcome to the Jungle in 1987 and it blew people away. First time anyone heard bluesy rock played that way. Then they released Sweet Child O Mine and Paradise City. Both decent rockers but different than Jungle. Then with the Use Your Illusion albums 4 years later they released November Rain and it was a huge hit despite it being a Power Ballad. With Nickleback, it seems they have released only softer cheesier stuff and they acquired a reputation for it. That's all.
