- This is a 3 part series on cleaning and protecting Louis Vuitton Vachetta Leather using Lovin My Bags and Apple Garde. I had to break it down to multiple parts - it was too long, and you can watch only the Parts that apply to you.
Part I - Protecting New Vachetta using Lovin my Bags.

Btw, they were so beautifully packed I'd wish I didn't have to open the package..lol.. and all the things you need, like microfiber cloths and a sponge also followed in the package.

Today I received the LMB-package, with all the 3 products! I'm really excited and looking forward to using them on especially my new Galliera GM. They cleaned the vachetta for me at the LV-store when I went there to tell them about what I had discovered and didn't like about the bag, and actually it made a difference, though I would have wanted a new bag I don't mind so much annymore that they didn't do that. I love my Galliera now, and think she will be even better after using the LMB-products!
Thanks for responding back so quickly, but I went to Walgreens and purchased huggies hypoallergenic unscented without perfume and i used it....I was very afraid; however it worked and took the grease stain out from my lipgloss!

Great tutorial. I recently bought the neverfull in the monogram canva. I got a very light little spot on the end of the strap, I tried to remove it with a clean cloth and wet wipe. Neither one did the trick for me, it just made it a lot worse and now the spot is a lot bigger and more noticeable then before. Any recommendations?

Does the Apple guard mess up the process of patina in the long run?
I have the perforatted speedy as well, what do you use for it to keep it's shape when you have stuff in there? Mine likes to sag on the bottom when i put things in it

I just purchased the sully MM ( thanks to your amazing review) and My husband grabbed the handle with a wet hand and there is spot on the handle..will lovin my bags get that water stain off? If not do you know if anything will? thanks so much!!

Will this method work with getting lipgloss stain off the handles? Just bought my speedy 3 days ago and I'm so upset and thinking about getting handles replaced. Please help thanks.
@bjtaylor02 I ordered the cleanser and protection and I must say the (cleanser) worked like magic on my the water stain and lightened a small ink stain tremendously, I hope the protection is just as great. Thanks for the recommendation!

does the cleaner remove water stains? i just got a speedy bandouliere and i already got a water stain on it i want to remove it and also protect it against further damage that may happen in the future. Do you think the cleaner and protection with satisfy my needs? i would truly appreciate your feedback. :)
Hi bj just wondering if you have had a incident of water getting on the vachetta, should I do anything to remove it or will it actually blend when it patinas more. Had it since Nov, thx ;)
After seeing your video, I ordered the vachetta cleaner from Loving My Bags. I used it yesterday & finished it today. I used it on my 5 month old Speedy Azur thinking it would elongate the life of my bag, but I think it made it worse. :( My leather is dry & cracking now. What should I do? I just got the bag in January 2012. Thanks!

Hello.. Loved your video. I have one question I bought a brand new LV ARTSY and I purchased the LMB products. I did the new vachetta pre-treatment but I wanted to know before I do it, should I do the conditioner step and then spray it with the apple guard or just skip the conditioner part and spray with apple guard? +Zoe Rafols Personally, I would just use the Apple Garde on the handle. I used the LMB and found that it was difficult to get between the braiding. As a result, I noticed uneven protection and patina if you looked closely between the braids. I am not sure how Apple Garde and LMB work together so I cannot comment on that part.
I'm waiting my 30 minutes on the cleansing part.... I have to say my heart stopped a little bit at first rub coz the handle darkened but after buffing it returned to almost the original color and I'm hoping after 30 minutes it'll return to normal!!! Holding my breath!!!!

Not sure. It depends on the age of the stain, how deep, etc. I have had good success lightening and removing water stains using LMB.
Fantastic videos! I own 9 LV pieces, and your video on the artsy has convinced me to add it to my collection.
I'm just wondering about patina. Like you, I prefer my lv when they start to age. I have never used any product on the vachetta, but I am thinking that I might try a protectant on my new artsy. A couple of my other bags need some love, so I will be using a cleaner to fix them up.
The question I have is now that this video is a couple of years old, have you noticed that the protectant has slowed or changed the patina process at all? I will be 'sunning' the bag to advance the patina. I have read mixed reviews about both how the leather ages after treating and also that the LMB creates spots and streaking.

Thanks for watching! LMB changed their formulation after I made this video and they had problems with the conditioner on brand new, virgin vachetta. They have since added a step for brand new vachetta. I will say if you decide to pretreat the Artsy handle I would go with the Apple Garde. I used LMB and noticed after a year that I had missed a few spots between the braid and the patina was not even. That being said, I didn't notice until I examined it very closely. As a result, I would recommend the Applegarde for the handle. As far as if it affects the patina, I have not noticed a difference. Like you, I sunbathe new vachetta to move the process along. The patina on all the bags I have treated is even. Hope that helps :)
The bag was about 5 months old. Once I conditioned it, it was back to normal.

how often can you can your bags with the cleanser?
Now I don't know what to do... I applied the pre-treatment to my artsy bag but haven't done anything else. Should I just spray it with the apple guard and be done with it?

+Zoe Rafols I have never used pre-treatment and Apple Garde together. If you got even coverage with the pre-treatment, I would continue with the LMB products. The next time you could try Apple Garde.
absolutely love your vidoes... and everytime I buy a bag, I check your reviews. UAE LV used to clean bags but they stopped the offer. Now, I am having problems with my LV Turenne GM. Since I put a lot of things and mostly heavy, the brass part is a bit messes. How can I clean it, can I use brass cleaner?
+ash111588 you can use Brasso to clean the hardware. Protect the canvas and surrounding leather.

Just discovered your channel - I love your videos! I've been searching for a pre-owned Courtney Multicolor MM in white and I think I've finally found one at a reasonable price...HOWEVER, there are "water stains" on the bottom and side of the vachetta. Do you think this cleanser will fix it or at least diminish them considerably?
Vanessa Falkenstern I have used LMB to significantly lighten and in some cases remove stains on the vachetta. It is worth a try - get the Courtney if you truly love it and will still love it even if you cannot completely remove the stain. That is what I did with my Noe. :)

I did not use any pre-treatment on my bag.. can i still use the vachetta cleanser to clean off stains? will it be effective on untreated bags?
LMB has changed the formulation since I made this video. They added a pre-treatment for brand new vachetta. I would recommend you contact LMB to ask them as I am not sure how the change affects application and the order you use the products.

I noticed after using the cleaner, my bag is now matte. Do you know how to get that shine back? That smooth gloss coating that was there? I regret cleaning it now.

I have called LV Custom Services, they said do not clean anything with any products and especially do not pre-treatment to the new Vachetta. If the bag gets dirty just bring it back to store.
amanda cross LV does not offer cleaning services. They will replace leather (at a cost). Damaged canvas cannot be replaced or repaired.
Hi BJ! SO.... I bought the LMB and after watching this video series about THREE times, I FINALLY felt ready to use the kit on my brand new virgin vachetta. The only question I have for you is why you said to wait for 24 hours before the last step of applying the conditioner? I realize this video is 4 years old, but in Barbara's paper instructions included with the kit, it refers to the hair dryer use, (which I ignored and just let dry like you did in the video) but says nothing about waiting 24 hrs overnight on that last step. Am I missing something? Please advise me and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! Without you, I wouldn't have the guts to put ANYTHING on that vachetta - I would have had to rent space in a museum for it! LOL
I would go with the current instructions. The kit and formulation has changed since the posting of this video 😃. I believe they have added a separate product to be used on brand new vachetta since this video as well.
I would also keep an eye on an expiration dates on the products. They old products did go bad and could cause a color change on the vachetta if used well after expiration. They may have adjusted the formulation to prevent this.
A couple of things are happening already.... I treated one side of the shoulder strap with the exact instructions that I was given and there's a tiny spot that formed in one area which I guess is why they always say use it on an inconspicuous area first but it's REALLY weird.... it came out of nowhere... it makes me question if maybe this bag was used before I got it, if it was purchased by someone who kept it and returned it before the time was up but maybe wore it in their house testing it, putting their personal things in it or something like that with it being touched, because I had a suspicion of that when I bought it brand-new from the store. The interior lining had a couple of little tiny white specks like lint inside the bag on the purple lining, (it's the Turenne) and it looked like it was in perfect mint condition otherwise, but I just had a weird spider sense feeling about it in my mind, like maybe someone had it for a while handling it a bit and returned it. I mean this spot came out of NOwhere on the underside of the shoulder strap that I'm treating. I have only looked at this bag twice since I purchased it and left it in its dust bag in the box in my closet until now. You had spoken with me before on one of these videos because I was telling you about the quality on a speedy B30 in mono that had the wrinkled and warped Vachetta leather and ever since you told me that they have a lot of quality issues, I have been noticing left and right how many problems they have by reading the purse forum and also realizing how many people buy these bags and probably mess around with them for a month and then return them or exchange them.... I can't tell you how pissed off I am, because like I said, I haven't even LOOKED at it more than twice over the course of the past month and now I went to treat it, followed the instructions precisely to the T and it created that little spot on the strap underside. Now I'm afraid to treat the rest of the Vachetta on the entire bag because of this.....I can't BELIEVE how crappy their service and attitudes can be also. I have read some customer service nightmare stories on the purse forum and here on UA-cam and when I noticed those little specks of lint inside the bag at the store, I started trying to pick them out and I kind of turned the bag upside down and the SA was saying oh that's nothing you're just seeing the sparkles from the liner... it has like a glittery look to it inside and while it DOES sparkle a bit, those were clearly specks of lint like someone had put something in there before, and she totally tried to ignore my concern about it. Since I had three to choose from, that one looked like it was in the most mint condition because as you may know, the Turenne has those side pieces that can eventually roll up on the sides and I wanted one that had those already fairly tightened down to the sides to begin with, at least to start out....Man, I am SO frustrated.
Oh yeah, and one other thing, I was very very aware of the fact that there is an issue with loving my aware of the fact that there is an issue with LMB products causing a problem or they were expired because I saw a video of someone who said it turned her Vachetta a really darker shade, so when you said that, I thought to myself I didn't even notice any on there??? I just looked at all of my items and not a single one of them has an expiration date on them....
It looks like the gloss of the handle is gone after the cleaning.
Yeah. I believe that's why some people don't clean nor protect vachetta leather and instead are just careful with it, letting the elements take their course over time.
