- This is a 3 part series on cleaning and protecting Louis Vuitton Vachetta Leather using Lovin My Bags and Apple Garde. I had to break it down to multiple parts - it was too long, and you can watch only the Parts that apply to you.
Part I - Protecting New Vachetta using Lovin my Bags.
Part II - Cleaning Vachetta Leather using Lovin My Bags (older bags, pre-loved bags, well - loved bags). The cleaner will NOT return very dark handles to light again.

Patina is very beautiful. Its so even and natural. I don't mind getting patina but I just feel mine speedy vachetta had wrinkled alittle at the tabs. The gold brass at the handle and lock were no longer shiny. Its quite badly tarnished:(
hi BJ, can you please make a video on how to Pretreat / Clean the Artsy handle? I know there are a lot of Artsy lover including me who would want to see how you pre treat the braided your Artsy handle. I got a new Artsy and have'nt use it yet bec. I want to pretreat the vachetta first but im so terrified to try myself.There are a lot of videos on pretreating the speedy and other LV strap bag but none with the Artsy. Thank you so much for these 3 videos bj, I just ordered the LMB-kit, hoping to clean and/or protect my Mono-bags. Especially I plan on using the products on my new Galliera - just gently - but hopefully it will make the vachetta look a little cleaner, and also make the bag more resistant against dirt marks and mybe make it feel a little stronger, especially the strap which really feels very soft and delicate. Thank you. This is very helpful. I don't want to use apple guard spray on the limited edition speedy so knowing that I can buff the creme version of the protector right on to the vachetta is very comforting. Thanks once again. handbaglvr I have the artsy and I just treated the handle today with the Lmb cleanser and protector. It's already patina but I had a couple stains. It was hard to get into the crevices. I used the microfiber cloth it came with.
I treated my Artsy with LMB. I did not notice the stains until much later. I decided to treat with Apple Garde instead.
Great video! I know this video is 9 years old, do you still recommend doing this with a new bag? I just received my repaired petite noe and I have the whole lovin my bags line, but I am afraid to put anything on the leather
Hello again! I've been searching the Internet for an unbiased answer but no luck! I have noticed some color transfer on the trim of my delightful and on the keepall strap I use with it. Have you noticed this on yours? Does the LMB protect vachetta from color transfer? Thank u so much!! Youre the LV guru!!
Hey bj, how about canvas? Is there a way to pretreat the canvas so that there's no cracking? And then there's the microfiber linings of the bags. Can't believe that the sales associate was NOT more helpful at advising on care of their very product. Louis Vuitton has been the only designer bag I've been attracted toward. It took me sooooooo many years to save up for these items and I really want to use them to the max. I notice that I use my pochette nm and Emilie wallet all the time. They have the least leather. You make it look so easy. I shall indeed look into the LMB products. Thank again for ALL your videos. Awesome!!
Hey bj, Thanks so much for your visuals on how to "care"- take the lv. I'm somewhat new to the lv family and have been terrified to take out my LV due to NOT having, "prepped" them, ie, pre-cared for them. I have the delightful mm and the estrella mm ad well as several "accessory" pieces... Eva Clutch, Pochette nm, Emile Wallet, and my most recent, 2014 milla Clutch. I want to "care-take," prep them for usage, and don't feel secure in utliizing them. You've been such an inspiration over the last year and a half. Thank you. Please Advise. Ele Bear
As the videos show you can use Lovin My bags or Apple garde. If your bags are brand new vachetta - there is an additional step that Lovin My bags recommends for virgin vachetta. See their website and ask questions they are very helpful. The Apple Garde is also very easy to use and is one step.

the protection and the conditioner/ soil release products are for to use before using the bag and the cleaner use when it's need to clean???

Do you think I should go on and treat the leather straps at some point, anyway? I also have a Speedy 30 and I got it preloved...how often would you recommend cleaning/protecting this bag? LMB Vachetta is for new vachetta only or it can also be used for vachetta with patina(For my old LV bags)? Thanks

Hi I'll like to ask some qns. 1) Applying LMB vachetta protection on the handles of my brand new bag, will it cause the leather to turn patina faster or easily?
2) My speedy is 2 years+ old now, brought it for professional bagspa twice. Leather handles & trims has turn patina. Can the vachetta set helps to improve & maintain it's condi? I'm quite upset that my speedy has aged, is it rather quickly as it is only 2 years+ old.

I had a concern about my vachetta, I used Apple Garde on my Delightful GM, and on the handle where my Louis Vuitton stamp is it is severely darker then the rest of the handle. it has a gorgeous patina it's just my stamp stands out, I haven't seen many on youtube with a patina on them that show the handle, so I don't know if this is normal. It seems to look like the stamp soaked up the Apple Garde and didn't dry normal like on the rest of my handles any ideas on why ? or if I did something wrong

I recieved my LV nevrfull gm a week ago and I would like to protect it. It already had some light dirty marks from rubbing against my clothes. When you you protect your delightful Gm did you use the pre-treatment? and did you notice that the product helped with lifting some light dirty? Ive been contacting the LMB website and some agents have been a little helpful but then some have completely taken my questions off track making it much more confusing than it has to be. Please help if you can.
I have an 8 month old LV Palermo, the vachetta is still fairly light. I noticed a few small water marks and a grayish ark wear the metal has rubbed. I'm going to order the LMB 4 PC set. I don't know what steps to use on the bag since I like the light/ new looking vacheta . I don't want to darken it with cleanser . But I definitely want to prevent further staining. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all the information and impressive bag collection:)
Hi! Is the LMB creams only to be used on the vachetta?
I have removed some spots with Lovin my Bags. Call customer service at LMB and speak with them for specific recommendations for new untreated vachetta.

Hi again! I have another question about the LMB products vs. Apple Guard. Over time, what have you noticed about how protective they each are? I'm curious about long term effects of protecting your bags with both of these products, especially since LV doesn't recommend it (why is that, by the way?) Yeah, I'm nervous both ways! For a $1,500 dollar bag, I don't want to get spots on it and I don't want to baby it, either! But how long have you had the two products on your bags? Curious about long term effects of using them and if there are any consequences since LV tells you not to use it.

Do you have any recommendations for removing stains on newly untreated vachetta leather? I just bought the sully mm nearly a month ago, and already have 2 water/oil spots on the handle and am soooo upset about it. Is there anything I can do to try any get these stains out?
I'm having the same problem with my monogram Montaigne. :( I bought the lovin my bag set but I won't do anything until I research some more. It's new and untreated with water stains.

I have used Lovin my Bags to remove or lighten waterspots. If it is a brand new bag with virgin vachetta I would contact Lovin My bags (Barbara) and ask them which products to use.
Hello! Can you please tell me if treating a brand new LV bag will stop the patina process? I want to use it on the vachetta but I also want it to oxidize with time. I eventually want that nice golden honey. Please advice! Thank you! Xx
suckerlove11 it will not stop the patina process. Patina is a result of exposure to light and oils. 😃

Great informative video. When you treat a new bag, have you noticed stitching changing color?
I have not noticed the stiching changing color.
Did you treat your Artsy or do you think it's too complicated of a handle to even mess with?
I treated my handle with LMB. However, I did not notice until much later than there were small uneven stains in between the braided handle. So, I treated it after that with Apple Garde. The Apple Garde can go in between the braid on the handle without leaving a stain.

Hi, I'm sorry to bother you again but I have a question about the lovin my bags vachetta pre treatment product... Is it necessary? I think you could only use the vachetta protection product. It doesn't seem that it needs a pre treatment to protect a bag.
+Pamela Castro The pre-treatment product was created because people were having issues with treating new vachetta - the previous products were causing streaking, possibly because of a change in the LV vachetta. As a result, LMB came up with the pre-treatment which they highly recommend on treating brand new or virgin vachetta. If you are not treating brand new vachetta then pre-treatment may not be necessary. You can email Barbara who is the owner of LMB and ask her specifics. :)

Hello! I'm having a difficult time finding LMB products. I'm in Canada and on ebay.ca with the exchange rate it is expensive and they don't have much to offer. I have contacted Barbara on her website for LMB and have called her and she never gets back to me via email or by phone and the number on the website for Canadian purchases is incorrect (it's a private residence). Please help me find some to purchase! Can anyone tell me where else I can buy some? TIA :)

Martha Drozario I have no experience with Apple care. I have used Apple Garde and Lovin My bags. I recommend both.
Some say the conditioner can darken the vachetta.. did it do that on your leather?
I prefer a patina on my bags so I actively work on the patina. So, I am probably not the person to ask.
I just bought the New neverfull mm with fusia lining, will it help with color transfer? I have had some color transfer I'm hoping once my bag patinas it won't be noticeable.
It can help to remove color transfer. Not sure if it will protect the vachetta from getting additional transfer.
Thank you for this informative series. When you use the Apple repellant is it necessary to use any other protective products on new bachata in order to help it patina evenly and stay light longer or is the apple care enough on its own?
I use Apple Garde by itself and it has worked well 😄

The vachetta cleaner and protection products are probably better suited than the new vachetta products. I would ask LMB which products they recommend from their current line :)

Wondering why LV associates do not recommend protecting LV bags. LV is actually against it.

It is the same with all manufacturer of leather goods...they do not want the liability associated with leather care issues - It took us at Lovin My Bags 2 years and many hides to finally develop a Pre-Treatment that would protect and not darken the Vachetta leather ...The truth is that leather is the most complicated "substrate/fabric" to work with...

I just bought an Artsy and was wondering if these products will work well on the braided handle.
Priscila Moreyra I used it on my Artsy but I recommend using the Apple Garde. The LMB cream is hard to get in between the braid thoroughly, so there were spots that were uneven between the braiding. The Apple Garde spray dries almost instantly and gets between the braiding much better. JMO

Priscila Moreyra If you want to use the Apple Garde you don't have to use the pre-treatment. If you plan to use the LMB, you should do the pre-treatment if that is the one you use on new vachetta. LMB changed their products after I made this video. Check with Barbara at LMB to see if this is the correct product to use on virgin vachetta. :)

I love your video. I do have a question. I have a brand new Speedy and already have water marks. I also have to preloved bags that I wanted to cleanse and condition. Is there any harm in me using the cleanser to remove the water stains off my new speedy verses using the pre-treatment?

If it is virgin vachetta there is a pre treat that you may have to use. Contact LMB and ask Barbara 😃

Does the apple brand cleaner darkens the vachetta?
Pamela Castro It might slightly darken the patina, but I can't say for sure since I want the vachetta to patina and I place my vachetta bags in the sun to hasten the patina process. Patina also helps to naturally protect the vachetta.
