Is this legal in high school? I’m asking because we have a rule where on top we can’t bend their leg for more than 5 secs or else it gets called for stalling

Yes. We have that same rule in Florida, but that’s for the position where you’re on top and you’re trapping (or bringing) their ankle to their butt as a way to ride. It’s not allowed because you aren’t actually working for a turn

Yes, the most common thing, with so many wrestlers, is to have a potential Turk but they just let it go, as if having won the takedown there must be a reset to a parallel position on top. But it’s not two phases, there is continuity, and the chain wrestling technique of taking advantage of the Turk when you have it at the end of takedown and in the transition to the ride phase, should be a coaching target and should be baseline for intelligent wrestling. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a wrestler on top just let it go, as if there was no value in what obviously has huge value for the wrestler on top. I’m so excited and happy to see this careful demonstration of the trap Turk followup after takedown. It’s likely because wrestlers don’t know what to do with a Turk that they don’t keep it and use it. Now no one can fail to know what to do, because of this video. You are the greatest, coach! Thank you!!

Referees in high school PA would almost surely call potentially dangerous. Would be shocked to see this used regularly in high school. All the guy needs to do is squeal and ref would stop in high school.

Most likely not from what I’ve seen, but I can see a ref who is unfamiliar with the position calling it

Can you use this position for continuous nearfall, similar to crossfacing with a leg in? Or do you have to give up the position entirely before they give points?

The only key traps that existed when I wrestled were hooking an ankle when you were in top and opponent was in so 4's or riding their legs (like this idea used to throw in the splits... These techniques weren't discovered until years later.....I would have loved to have this in my bag!!

It seems that some fans are not wrong in American wrestling and to win you can hurt the body part, in these pictures the leg is under pressure and it is dangerous.!!!!

I wanted to focus on greco. But to be a well rounded wrestler in life you have to be able to attack the legs effectively. Especially as a lighter weight fighting heavier fighters.

I saw this at a camp last month and the coach came back later and said that it was illegal in HS and to wait until college to use it.
It would be nice if a knowledgeable and competent referee would chime in.

I suspect some of these examples would get called for potentially dangerous in H.S. The knee pressure is strong b/c you can put your whole body weight against the leg. Plus, the angle is awkward.
It is a slick move otherwise. Love the breakdowns keep them coming.
