The principle of distillation simplified. The sign of intelligent people. Thank you.
But the yield will be low
One of the best short DIY videos ever. Absolutely top-notch quality - well done!
This is awesome, and so concise! I clicked on this video because it was the shortest one and I was not disappointed.
Sometimes I click the shortest one and it’s too short and confusing so sometimes I go for the second shortest, but in this case, that was like a difference of 10 minutes.
Yours was excellent was not confused at all despite its shortness 10 out of 10 keep up the good work you are awesome
This will make a newbie look like an expert essential oil maker overnight!
Yes, I am talking about myself. Thank you!
what a smart and inexpensive way to make literal eo and not just infused! I luv this & thk u so much for sharing!
I feel sorry for everyone taking this seriously. With this method there would be no potency. People will just waste all their plants. You need to use alcohol to extract the benefitial coumpounds of the plant. 1.Fill your mason jar with your plant. 2.Fill the Jar with Vodka. 3. Put lid on and put in cupboard and shake 3 times a day for a week. 4.Empty the liquid in a large surface container & put it in the freezer (Only the esential oil will freeze not the vodka). 5. Collect whats on the surface, that's your essential oil. 6.You're done, ENJOY !
Pls, what other alcohols can we use besides vodka?
Can I reuse the alcohol afterwards to do the process again with other stuff?
This is a great idea, I'm going to try it
@@blade374 It didn’t work for me just fiy. It was just all liquid even after freezing it for a week in a wide dish
@@subahnasrinawal7196 any alcohol that doesn’t freeze
This is called - making work easier. Gracias

I wish i could. i alway wish to know how to make those now i know
@@justhyped9933 Okay.
This is amazing. Your video help me realised that there is other way to make something with simplified method and utensil if we put our mind on it. Very exciting. Thank you for sharing!
keep this mindset!
Finally! I video with right procedure....thanks a ton..
Wonderful instructions but I’m concerned about the handle of the top being plastic and getting so hot. I’m thinking some plastics will contaminate the oil.
This is the best tutorial I’ve found!! Thank you so much! About how much oil did you get from this?
It depends on your ingredients.
@@diyNaturalVideos What would you do to make the essential oil smell light, fruity and really really good?
@@brockbennett2560 Citrus rinds.
And is it safe to inhale when the fragrance is light?
@@brockbennett2560 We'll allow you to do your own safety research.
I believe using the high pressurer would be even better.
Interesting!
The best DIY I've watched so far.
Thank you. I got a bunch of mints growing in the garden this year and wanted to know how i could turn them into oils for stuff. I usually just make tea or toss them into baked goods
He must have used a pressure cooker, because I don’t see a hole in the top of his crockpot. Tried with an actual crockpot last night. Wasted months of mint.
As someone who wants to start making aromatherapy essential oils for a hobby, I wonder if I could take parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, put them all together and do this same exact thing to make a 4 in 1 oil.
I saw another video and this guy put a whole bunch of different plants together and still made essential oils so I think that’d be a good idea just maybe keep the measurements the same
Life saver for a young business owner 💕
how do you advertise your essential oils?
This tutorial was amazing!
Very interesting method. For the orange and cinnamon version, how many orange peels and cinnamon sticks do you recommend for that amount of water?
How about putting a small plate where the water droplets fall from the lid so it will be easier and more efficient
So easy! Thank you!👍❤️☺️
Awesome ! Thanks for sharing this !
Wow thank you so much for this ❤️
Followed all the steps but nothing happened. Any advice?
Thank you for sharing! I was looking for a way to extract the essential oil without an entire distillation apparatus. You've made it so much easier and it totally made sense! On a side note, can we put a bowl in the middle to collect the condensation and just store the condensed liquid in the fridge then extract the oil that way to get the leaves/pedals out of the way?
Sure but you’d loose some then innet, unless practically all the water/oil condenses into the bowl
why crock pot and not regular pot? To save all the steam?

Didn't condense like in the video in the fridge? Did they put it in the freezer?
Brilliant!! 💎
Amazing! Thank you so much!
I know you pulled the oils from the leaves but did you add anything else to this and then what did you do with the leaves?
If you transfer the liquid to another container do you still need the plant or just strain it?
Hi I'm late to this video, but can you use dried herbs for this ? Or do only fresh herbs work ?
Wow, thanks! 😊👍
This is simpler than distillation process
Amazing! Love it!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you!
Is this recipe investable ?
I love this beautiful video so much 💗 however, I don't have a crock pot, but I'm still very much interested in making this. Any tips? And thanks again ☺️
Go to any thrift store, they'll have crock pots for super cheap and they'll work fine.

Awesome! Can you do this process via stovetop pot?
I’m sure you could. Theres not much of a difference you’ll just have to be more careful to control the temperature
THANK YOU!!
maybe a bit of an unusual question but can i do the same with coffee beans and chilli?
Please tell us if you have done this method and if it works
I can’t afford it to fail because I don’t have enough plant material waste
Thanks 😊
Does this work on my car, appreciate the work bud!
I tried this with lemongrass but it doesnt seem like it coagulated to make that oil on top (it’s been in my fridge over night) - did i miss something?
Its not you - I don't think this process works well.
What plant are you using ???
Anyone have any tips for this method? Just pruned a couple lavender plants and some different kinds of mint, cooked them both for 4 hours cool overnight. Got the most minuscule amount of mint oil i couldn’t harvest and the lavender did nothing.
Trying another batch now hopefully this one works better !
I did basil leaves and got Nothing.... wonder what went wrong?
@@InAddition... So I tried one more batch, a mix of Peppermint and Pineapple mint for about 5-6 hours. I got the most oil yet little dots all around the top of the crock pot, but it wasn’t white and solid like the video just a separation of oil.
With some more research and a reading of a university trial of Distillation vs Enfluerage of Peppermint, I discovered that in a still oil production peaks and then levels out at around 8 hours once to temperature.
Along with that different cultivars will drastically affect oil production, mainly why you see peppermint and spearmint so popular. First two tries with Eau de Cologne mint made no oil at all for me, and i’m growing Hidecote Blue lavender for the look vs most people grow Grosso’s for their oil production.
Once my Peppermint is ready for cuttings again i’m going to try one more time with a crockpot before looking into an actual steam still. I’ll try 7-8 hours cooking and i’ll put the pot into the freezer once cool to try and solidify the oil more.
@@nendouuu2443did you do it a 3rd time for 7-8 hours and did it work?
@@maggiemae8110 Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Only thing I can think at this point is my crock pot doesn’t hold enough material to give me a decent yield.
My original goal was to use what I prune to make oils to scent candles with, rather than just throw it out. Next time I prune i’ll be just cooking the plant material in a carrier oil, as I believe this is a much more DIY friendly approach. You are guaranteed to capture the scent into the carrier oil, if you need a stronger smell just throw more material in the pot. It may not be “pure distilled oil” but at least i’ll be able to actually use it for something.
@@nendouuu2443Hi, what is the process for doing it with a carrier oil?
Can I do the same with 🌹 or peony
Hello would this work with a instapot? I don't have a crock pot! If yes, how do you suggest?
I think you can use a pressure cooker for this?
can this also be used as liquid hand soap?:’) using and making for experimental research
I am going to give it a try
Did you try it? Has it worked?
How do you do it with lemons and other citrus fruits? Lemon essential oil is what I’m after. 🍋
Can it be done in a regular steel utensil with a lid on top.
Yes
I am speechless, how to easy to make this EO
hey this didn"t work for me, any idea why or what I did wrong?
should the water start to cook?
Brilliant 🥋
Can I use a regular pot as I don't have this?
How much that make and the leaves I wonder if u put oil in jar n put the leaves in few day would make more oil
I hope electric stove and a pot is applicable for this😊..
Is it normal to not smell the mint adter it has been cooking and before it solidifies on top?
can i use this method for dandelion oil? do you know how i would go about that? thank you for this video!
I wonder can I use dry flowers? Or does it have to be flesh?
Essential oils are volatile you are wasting a big amount of oil using this method
What method do you recommend
Do u have to boil it?
Where can I buy the pot?
How about enfleurage?
Whats the name if the leave
Can you make this with mango?
can someone tell me what plants are used in this video
This is Great 👍
How much herbs and water to make 2 oz or 4 oz?
hello @DIYNatural , can i use a rice-cooker instead of crock-pot?, and how to use it as a substitute?
Yes, as long as the temperature gets hot enough to distillate the water.
is the oil food grade?
woww thank you2x for this.
is this also work for orange peel?
You're welcome, and yes you can! For the citrus, you use the peels. Try to get as much of the pith off as you can. The water will soak into it making the oil extraction harder to do. The left over water can be used like a hydrosol, just be sure to use it in a few days, or you can use it in place of the water when making soap. You could also use it to water plants. I use mine in the garden or compost it a lot.
this is genius
Could I put it in the freezer to make the process quicker? Or no
If you make it with water the water will freezer in the freezer. If you make it with alcohol only the oil will freeze.
Which crockpot do you use?
This is amazing! Thank you! Question: Are you able to use the leftover water for anything?
Sure you can! We use the water that is left over to make soap all the time. Just strain it and be sure it’s cool.
I’m still learning this process but in distillation the leftover water is considered hydrosol when your steam distilling(which is very useful) so this process hopefully is the same?
What is the best plant for this to have a fragrant smell ? Just asking
Lavender, Rose, Peppermint, depend on the fragrance you want or the health benefits you need.
Only crockpot will do? Can we use other cooking pots?
We make ours this way. We're not sure what will happen if you try something different. If you do, let us know how it turns out.
When is the best time to harvest pine needles for a more fragrant pine essential oil ? Thank you.
Since most of the essential oil resides in the needles, buds, and twigs, I would harvest in Springtime. Although I'm not sure the time of year makes any difference.
@@diyNaturalVideos ...thank you....another question pls.....using my copper still, I seemed to only get hydrosol & no oil came out. Did I use too much water in my boiler pot or can there be other reasons for no oil ? Thank you, I appreciate your advice, tips. 💜
@@normabussey2254 We have never used a still so we're not sure.
Were is the real oil
Do you think this method would work with coffee? Desperate to find a recipe to make a pure essential oil with coffee rather than an infusion.
What is the plant name
does this method also work on orange peel? if so can you make a tutorial on it or is the process all just the same
Yes you can.
@@diyNaturalVideos Thanks!
Why must it be a coloured glass container? Why not a clear one?
Amber glass blocks some of the sunlight which prevent degradation of the oil

Is it basil leaves or mint leaves
Mint.
What is distilled water and where do you get it?
It's water that's been purified. You should be able to buy it at a pharmacy
You can find it almost any grocery or retail store
Is it okay to use normal water instead of distilled water
Distilled has less contaminants. You can give it a shot, all water sources are different so we cannot say if your water is usable.
@@diyNaturalVideos what about reputable brand bottled up water?
@@psychedelicsoul8438 NO. What's reputable ? Multi-millionaire evil corporations ? It doesn't mean there is no contaminants. You need distilled water because you need clean water. Distilled means Without impurities. You can buy distilled water at grocery store, pharmacy, any big stores. If you have a good water filtration system at home you can try that too but your No tap water is clean enough.
I love it but why distilled water ?
👍👍👍
I followed all the steps and I just ended up with frozen rose water…
can we use normal purified water instead of distilled water?
We have not tried. Give it a shot and let us know how it works.
