This is awesome, and so concise! I clicked on this video because it was the shortest one and I was not disappointed.
Sometimes I click the shortest one and it’s too short and confusing so sometimes I go for the second shortest, but in this case, that was like a difference of 10 minutes.
Yours was excellent was not confused at all despite its shortness 10 out of 10 keep up the good work you are awesome

I feel sorry for everyone taking this seriously. With this method there would be no potency. People will just waste all their plants. You need to use alcohol to extract the benefitial coumpounds of the plant. 1.Fill your mason jar with your plant. 2.Fill the Jar with Vodka. 3. Put lid on and put in cupboard and shake 3 times a day for a week. 4.Empty the liquid in a large surface container & put it in the freezer (Only the esential oil will freeze not the vodka). 5. Collect whats on the surface, that's your essential oil. 6.You're done, ENJOY !

On a side note, can we put a bowl in the middle to collect the condensation and just store the condensed liquid in the fridge then extract the oil that way to get the leaves/pedals out of the way?

Anyone have any tips for this method? Just pruned a couple lavender plants and some different kinds of mint, cooked them both for 4 hours cool overnight. Got the most minuscule amount of mint oil i couldn’t harvest and the lavender did nothing.

@@InAddition... So I tried one more batch, a mix of Peppermint and Pineapple mint for about 5-6 hours. I got the most oil yet little dots all around the top of the crock pot, but it wasn’t white and solid like the video just a separation of oil.
With some more research and a reading of a university trial of Distillation vs Enfluerage of Peppermint, I discovered that in a still oil production peaks and then levels out at around 8 hours once to temperature.
Along with that different cultivars will drastically affect oil production, mainly why you see peppermint and spearmint so popular. First two tries with Eau de Cologne mint made no oil at all for me, and i’m growing Hidecote Blue lavender for the look vs most people grow Grosso’s for their oil production.
Once my Peppermint is ready for cuttings again i’m going to try one more time with a crockpot before looking into an actual steam still. I’ll try 7-8 hours cooking and i’ll put the pot into the freezer once cool to try and solidify the oil more.

@@maggiemae8110 Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Only thing I can think at this point is my crock pot doesn’t hold enough material to give me a decent yield.
My original goal was to use what I prune to make oils to scent candles with, rather than just throw it out. Next time I prune i’ll be just cooking the plant material in a carrier oil, as I believe this is a much more DIY friendly approach. You are guaranteed to capture the scent into the carrier oil, if you need a stronger smell just throw more material in the pot. It may not be “pure distilled oil” but at least i’ll be able to actually use it for something.

@@psychedelicsoul8438 NO. What's reputable ? Multi-millionaire evil corporations ? It doesn't mean there is no contaminants. You need distilled water because you need clean water. Distilled means Without impurities. You can buy distilled water at grocery store, pharmacy, any big stores. If you have a good water filtration system at home you can try that too but your No tap water is clean enough.
