IF PARTICLES are contained within boundaries of a text layer then use SOLID COMPOSITE and set OPACITY to 0% instead of cc composite. For updated after effects users.

amazingly well explained, thank you! The only thing is that I am having the same problem as another comment, the particles are bound within the text box, tried precomposing but didn't work, bit stuck
Hi, thanks for the reply, I managed to open the handles to the edges of the composition which worked but now the alpha part doesn't make the particles stick to the letters, never mind. 🙏
Another awesome tutorial. I learned this effect sometime ago. But the tutorial I used was around 30 mins long. You manage to do a better tutorial in 5 minutes.
Thank you 😊 I'm super glad you enjoyed. I always try to make tutorials as short as possible, because I myself hate when tutorials are unnecessarily long and half of the video is silent thinking on the next step or stuff like mm, hmm, alright and such 😁 Thanks for the support 😊
Mate I want to shake your hands right now! This is the first AE Tutorial that made me think "Yes, I can use it!". It worked perfectly and you made my day. Well...my night since it's 2am😂HUGE THANKS AND INSTANTLY SUBBED!
Thank u,.. your tutorial is very simple to understand and also you're simplifying by telling which thing will happen by using each tool thanks a lot make more videos like this
Thank you! I had NO idea that After Effects could do this! I mostly use it for monochrome work but have recently gotten into streaming and want to make an awesome "BRB" screen. Sadly, trying to use this with more than one word is more difficult...
hey! awesome tutorial, everything i did worked besides the fact that when I did this it only applies the dust within the text box and not the composition as a whole, i followed step by step so not sure if AE updated it out of existence the way you showed here but is there something I maybe missed? Thanks and great vid!
Good tutorial, question... when I add the effects to the text, it crops to the size of the text and not all the composition, do you know why? (sorry for my english, it os not my first language)
I was looking for such tutorial which can teach me to create particles without third party plugin. A very easy tutorial completed just in 5 minutes. You not only complete the project but also explain what each option in the effect plays its role. It is marvelous. Can you please tell how can I convert it to reveal instead of wipe?
Thank you for the compliment 😊 Well it I don't think I could explain that in a comment, but try something as simple as reversing the time, so it would be a reveal instead 😁 might be too basic though, still an idea💡
I've done this effect before and it worked before hand but going about this now, my sand particles aren't flowing outside of the text box section... any way to fix this?
Hey, thanks so much for this tutorial. I am working on a project and wanted to emulate this style of animation. Is there anyway we can make different parts of the dissolve fade in different directions at the same time? Almost as if it's breaking apart
Hey, thanks for commenting. Not with this particular method, shatter effect with a custom shatter map could create such an effect, or maybe a trapcode particular plugin which is paid, that's a downside. Here is shatter & break tutorial hope it gives you an idea: ua-cam.com/video/aRKS5lKecU4/v-deo.html
Buddy this is my first after effects learning video total begginer to it. It was really easy for me to understand it. Could you tell me how to create this as a plugin so that I dont need to apply so many settings everytime. I am able to create this dust to sand effect but i want to make it as a plugin so that i can easily just by clicking the plugin add animation to my text
Hey! Thank you for the tutorial! Can I just ask you if I can apply this to a whole text composition or if I have to redo the entire process for every text one by one?
To expand the boundaries of the text to the full extent of the composition. But in recent versions cc composite doesn't work, you've got to use solid composite instead
You can add a leaf texture as a custom texture map to the effect so that the particles would have a form of leaves, but I'm not sure if that would look good, I haven't tried. Anyway for complex particle animations you would be better off with particular plugin😁
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks for the response! 💖 I’m quite new to after effects! And no this is for a logo animation. So I’m not trying to do anything complicated 😅. I was just trying to see how to make the logo disappear into leaves and then float away haha. Is there any tutorials you can link me to with adding custom texture maps to an effect?
No problems, I should have one where I do that but I am making background with lines, you could just watch the part where I add custom line shape and get an idea of how to do it with a leaf. ua-cam.com/video/Pwa3HJc2JGk/v-deo.html

Thank you! I was about to get crazy because of the boundaries.

Do you know what about CC Composite isn't working any more? Thanks for the Solid Composite work around, was just wondering.

Maybe something's changed, it should either be cc composite effect or precomposing a layer to remove the bounds
Hi, thanks for the reply, I managed to open the handles to the edges of the composition which worked but now the alpha part doesn't make the particles stick to the letters, never mind. 🙏

following this step by step precisely in ae24.0 and my result is so bad and different, can you possibly update?
Pre comp the text layer and then apply the cc effects to it and it shud work
Hey, it is kinda late but still, here is the solution, add solid composite instead of cc composite and set opacity to 0%

Try precomposing the text layer and do it that way, it should work fine
I had the same issue, and pre-composing it worked! Thanks a ton

You need to precompose the text and then apply the effect so it doesn't crop
Tnxs so much

Great video. Can anyone help me in telling me how to make the opposite, that is Sand to Text/Images. Thankyou.
You can pre-compose everything, then right click the precomp layer, time, time reverse layer

Can we do this effect in a vector logo?
Yeah, it will work with any layer
great very easy and short Technik

Hey! Thank you for the tutorial! Can I just ask you if I can apply this to a whole text composition or if I have to redo the entire process for every text one by one?
Hey, yes you can apply it to a whole composition as long as you adjust the emitter size properly
@@SmertimbaGraphics thank you!
with new composite effect in after effect 24.0, this is not working, i had to use bcc composite. thanks
You can also pre-compose the layer instead
Hi, so can I make from particles to text? like I want to the text appears with the particles
Yeah, precompose everything and time reverse the layer
can you do 3d water letters (moving yellowy) and the they atomize (spray) with the pass?
Not sure if this effect would be able to, you need something more advanced, like particular for example
particular? @@SmertimbaGraphics
why is cc composite/solid composite needed at the start?
To expand the boundaries of the text to the full extent of the composition. But in recent versions cc composite doesn't work, you've got to use solid composite instead
@@SmertimbaGraphics thanks! I u can't just use the particle effect on the text layer itself? u need at least 2 layers?
For a complete animation you need 2 layers, 1 for the particles and 1 for the actual text that will disappear as particles appear
How to make the particles fill the entire screen. I am importing a two word text
Play around with gravity settings to spread the particles out, if that is what you mean
tnx sir
🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾
Can i do this with a picture just to make a gif ?
Sure, it will work with anything
@@SmertimbaGraphics thank you !
Greetings bro, if i had more than one text... how i set the inverse animation for all of them? #TNXALOT
To inverse the animation you could precompose everything, then right click the layer, time, time reverse layer
Quick question, what if you wanted the sand to be leaves instead? Like the text turns into leaves then blows away.

The particle dispersion is happening only within the text size. How to make it disperse all over?
That's something people started commenting about recently, I will have to troubleshoot it myself
@@SmertimbaGraphics I guess it's happening with the latest versions
Hey, it is kinda late but still, here is the solution, add solid composite instead of cc composite and set opacity to 0%
what is the software you are using ?
After effects?
❤❤❤
how to make an appearance rather than a disappearance as in the video, I did not find such a function for this effect
You can reverse the effect by time reversing the layer. Funny enough I am going to show that in tomorrows video😂 stay tuned
i watch your video , when you animate logo with this effect , but i try use it in text , but I can’t do it, I don’t understand how to do it@@SmertimbaGraphics
Hi how do I apply this to two rows of text?
Hi, do it separately for each row
@@SmertimbaGraphics Okay thank you!
My pleasure ☺️
when i chek source alpha inheritance the effect disappears
Did you follow the tutorial step by step?
If it's parent on another layer, the position value has changed, so I couldn't see it. Check the position value :)
App name ?
After effects
My particles won't extend to the full size of the comp they seem to be restricted to the size of my text - any advice please?
