Hello all! Humble apologies, this Wreck has hardened mineral crystal, NOT sapphire as I stated. Sorry. I'd recommend one of their other watches instead of this one on that basis. Cheers, Jody.
I wanted to hate this, but I don't (probably says more about me than Spinnaker). It's fairly good looking and the strap is neat. 39mm and I might have been tempted.
I have the Fleuss ( SP-5055-03 ), and it has the same strap. I might be the best made leather strap I own, and I only replaced it to not destroy the leather during the summer. I wasn't nuts about the lume or the bezel, and I wear my Phoibos and Aquatico way more than the Spinnaker.
@@JohnClarkW try the leather straps from Graf Zeppelin.. they are running rounds around the Spinnaker straps.. nothing like a thick, vegetable tanned quality leather from the South of Germany.
Well, let me start by saying that, as always I enjoy watching your reviews and appreciate the insights you provide and share with your audience. While I am no expert on watches, I cannot understand why anyone would spend $220 for a “patina” watch such as the one Spinnaker provided to you. I think that a nice patina looks well on boots made of fine leather, but to purposely ‘damage’ a watch, case, dial, bezel, etc. doesn’t do it for me. To be honest, less than 15 minutes ago I watched a similar review of a Spinnaker watch with a built in “patina’. That watch had a black dial and its crystal had more scratches on it, than hair on the back of my neck, and the bezel looked really beat up. I guess my point is, that it would appear to be “buyer beware” if one decides to purchase one of these watches, as the level of ‘patina’ might vary from watch to watch. Again, I am no expert, but I need to save my money for something I can damage myself. Having said that, I enjoyed your commentary. Another fine job! Thanks for making and sharing the video. Ed
I'm in agreement with you on this, with the addition that as the watch develops its legitimate "patina" from being worn and inevitably scratched up and rubbed a bit, the IP coating and faux patina wearing thin, it's going to look pretty odd, with shiny stainless showing through the scratches and thin spots. Sure, one could be careful with it, but it seems to me that the idea of something with a "relic" finish is to make it less fussy from the go, a sort of "beater" that you don't have to be so careful with. All in all, it's a rather odd concept to my thinking. Better to just go bronze or brass, and let the patina develop naturally, without concern over it looking strange over time; scratch the bronze, and it's still bronze.
Jody, I've just ordered a Wreck about 5mins ago. $139 with free shipping to England. Worked out about £113 all in! 😱 That's some deal that is. Thanks again for all of your hard work mate. 👊
I’m not a fan of the fake patina. This watch would not be bad if it had standard brushed finish. By the way, nice shirt. those Australian Ford Falcons were so cool, so were the Holden Monaros and Commadores.
I wasn't thrilled with some of the other Spinnakers that you have reviewed over the last year, but this one is a pretty bold styling look. I am glad to see companies that are ready to offer an innovative choice. I looked at the website and I believe the Blue dial w/ the distressed silver/black case is pretty sharp. It is right at the outside of wearable for me because of my size preference, but it is still going on my wish list.
Yes,I was wondering on the foe rose gold patina. Does it explicitly state that is what this one is, rose gold? Because I thought maybe it was supposed to be foe bronze patina.
Will try to replicate the wrecked look by dragging my Seiko SKX along the drive way and let it soak and marinade in a pail of salt water for 6 months and finally lightly sand paper all the case. Presto!
Hello. Another good review. I agree with you ... too many release from the brand and diameter too big. They could expand customers base by releasing some watches in the 38 to 40 mm range. Also, the strap is comfortable but is not aging well and keepers are flimsy. However watch enthusiasts usually have a bunch of 22mm straps on hand. The only Spinnaker I bought was the Hull with a reasonable lug to lug distance. It feel like the brand just don’t know who their customers are or could be. Anyway, thanks for the review.
I've got the Spinnaker Cahill and I love it. I paid under $200 for it and it lives on Natos for me. I like their Bradner and Fleuss but having the Cahill, I'll spend another couple hundred dollars elsewhere (probably Seiko or Certina quartz).
I am diametrically opposed to plated cases just on principle, but I got to say, this is a handsome watch! I have a Spinnaker that I won in a charity auction and actually love it. Surprising how much I do. Anyway, thanks!
Interesting review. Not a bad watch for the money even if it doesn’t have a sapphire crystal. I like the distressed look, and love the colors together. I might have found my Spinnaker!
Very nice watch, I really like it. I love the hands on this one, but sadly the size a bit too big for me. I wish they made this in a 40mm size I think would be better for them to have a larger market who have smaller wrists. I would probably buy it.
Thanks Jody! To your credit I have to spinnakers. I like them very much and actually have The spinnaker croft on my wrist as I was watching this video. I had too many dive stile watches According to Some...But I think there’s always room for another. I won’t be purchasing the Wrecked model As I seem to do a pretty good job of that myself... I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist. I generally stay away from a watch bigger than 42mm width and 48mm lug-to-lug...However I have made an exception for my spinnakers and I’m glad I did. 43 mm x 50 mm but they wear a bit smaller then that And look great.
Funny you should review this watch as after watching one of your videos on bronze watches last year I had a hankering for one. Saw one in my price range last week and pulled the trigger. Bought the Invicta Pro Diver 26644 Green Dial Bronze Automatic. I know there is a lot of hate for Invicta but I am loving mine Seiko NH 35 movement Flame fusion which I think is their version of sapphire glass and a 45mm caise exhibition caise back. Leather strap with bronze buckle. £150. Love your vids thank you.
I have bought 2 in the last 2 months along with other brands. I have the fluse and the bradner and love them. Now I want the wreck lol thanks Jody haha
I bought a wreck and it arrived with a broken rotor. Not too uncommon with these watches from what I've read. 3 months and 26 emails later I finally got my watch back in working order. I was told they would reimburse shipping cost, never happened. Edited to say I really like the watch though. I can't be all negative. 😅
I really like Spinnaker as a brand - Since adding a Bradner to my collection last year, I've been waiting for a decent release. This one really tickles my fancy i must admit.
I love the look of the no arabic spinnaker wreck models (I guess the one you reviewed is a rerelease) there is a green bezel gun metal coloured case and dial with yellow accents (SP-5051-03) that looks fantastic. The size keeps me away from it though.
I bought one of these in January 2022. I got a bit of a discount on the full price. I love the watch, from a design point of view and its time keeping. The lume is underwhelming, but I was not expecting too much. The bezel action is satisfying. Unfortunately, today as I turned the bezel, the annulus - the bezel cover with the numbers on it - came off. It looks like it was glued down with a small amount of glue. Not impressed.
I don't know about this one. The overall watch looks good from a distance and I like the forced patina on the case but the scratched bezel puts me off.
What a shame about the bezel, I was hoping for chipboard! 😉😆 Seriously need to have word with myself as I quiet like it. Really dislike bronze watches but that looks pretty good, even like the scratched up bezel too. Green seems very en vogue in the watch world at the moment, so it’s a good choice (if you got one). Nothing really upsets me about it, could be a bit smaller but I could wear that, glass caseback probably unnecessary but overall it’s pretty cool. Plus if you ding it... just gets better. So as an every day beater not a bad choice either. Cracking review as always Jody. T’shirt is fab too. This channel just gets better and better 👍
I've only ever had one Spinnaker watch and this is the one (mine was the black case with blue dial option). The only thing I disliked about it was the strap. Whilst being a nice to wear strap, I wore mine at a stag weekend and inevitably got some booze on it. This discoloured the strap badly and left a bad stain I couldn't get out. Shame as I did enjoy the watch.
How to describe this watch?....maybe cohesive? 😃. I think these wrecks are fantastic looking. Personally I wish spinnaker would have gone for a smaller size which would tie in with vintage look. But great looking watch nonetheless
I don't know, this watch reminds me of the used looking shoes Gucci just released and how big of a flop they are. Great video and review though as always.
Hey Jody this ones been out for awhile. They have about the same size case on most of their offerings. Just a wee bit to big for me. They remind me of assembly line watches coming out of a cookie cutter. I would put them in the same grouping as Phoibos. And for the love of God get rid of the NH35.
Pretty cool watch with the finishing. It's too bad they may not have refined their lume application. I know that was a quibble of mine early in that the lume can be less than spectacular, even as much as to say poor. They do seem to be putting out a lot of watches and making a fewer selection better. I'm not sure I am sold on the design. I don't like dials that have what appears to be a Rolex Explorer 1 configuration, but they have a date wheel at 3 so you don't get the #3 in that position. So, you are left with 9 & 6 only. Idk, I don't like the way that looks. Needs the 3 also to maintain proper dial symmetry. Would have preferred left date out all together or reposition at the 4 if needs be. I'd rather see a shortened or missing baton index rather than the larger Arabic numerals that would be 9, 6 & 3. As with a worn or patina'd look this has and the trend. Have u seen Gucci seliing their classic tennis shoes that look worn for around $900? The worn look is coming in (again, I've seen faux patina watches many years ago). Laco has a really nice worn look in their higher end classic pilot flieges. I've seen some new glycine Airman with a worn gunmetal and brass look. I think Seals has a watch that has an aged finish too. And, maybe some other microbrand watches. A lot of times this finish may be referred to as antique silver. Additionally, the trend with brass and bronze watches to get that patina'd look has been going on for some time now and looks to continue a little longer. Perhaps no longer just a passing trend? Lastly, I'll point to the Baselworld limited edition G-Shock black metal that has the worn in look. Super cool. I'd want one, but I believe they will sell for about $1k?! Reference GMW-B5000V-1 for a look if you haven't seen. I might take a less expensive "new" black metal version and do my own patina to get the same look instead.
I'd like to see your watch collection sir😀,im starting to love automatic i'd like to see what most brands from experienced people like you collect, since most of your video provide affordable watch's review for most people
He has videos with his collections for the last two years… And oh by the way he’s responsible for me purchasing seven or eight watches in my collection! Never steered me wrong yet!
Do u really notice such a huge difference between a 42 mm and 43 mm watch, many 43mm watches have the same lug to lug as a 42, and seriously, when that's the case, I don't notice very much difference. The same goes for the difference between a 42 mm and a 41 mm, we are taking about 1 mm, of course we are not discussing microns, but do we really notice such a huge difference? I have a 7.1 " wrist and can't say I notice too much of a difference unless they have cocked up the lug to lug..
Wee wifey had a laugh last night in bed when the tic toc tic toc began...and straight away said...."NO ! You dont need another watch"..ha how wrong she is...thanks pal now she is watchin me...
Dang, could have gotten a vintage Soviet made Vostok watch that looks like a wreck, complete with radioactive lume. Could of had a mini Chernobyl on your wrist! How much more wrecked could you get? Some people treat new Vostok dials with flames to wreck them.
Nice composition of colors for sure. But I don´t buy patina, I love to create it. Some of my older watches are bearing deep scars from some incidents happening while wearing them. And I know every scratch by its name... That´s one reason I sometimes give my watches to repairs way beyond the value of the watch. We took on challenges together that left their marks, sometimes on both of us. I won´t give this away for any other new watch.
Even if the rest of the watch is impressive for the price, the cheap looking bezel completely ruins the look. It's not that expensive to put a lumed dot to make it functional in dark conditions. Even if never used, it's the kind of detail that sticks out for anyone who knows a thing or two about dive watches. A hard pass and I'll stick with my SKX.
I've just figured out this "faux patina" thing, and why I don't like it: Ever go to Epcot in Florida and visit the various "countries", fully staffed by folks who speak the native language of that "country"? It's cool, but you have to remember when you're in "Italy", it's not really Italy, but a facade; a manufactured replica with no history or provenance,
I think that it's a bit expensive and their price would was around 200$ with 100m. wr. You need other channel who name will be just one T-Shirt more 😄😄😄
Well it's a nice watch but I'm afraid this marketing strategy will end up depreciating the brand like Relic Invicta and fossil. They come out the line like hotcakes . And as a watch lover you end up loosing interest in the brand maybe it's just a trend brand we gonna have to wait.
Hello all! Humble apologies, this Wreck has hardened mineral crystal, NOT sapphire as I stated. Sorry. I'd recommend one of their other watches instead of this one on that basis. Cheers, Jody.
I found this our the hard way, any chance they are compatible with an skx or other readily available crystals?
I anticipate in fear when another watch review shows up on my notifications, fear of saying goodbye to money and then hello to a new watch.
One of the nicest Spinnakers I have seen in a while. Those hands work really well in the wreck design.
The best watch reviews on UA-cam. Always on point.
Thanks for your kind words! Cheers, Jody
All of them...the answer is ALL OF THEM! This thing is gorgeous and I have a vintage Army OD green jacket it would go perfectly with! 😍😍
It would be funny to buy a patina'ed watch and it reverse patinas with wear...
I wanted to hate this, but I don't (probably says more about me than Spinnaker). It's fairly good looking and the strap is neat. 39mm and I might have been tempted.

Very nice watch Jody and really like the distressed/ pre loved look. Big thumbs up Spinnaker, if only it was a little smaller maybe a 40mm.
I really like the style, but the green one looks like it’s suffering from gangrene 😱

I like the spinnaker leather straps .
Thanks for content .
the current ones say sapphire on the caseback, all the Wrecks are stunning, I'd buy one even if it was made of cheese

Looks good. Thanks Jody. Get Spinnaker to develop a 40 or 39mm case. I want one, they are just too big
I just bought a brass Spinnaker. Got it for $120 on Massdrop. It comes next week
Jody, fantastic review as always 👍
Love the T Shirt. My dad bought an XY GT new when I was a kid. Wish he'd kept it..it was a phase 3. $$$$$$
Massive dollars! I've had a couple of Aussie Fords since coming over here, none collectors items though! Cheers, Jody
The bezel insert looks very similar to Seiko"s BFK ( SKA371 etc...).

super enjoyable reviews you do. loved the watch but thanks for mentioning it's 90 click. that's a kill for me. keep up the reviews.
I love the look of the no arabic spinnaker wreck models (I guess the one you reviewed is a rerelease) there is a green bezel gun metal coloured case and dial with yellow accents (SP-5051-03) that looks fantastic. The size keeps me away from it though.
I really like it. Thx for showing.
The SP-5051 series Wreck has undamaged bezels, however no arabic numerals and round hour markers. This video is a new SP-5065 series.
What a shame about the bezel, I was hoping for chipboard! 😉😆
Seriously need to have word with myself as I quiet like it. Really dislike bronze watches but that looks pretty good, even like the scratched up bezel too. The website says its not a sapphire crystal, its using a mineral crystal
Also, for this worn-gold case.... Idk, I'd instead just grab a bronze watch, it's gonna look like that in a year or so naturally.
That is the "Bronze" that you pay 400$ for ...He He
Just bought a Spinnaker bronze for $120
@@gtbigdog3507 how did you get one so cheap?
Your videos and taste rule!
If you like the worn in beat up look, check out ooo out of order watches, I believe they are Italian.
How to describe this watch?....maybe cohesive? 😃. I think these wrecks are fantastic looking. Personally I wish spinnaker would have gone for a smaller size which would tie in with vintage look. But great looking watch nonetheless
definitely agree, way too big!
I don't know, this watch reminds me of the used looking shoes Gucci just released and how big of a flop they are.
Great video and review though as always.
Great review
Much better looking than the first gen 5051 Wrecks. Wonder why they deleted the lume pip, though.
Agreed. They are refining some of their range nicely. Cheers!
Nice review, looks better in your video than on their site. Even though I have a couple of Spinnakers I’ll pass on this one.
Kinda like a relic’d guitar, must like someone else beating it up to like it, but if you do it’s GREAT
Looks as if they changed the "Wreck's" design. As I cruised Ebay I see the spinnaker replaced with a sail.
Hey Jody this ones been out for awhile. They have about the same size case on most of their offerings. Just a wee bit to big for me. They remind me of assembly line watches coming out of a cookie cutter. I would put them in the same grouping as Phoibos. And for the love of God get rid of the NH35.
If not the Nh35 then what?!
How about Spinnaker make a 40 or 39 mm watch and see how that goes for them?
BECAUSE I'M JUST SAYING...
I think they did a 38mm Cahill a while ago but it was a bit rough. Agree, they need to downsize. Cheers mate.

Excellent review. The watch reminds me of the ripped, distressed jeans that kids buy that way.
This is logical extension of vintage looking watch right? Just age it slightly. This is going to be big! Does Spinnaker have stock?
i just got mine and i'm ordering 2 more.
Brilliant!
like new vintage guitars aged to look old.... mo money!
I own a Spinnaker Bradner, Cahill and sold a Croft, I like the brand but this distressed one not so much.
Man! Love ur shirt 💪🏼
I really like that one. 👍
colorful straps are the best
They could probably also do laser-etching on the crystal to make it appear chipped and cracked around the edges.
Do u really notice such a huge difference between a 42 mm and 43 mm watch, many 43mm watches have the same lug to lug as a 42, and seriously, when that's the case, I don't notice very much difference. Since this watch does not appear to have a sapphire crystal, it should look fully "wrecked" soon after it is worn...

100 meters that's 300 feet. Technically you will only go down 100 feet and below that you are sending the robotic submersible.
I hold my breath down to 300 feet. 😜
A bit smaller and a sapphire crystal and I'd buy one, love beat up looking divers
The dial looks like a green leather.

Some people treat new Vostok dials with flames to wreck them.
A bonny watch, the leather strap is stunning.
Someone could buy or sell a well worn used one and call it new...
Wonderful!
The dial would be more symmetrical if the date wheel was white
For some reason I want to baash this, but, I do like it.
I self deleted Jody, overdid it on the Lanliq, apologies.
Perfect for my 6 inch wrists
Nice composition of colors for sure. But I don´t buy patina, I love to create it. Some of my older watches are bearing deep scars from some incidents happening while wearing them. And I know every scratch by its name... That´s one reason I sometimes give my watches to repairs way beyond the value of the watch. We took on challenges together that left their marks, sometimes on both of us. I won´t give this away for any other new watch.
For me, it's slightly lacking in something. Cant quite put my finger on what that is, but not for me.
I like your accent, is it Finnish?
😐
I believe it's Scottish
@@JustOneMoreWatch I kid I kid, LOL!
I like it.
This brand is growing on me... Well, I don't have a diver yet
You know I'm gonna say it.... Another Seiko!
I quite like it, it looks old and worn out like me.
To me the case finish is aiming at a bronze look, not rose gold.
True, true, but they refer to it as Rose Gold IP coated. Looks like bronze though.
Too bad that seconds hand and text is not a more yellow orange... I'd be feeling some Boba Fett vibes if it was ;)
Interesting design, probably well made. Not making me grab for my PayPal account.
I've just figured out this "faux patina" thing, and why I don't like it: Ever go to Epcot in Florida and visit the various "countries", fully staffed by folks who speak the native language of that "country"? It's cool, but you have to remember when you're in "Italy", it's not really Italy, but a facade; a manufactured replica with no history or provenance,
I think that it's a bit expensive and their price would was around 200$ with 100m. wr. You need other channel who name will be just one T-Shirt more 😄😄😄
Spinnaker is trying hard to be an Invicta
Well it's a nice watch but I'm afraid this marketing strategy will end up depreciating the brand like Relic Invicta and fossil. They come out the line like hotcakes . And as a watch lover you end up loosing interest in the brand maybe it's just a trend brand we gonna have to wait.
very nice watch I do like a lot.. cheers
not digging the dial, case etc looks good
