Prepping for my LSAT to apply for school next year. Ex-cop of 7 years so a lot of experience being around lawyers. I can say in my area of my state(Alabama, Greater-Birmingham area) our "public defenders" and even most prosecutors and judges at the municipal and county level are small firm private attorneys who contract out for those roles, but are also involved in Real-Estate, family and estate contracts as well. With the exception of the actual County ADAs who are full time in that role. To the caller's point and to [The Guy with the Glasses'] point: most transactional lawyers would also be heavily involved in litigation outside of the huge banking/business firms that are the minority it seems.
