Every fight too me is base on push and pull. When your opponent pushes, you pull, when he pulls, you push. When he expands, I contract, when he contracts, I expand (Bruce Lee). But, like Bruce said the ultimate techinque is no techinque. Use what works, the most effective counter possible. I draw my concepts and techincal aptitude on different martial arts. I like to reinforce, innovate, add, polish, and create. All in all! I find what works, also like to finish the fight as soon as it starts. And not go blow for blow with my adversary.

Sticks are great. They teach so much. One tool gives you command of all others.

Great video! Guro, you make such a great point about finding what works...forget styles and techniques; it's about concepts, and finding what concepts work for each individual. That's why I can't stand the politics of Wing Chun and JKD world...folks, get your mind out of the kwoon, and take the concepts you've been taught and innovate your self defense! Chi sau and your 'lineage' don't mean shit on the street...the concepts you train DO!

Great stuff! For me on street I want people close so if he attacks, I can intercept before a weapon is pulled.
Btw empty hand vs knife, everyone forgets eye jab. On 1st beat using Kali theory to attack during defense, an eye jab during 1st move to avoid being cut, can end threat.

In FMA, weapon is just extension of the hand, movement and techniques are based on empty hand fighting technique.

You must react without thinking. If he grabs or throws a punch you must react without thinking it must be muscle memory.

You must practice your techniques thousands of times. In a confrontation you must react immediately and defend yourself

As a long time kyokushin, judo and kickboxing guy, and unfortunately skinny or thin, whichever the girls say at the time, I prefer rarely to block at all and to faint (feint?) to the outside while throwing a roundhouse kick to their ear. Remember, professional fighters don't pick fights and the street thugs that do don't know how to fight.

The number of mma fighters that have broken their hands is too many to list - I'm sure most people are aware that boxers wear gloves and wrap their hands to protect them NOT for the other guys face or head ... Bare knuckle fighters train to hit specific targets and still manage to break their hands .. there are weight classes that also change the plan . Jake Lamotta was a great boxer but had tiny hands , would break his knuckles in street fights. I'm writing this in response to the Person that is upset because we don't all train like him .. Enjoy

I don't get it. Have you guys ever been in a fight? What is wrong with using your knuckles??? The chance that you will hurt your hand is actually rare, especially if you practice with punching bags, makiwara, knuckle push ups. Go punch with a little power a hard surface that doesn't move; that small power on a human head is pretty much, imagine more, and it won't hurt you since unlike the immovable hard surface, the head gets knocked back, it moves. I mean, aren't your knuckles conditioned at all? Why? If not, why not condition them instead of being afraid to punch? Unless, I missed something, then I apologize? -Palm strikes are more "slippery", and not trustworthy to the same degree as a punch, not the safest bet in my view.

Calling out people when you obviously haven't seen any real violence since grade school... Fist do very little damage. The human body is equipped with tools that just do more damage and stop big individuals quickly! Way quicker than swapping punching in some sort of "Sparring Mentality" like you chumps think real violence looks like... Why not cultivate those BETTER tools? Why should we train to SPAR in the street like everyone else.... Come on! Don't call out shit you have no clue about! _ Guro Billy Brown, 20 Plus years Club Doorman, Private Security Sector and Body Guard Work! Hundreds and hundreds of real altercations of every kind! So you you make comments like the above calling people out for "NEVER BEING IN A FIGHT" just remember you have ZERO clue about what others have and have not done! And your limited experience and closed minded comment shows that! With that said, you are feee to post some videos on your empty YT page showing these men above how to do it right.....

@@outofthebox7 I agree with you. I'm a 4th black in kyokushin plus 10 years kickboxing under undefeated world champion Benny the jet Urquidez in Van Nuys California. I planted two 10' - 4 x 4 post 2 feet underground and 8 ft in the air and 8 feet apart with a galvanized pipe going through the top for a chin-up bar. Then I filled pillow cases with pinto beans to the size of a human head, twisted them and tied them in a knot and then duct taped them over and over again until it was a ball of duct tape filled with pinto beans. Four bags total. Then I tightly tied two bags to one post and two bags to the other post at head high and ribs high. I then put screws below the ropes so the bags wouldn't slide down. When I hit the top bag, it barely moves a few inches, just like a human head would move. click on my picture and I should have uploaded a video of what I'm talkin about. Enjoy.
