  • Thanks to all of our INTEX Pool video visitors this past year. We are very appreciative of your feedback and support and especially for those who have subscribed to our channel. Thank you!!!
    In this video, we will show you some updates that we have made in the last two weeks of May 2020 with our landscaping improvements based on lessons learned, new creative ideas and we will talks about some cushy extras that we added onto our pool and the perimeter and even a new 8' x 12' pool deck that was just installed.
    We won't stop here, our creative minds are already churning up new design ideas to improve our summer sanctuary so stay tuned for our future pool life videos.
    P.s. Regarding our local strays as mentioned in the video. Yes, it's my fault, some of those cats I mentioned I consider my own adoptive wild babies and I will protect them so I did not mean to sound mean. They are spoiled but we plan to keep them away from our pool with many new ideas. (another video) lol.

      Thanks for the suggestion. I did go over that and I did some articles related to that topic and I see a lot of opinions saying to don't go there. I don't have any cats around anymore thank goodness. they have all been rescued. The mosquitos seem to be under control with the eucalyptus plants.

      Oh, thank you. It is always changing....you would not believe how much it's changed since that video. It's all rocks, pavers and the deck is painted, and we have a privacy pool fence built right up against the pool. We also have a nice table over by the deck stairs and we have 5 umbrellas now. At night this season our pool is lit up all in purple string lights, and we have purple solar flowers and purple flame like solar lights. 💜 thanks for watching.

    love what you did with pool. I had 15 x 48 last year upgraded to 22 x52 this year, thought of putting down mulch but your statement about cats etc made me change my mind putting down stone instead.

    • @MoverandShaker

      Nice! In the beginning we talked about only getting a 12 which turned into a 14 which was returned for the 18 and then yes we talk about the 22 but we thought we will probably move so we will wait. Yes, the cats made a mess of the mulch! you can still put some rubber mulch around the first few inches to keep the rugs from the edges of the liner, but really we haven't had any problems that most people fear with putting those rocks down. I am always cleaning the area and grooming everything around the pool so I keep a watchful eye!

      Congrats! and thank you! It's fairly simple to set up the most challenging things were to Get the pavers level from paver to paver and the exact distance 28" and also when the pools filling up continuing to make sure that all the wrinkles are out on the bottom because once you get too much water in there you're gonna be stuck with the wrinkles.

    Please do a video on how you prep for winter? Greetings from Minnesota

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому +4

      We will do one at the end of this season. For now, I can tell you we purchased a winter pool cover that came with a heavy duty wire strap that was covered in a durable protective coating and it also included ratchet style tool to lock the cover on tight. We also purchased a winter pillow that you blow up and tie with four strings to your pool that goes on the surface of the pool under the winter cover after draining a little bit of water below the outlet. We bought a winter pill off Amazon. You puncture it and throw it in the pool. which gradually releases winterizing chemicals into the water all winter and lastly we purchased the pool wrap (like saran wrap) this help tremendously with vicious rains and winds and kept everything snug. When we took off the cover, we were shocked at how clean and clear the water was. Happy too. It's an intial investment but we have everything we need now for next winter with the exception of a new winter pill.

We probably didn't need that big of a deck for just us 2 however from what I have heard, it was a steal so I am good with that. I am in the process of removing that thinner strip of remaining rubber mulch, it has just been too frustrating because it gets mixed up and spread into the rocks as well as filled with pinestraw and other tree objects It has just been too much work and I would no longer recommend it.

      Oh Thank you. It all started with a small blow up pool that I had in my backyard last June. I had so much fun laying out in it, I wanted a bigger one so I started thinking a 12' would work which then became a 14' and I ordered it, returned it and purchased the 18'. We set that up in the 2nd week of July because we had to wait for Permits so you can tell in just about month and a half of last year and a month this year we came a seriously long way. It's absolutely addictive and you find it hard to stop adding on to make it better. LOL I hope you have something set up soon and that you have a blast this summer. I haven't been in the pool yet. Too cold for me. Water still in the mid 70's but I am laying out beside the pool and allowing my husband to splash water on me. LOL I think next week we will put the solar cover on overnight and get in around noon. It should be like a hot tub lol. Good Luck.

      @@missydawn5679 Yes, I have another video coming on the Intex Pool Cleaner which most people call a vacuum and one video on the Intex Pool Seat and were moving to SALT so we are going to have a Salt Chlorinator set up video, etc... etc... Good Idea on buying a home, make sure you have enough room in the backyard for tables, lounge chairs and the pool. Buying is so much better than renting. I rented until I was 38 yrs old and our mortgage payment is now cheaper than any rent around our area period and we have a HUGE Backyard and we only needed 3 bedrooms 2 baths. It will all be worth it in the end. Yes don't delay on a pool set up if you are planning on staying there another year or two.

      We are so sorry for the delay in returning your message, somehow we passed your question. It is a 2" pipe if it's not too late. Our pool and landscape has dramatically changed since that video. We do remove those pipes every fall/winter and store them in our storage shed. The spray paint can chip easily so it's best to remove them when you cover your pool up. Unless you live in a climate where your pool is up year long.

    Love the new pool deck, we might have to look into investing in one ourselves next year. I would lose your " munchie area and add a second set of steps to your house deck, it would make access into your pool so much easier.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, our munchie area is still being updated as we speak, however, there were very specific reasons why we did not attach steps to the deck. For one our city requires another locking gate and alarm system on your door to your house if you do that, and in addition, we plan to rebuild our deck in the future if we decide to stay. It' over 20 years old. I also prefer all traffic from the pool to go into the garage before entering the house. Just a personal preference but my husband felt exactly like you did in the beginning with that idea.

    Hi there!! I liked your pool and your yard is very nicely maintained, but I noticed that you have to do a few things every night, like disconnecting your pool pump, what you can do is turning the outlet side ways so the cord opening is down and the cord of the pump put it under ground and also the pump has a timer that you can set it like for 6 or 8 hours a day and just leave it and the pump will turn on every day at the same time that you set it unless that the electricity goes out then you just reset it again . Other than that everything is very nice. Thank you and God bless you.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому

      Our electrical outlet is already sideways however there's a cover over it that closes when it rains and there's no way to plug in both the saltwater system and the pump and close the cover I do like the idea of the cord being underground but the distance between the pump in the wall is so short that is the cords did go underground they would have to be doubled up somehow but thanks for the ideas a lot of the reasons why we don't let the pump turn on by itself is due to weather any time it's going to rain everything is wrapped up and covered up we've been looking to build something to go around the pump and at the same time we've looked at other options that aren't handcrafted thank you for the suggestions were always trying to make things better and easier how you put some ideas in my head.😁

    Nice yard and pool great job. We have a Intex 12ft X 30in Prism Frame Pool right now but want to upgrade to this pool not sure maybe next year as I have a 6 year old and a still a little nervous with her in the pool. Where did you buy your pool? and what time of year. The prices are crazy. I have seen some people pay $500 and now they are like $1500. Thanks for the videos. Please post a new 1 this year with how you open your pool to see what chemicals you use. :) Doreen in MA.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      Hi Doreen, Thank you for the yard compliments. It and the pool landscaping is always changing! There is already two things that have changed that are different but I will leave that for the future videos.
      I understand wanting to upgrade to a larger size. When we first decided to get a pool it was planned to be a 12 x 48 and then we ordered a 14 x 48 and returned it and purchased the 18 x 52! It all came from Amazon. If you look in our original pool video (the very first one)ua-cam.com/video/hny3GCrtric/v-deo.html you should see the link for the pool in case you want to look at the current price for that one.
      We purchased our pool in 2019 July. The reason for the prices going up is none other than COVID and so many people working from home and being couped up at home in the last year. The prices started to skyrocket in March of last year. The prices for anything that is used in or around a pool went through the roof. We switched from a chemical pool to saltwater pool last year and we will never go back to chemicals because there was only one time last year where we had to put one chemical in the pool to make the water from green to blue but the rest of the summer was maintenance free with the exception of adding salt. We will do a video to open our salt pool though.

      The legs aren't centered on the pavers in the middle they were closer to the center back Edge in addition there is the ground cloth that comes with a pool that gets tucked underneath as well. In the end we had to go around with a 6-foot level every two bricks and make sure they were level some ended up actually lower or higher but in reality they were all level if that makes sense but they didn't touch the pool so as the pool is filling up your continuously making adjustments because you will start to feel and hear the legs moving so once you're at the point where you can't make any more adjustments that's when you would do your last-minute fine-tuning basically you have to Nuke it out from start to finish until that water starts to fill up. The pool curves at the bottom and the pavers aren't close enough to puncture them.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      Our ladder pops right out of the two mounted squares anytime you would need to remove it, however if it didn't I would probably cover it as best as I could. Perhaps you could find a mounting option for your ladder that would replicate ours using items from the big box hardware stores or even custom wood inserts.

    Hi, love your videos! How did you protect your pool liner from the blocks you put under the legs?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  4 роки тому +1

      We had a five inch wide strip of rubber mulch between the liner's edge and the stones but in most places the stones are under ground or level with the surface of the ground and in addition the legs come out from the liner several inches. There is not on single stone that is even close to touching the liner. We also used the back 3rd of each stone to position each leg on. Overall that was not a concern for us for our pool set up. Our biggest concern was making sure the ground was perfectly level and getting all wrinkles out of the liner.

      The prices will probably not come down anytime soon. I bought mine in June 14th 2019 for $1099 (Ultra XTR pool, ladder and pump, combo package) and by the end of July it was on sale for $899. I purchased it off Amazon from a storefront call VMEXPRESS. The best thing I can suggest is to find one for sale in your local area. People get rid of them when they move or relocate. A second hand one is better than waiting. Now two weeks before I bought that one, I did buy a regular model Intex (not XTR) 14 x 48 and I returned it. That was $249.00 big difference. All in all I think any price anyone pays is worth it. It really does pay it all back in good times, fun and relaxtion not to mention therapeutic too.

      No, the pipe and the umbrella are sitting on the paver. When we need to put them up or down we simply raise it up one to two inches to lower or raise. I guess you could drill a hole in the bottom of the pipe about two inches and place a screw and a bolt through it so that it stays up higher illeviating having to do it all the time. At the beginning of each season, you have to buy a couple more bags of salt. Then it's good to get a sample of your water. So you can take it to the pool store at that time. They might try to give you a product or 2 as a recommendation, and they will give you a print out of what your pool needs. Once you follow the step by step instructions, you're pretty much set for the rest of the season. And it is so nice.
