Thank you GoodFellows and Condy for a great conversation. This is one of the few places left where differing views can be discussed in a rational and civil manner. Very much appreciated.
It's so good to see Condoleeza Rice. One of my favorite political figures in the past 30 years. I wish she had gone into electoral politics after the Bush II administration.
I really love the show; a treat to hear from Condoleezza Rice, too. Hearing from experts about geo-political matters of concern is something I look forward to each week. Can't wait until the next episode. Thanks so much.
I so enjoy Condoleeza Rice because of her depth of knowledge and experience on the world stage. She’s needed in bringing reality in ideological discussions.
Excellent as always. Condi Rice is a real star - very wise and incisive. I could be wrong but I don't believe you have given adequate consideration to the policy response to covid-19. There needs to be a proper evaluation of the policy choices that were made.
It’s really great to listen to informed discussions about the events and problems of our country and the world. Thank you! Please don’t quit. We need you!
The Goodfellow discussions are always profoundly insightful and helpful. I wish the tone and character of these conversations could be replicated throughout every community of interests. Thanks for your contributions to thought and platform for action.
Excellent conversation! Thank you all for your well informed, sometimes passionate thoughts. So helpful. Conversations like this are America at its best.
I found your conversation extremely informative. Thank you. This is the very first time I have ever commented on a podcast. Keep up the great work. Your unique perspective s is what makes you so intriging.
So unusual to hear Niall Ferguson transition from thinking to feeling. Apparently even intellectuals have trigger issues which yield a fear response. 58:51
Brilliant discussion, and certainly a high note before the summer break. Here's a future question/topic for you: Would an energy policy shift to renewables inside the USA upset the dollar's standing as the world's reserve currency? And if so how can the dollar retain its international status while not being the "petrodollar"? How might a world without the petrodollar look? What steps and actions must be taken? How might the USA's relationship to the middle eastern countries change? Will the middle east change? How might the USA (and many western countries) "going green" effect the USA/China/EU/Russia relations and power balances? Are we partly trapped in a world with the petrodollar due to economic and geopolitical concerns or are there viable paths forward? What pitfalls must be avoided?
Thank you for this show! Your discussions are very informative. Your rapport and your conduct is a great example of the way informed conversations should be held. I will miss The Good Fellows during the summer. When will y'all be back?
If Condoleezza Rice ran for president of the United States she would most certainly have my vote I think she's more than qualified and would be a very good president
Putin accepting people over 40 into the military, suggests to me, he intends this to not only still be going on in a year, but to intensify (in a year).
Everyone said what was expected, especially if you have been following the various perspectives. All this means is that going forward, we are going to see a prolonged and entrenched conflict that is promoted to drag on for all its intended effects and purposes. Sad.
It isn’t always black children that this happens to. There’s a lot of white children going through that too. A child is a Wonderful Blessing!!!♥️ I know that there are more black children that this happens to. I think it’s a Beautiful Thing that you are helping them. I agree with you, our system for poor children is 100% Broken.💔
Another really terrific episode. Always good to have Condi on the show. The gun thing is a source of growing frustration. As someone who grew up around guns, I have a great appreciation for the right to have them. At the same time, I had a father that often did not adequately secure them and twice had a sibling point a loaded one at me in anger. Guns are a huge responsibility and we must never lose sight of that fact. The biggest frustration is just that we never seem to be able to actually talk about the issue in a reasonable fashion. One side seems to have a list of things that they want that appear, for the most part, to not really address any of the mass shootings. The other side almost always seems to come across as just trying to run out the clock until the furor over the latest incident dies down. As John seemed to try to point out, often it seems as though we are not doing enough to enforce the laws we already have. But, as in other areas as well, the answer people have is not fixing the laws or enforcement but just stacking on more laws. I would love to know how effectively current firearms laws are enforced. It would just be amazing if some organization, like Hoover, could actually take a decent and fair look at things, and then make some recommendations. I would guess this never happens since the two main sides in the gun debate seem unwilling to accept anything but that which they already want, so you could only alienate people. It is just good that this group was able to have some reasonable discussion of the topic. More of that is sorely needed.
This video reminds me how important it is to go to & actually read the Presidents Op-Ed piece & Secy. Kissinger's speech instead of just skimming the headlines, editorials, etc., a bad habit I've fallen into lately.
At the time we really did believe that trade and investment would bring China into a peaceful cooperation in the region. We have had to change that view. In 1992, we had no idea the situation would be this different. Things were so relaxed and non-political. I am nostalgic for that time.
Great discussions all around but the gun control issue almost got resolved! The "militias" mentioned in the 2nd Amendment actually do protect citizens from government gone awry; the "ban military style weapons" retoric is a strawman distraction because illegal handguns are the more pressing issue by a factor of 100. The 2nd Amendment says that the federal govenment is forbidden from making any national policy on citizens bearing arms but it does not forbid Dodge City from ordering Marshall Dillon from murdering any person who carries any gun inside the city limits (from old TV show "Gunsmoke" opening scene; it shows a TV western style gunfight but in reality the peace officer would just shoot them in the back because threatening the peace and well-being of our city is not a sport so criminals are not eligible for the rules of fair play), Gun control is a State and local issue. After is illegal handgun issue is faced then look into the "red flags" of social media, and medications to control behavior. In short, if a teacher, doctor, school nurse, student, or neighbor asks the local police to check out some kid's/adult's rantings about killing people then the local police should be able to take up the guns in this kids house, period.
Digital currency + education + aircraft carriers battle groups + submarines + the rest of the military equipments should the China keep building. Your meeting's conversation give me the idea.
Ukraine should have used the time lapse between 2008 and 2014 to join Nato and EU, and certainly after 2014, to avoid being invaded and destroyed now. Neutrality is not a guarantee against an expansionist dictator who wants to stay in power for life. It is up to Ukraine what it is willing to accept to negotiate a peace or at least a cease fire, and what it can concede.

I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 and I never miss an episode ,really fascinating views and subject matter on the world in general and USA 🇺🇸. 👍👏
I so enjoy Condoleeza Rice because of her depth of knowledge and experience on the world stage. She’s needed in bringing reality in ideological discussions.
I would like to see more of Condoleezza Rice on the program

Thank you, I feel very privileged to be able to listen to discussions like this. From Australia 🦘
Wow, an actual rational discussion. Great stuff! Love the Hoover Institution.
It is wonderful to hear Ms Rice discussing Ukraine. Thanks for inviting her.
This is what meaningful discussions should be. People disagree passionately, but also remain respectful and thoughtful.
Thanks for the varied perspectives and respectful dialogue. You are an example of how good policy development should be.
I so appreciate the disagreement and the continued conversation.
Thanks for another beautiful episode! Keep the series going!
I love this podcast! Watch it every week.
Mr Cochranes view on gun violence is very balanced and rooted in reality.
Love this show. I watch it as soon as it comes out. And I am not even American. :D
Ms Rice please run for President 🙏
Best conversations! We are all looking forward to each of you returning after the summer break!
Great conversation, still would love to see Peter Zeihan if possible!
These are very good ladies and gentlemen. Much needed and appreciated.
Have we as American lost our credibility?
Greetings from France,
Excellent as usual, you all needed one more hour on these 2 topics...
I found your conversation extremely informative. Thank you. This is the very first time I have ever commented on a podcast. Keep up the great work. Your unique perspective s is what makes you so intriging.
I'm glad I won't have to wait till September ... I hope ... the best interview, debate show anywhere

Condoleeza Rice is absolutely right that you can't just go around invading other countries, at least if you are Russia.
Thank you for this show! Your discussions are very informative. Your rapport and your conduct is a great example of the way informed conversations should be held. I will miss The Good Fellows during the summer. When will y'all be back?
Great as usual discussion…one of my favourite….C Rice is fantastic, I look for this podcast it’s always on the money…
If Condoleezza Rice ran for president of the United States she would most certainly have my vote I think she's more than qualified and would be a very good president
Thank you very much! This was very informative.
Intriguing discussions, thanks.
Brilliant as always.
A great discussion! The world is in crisis.
Cochrane NAILS it in the end!
Great show as always. However this one with Condoleezza Rice and the one last week with Victor Davis Hanson were rxception
Have a great break chaps.
Thanks for the videos, and look forward to seeing you all next season.
Rice is a voice of reason vis a vis Ukraine.
H.R. made the most sense to me.
Putin accepting people over 40 into the military, suggests to me, he intends this to not only still be going on in a year, but to intensify (in a year).
Thanks guys and gal for a great episode! Lots of food for thought here.
Superb great conversation a staple for me every week!!
Very sad to hear about the summer break. I will miss you!
Ms Rice’s clarity is refreshing.
I look forward to every episode.
Love this podcast.
Any chance Condi could be convinced to run for President?
A most interesting discussion without a simple solution.
Thanks for Uploading.

Sad.
Gonna miss you guys over the break
Loved it as always.

We haven't had that experiment before. ..Iran is oil dates and rugs....you made my day Condi

Nice and informative debate, particularly when HR was there as he’s good at playing clown
Bravo for Condi

Is it true that only Russia had the launch codes for the nukes in Ukraine that they gave up in return for territorial integrity?
Great conversation, have a great summer fella's
I laughed out loud at the Joe Pesci/Stephen Kotkin comment.
Digital currency + education + aircraft carriers battle groups + submarines + the rest of the military equipments should the China keep building. Your meeting's conversation give me the idea.
Love Condy
Wow Ms Condi is not looking one day older. Can we see her on the piano again? 🥰
By planning to join the NATO, it means that Ukraine is rearming its nuclear capability.
I believe they need to raise the age for young adults to own guns. Plus people need to do their jobs when our government makes Rules.🇺🇸
🇺🇸 CONDI 🇺🇸

I'm with Niall ....... US is in denial about guns.
