Okayyyy, mom lookin good!! Mom said “oh good, that’s doable”😂😂 I have 3 grown daughters and we can spend hours in a book store! When they were little we would go to Boarders! It does hit differently now being able to look up reviews and find cheaper prices. I may leave with less books (ordering them on Amazon) but the time I spend with my girls is precious and priceless❤️📚

You might like "The Wedding" by Dorothy West. She was a writer during the Harlem Renaissance so she was a contemporary of a lot of artists whose works are viewed as American classics. The book was made into a mini-series starring Halle Berry as aa bride who is pursued by a man who is more acceptable to her family even though she's already engaged to someone else.

I had to pause this video to comment. Queenie is excellent! I heard that it wasn't good etc etc but I was still so intrigued by it and I found it at a second hand bookstore and I thought, what do I have to lose? Plus I love the cover! I really liked it.
Also, re: classics - it's totally different picking out your own classic versus being assigned something someone in a position of power thinks you should read. Give classics a second chance!
I love the idea of you reading more than romance and thrillers - I love hearing your thoughts and opinions and I think you'd have valuable and knowledgeable things to say about other genres. Maybe start with like one a month so you don't feel bombarded?
I love that idea! I think adding in one or two books outside of the genres I usually pick is going to be really fun!

I’m reading Queenie right now and she is definitely unhinged. 😂 I’m enjoying it. I don’t think the main character has to be likable for the book to be good. The way it’s written reminds me of the show “Chewing Gum” ( the character in the show is also about an unhinged Black British woman). I also saw on the author’s instagram that Queenie will be a show coming out this year.

Queenie in my opinion wasn’t a bad book I just didn’t like the character herself, she irritated me sooooooooo bad 😂
You need to read some Jane Austen and also have you read To Kill A Mockingbird, a must read. Try The Thorn Birds too soooo good! Read The Ya Ya Sisterhood back in the day very funny and good. Please read The Last Flight by Julie Clarke, a favorite of mine so good. James Patterson old books are good but his newer stuff not so much. He has written so many books that they just aren’t that good anymore. Good Luck plus your Mom is so nice!
