Not to beat this horse, but listen to these guys Landon. I’m 47 with three wrecked disks in my lower back along with nerve pain in my leg that won’t let me sleep a lot of nights. Take care of your back now, because there’s nothing that can be done to make it better. And watch out on your knees also… that’s another challenge. You can’t hunt elk if you can’t walk, ‘nuf said.

Hope they don't get away with closing the trail. What they do here in Washington is you drive the trails all year and when you come back the next year the trails have gates and ditches. They sneak it in when no one is watching and of course the media helps by ignoring the story. Its amazing how much planning and (our) money goes into sneaking in these closures, whereas you never see them spend any of our money on improvements. Join the Blue ribbon coalition!!

Cooler lines tee off to circulate through a cooling loop that is inside transfer. Funny valve in cooler lines is to regulate a surge in line pressure. Note common leeaking from hoses, fix is use fuel line clamps on the rubber hoses or double hose clamp. Red "candy" is anarobic sealant that is supposed to stay soft (also used on portal hub input seal plate). Should be a steel cable that goes from transfer case to crossmember to counter torque twist. Black tubing is vent system that goes up to airfilter housing and a small filter behind it on fire wall. Trans takes 7.7 quarts with filter change.

I've often wondered if the slow creepy crawly technique that was letting the HUMMER make progress on that steep bottomless sand hill would allow a vehicle to make forward, albeit very slow, progress. I'd have also been interested to see if the FJ might have done something similar in its lowest gearing configuration just idling along, but I don't know/recall what kind of gear ratios the FJ has for transmission, low range transfer case, and final drive. Maybe an experiment for the net time the FJ is on that obstacle. But I'm also pretty sure Paul's preferred MO in that situation is "maximum onion and let that V8 roar!" 🤠

People dog on the HMMWV'S, but they really are a pretty incredible design! The engine, Transmission, and T-case are at all the greatest! An LS engine swap, and upgraed drivetrain would make it incredible! I was a 3521 in the Marines, and know them front to back!

The candy is what you call anaerobic sealer. General motors and Humvee use it a lot to seal transmissions to transfercase, pans and etc.

The HMMWV has a deep water fording kit that connects all of the vent lines from every thing that holds fluid to a single line that runs up the side of the fording stack (air intake). When the fording valve is closed it uses the crankcase to pressure all of the fluid systems so that water cannot come in through a bad seal. If you drive the vehicle for any length of time with the fording valve closed the pressure can push transfer case fluid out through the fording lines to wherever the weakest seals are, usually the geared hubs. Usually the leaking overfilled hubs are the only way to notice.
Make sure the fording valve is open so you dont have the same problem again.

At 09:05 that blue shop towel looks very much like my bath towel. Nothing but the best for guests, I guess.
