Savage .22-250 is my favorite iron. Knowing your twist & your cartridge is everything. For me, Hornady's 50 grain Suerformance in an Axis II with 1:12 is a great cartridge a little past 700 yards. Great Savage quality & accuracy. Much-appreciated video!
I love Savage guns. I used them to hunt and I’ve had wonderful success with them. I have this rifle and use the scope that came with it. The scope is fine but I upgraded to a better one and got the marginal results I wanted hunting groundhogs from 100 to 350 yards with most shots at 200 yards. I love this setup and I’m real happy with how it performs. I used the old scope quite often and had no problems with it. I use the old scope on my .22 magnum now with great results.
Love my savages back in the late 80s had a factory round that was faulty blow up the bolt stayed locked. Even though the bolt was in a few pieces when I opened it. Called savage and they said send it in .Rifle season started just over two weeks later and I had my savage in my hand opening morning. They repaired it and cost me nothing. That's customer service.
I hate to hear of accidents but I sure like hearing about good customer service! I've been a fan of Savage rifles for a long time. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview just lucky the bolt lugs held. Been told by several gunsmith that if another brand might not been so lucky. Because savage has three locking lugs.
10 years ago I bought my first 22 250 I had just had shoulder surgery I my 7mm mag was just to painful at the time,I found a weatherby Vanguard 22 250 used I think I gave 400 for it with a Leopold 3x9x50 scope and after shooting it fell in love no recoil same hole groups at 100 yards, I killed 3 deer with it quick clean kills, but laid it my tool box 2 years ago and drove off gun fell on the road got ran over so went to Wally world bought the axis 22 250 and Remington cor lockt bullets I got groups like yours good but not good enough, tried hornady little better Winchester was the worst but my brother found some BarnesTSX ammo I thought it was junk at first I fired 5 rounds from my Caldwell lead sled all 5 made a dime sized group, and absolutely devastating on deer and hogs the axis and Barnes will out shoot most high dollar guns
Sir you have a beautiful range, and you shot very good, by the way i just bought one, with camo color, plant to go to the wood this weekend to sight in... thank you Sir.... love it...
I have the old Edge model in 22/250 with a Timney trigger and I get 1/2" groups @ 100yds with hand loads. I love the gun. Basically, if I can see it, I can hit it with the gun. It blows up crows and annihilates coyotes. I own several Savage firearms, you can spend more money...but you will not get a more accurate gun. Nice video.
Great video sir! I love my axis in 22-250 also, just can’t beat these bolt guns for accuracy vrs cost. Have you considered putting a bipod on it? It greatly helped my groups. The apple sauce left in a hurry didn’t it?😋
It's my first Bergara It's the B14 HMR 22-250 I'm shooting less than 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammunition so far I'm very impressed with it. You would definitely like the Bergara in my opinion. Your videos are Amazing I really enjoy them
@@robertsalyers1351 I think the best group I've ever shot was with my Savage 22-250. Back before I started doing this channel, I was at a range in Texas and shot a 1" group at 300yds. I credit it to big heavy sandbags, zero wind and lots of luck! I have looked at them several times but just haven't wanted to shell out the cash for one yet. Thanks very much for the compliment and thanks again for watching!
Superformance is junk 250 ammo. Me and some buddies took 5 different rifles to the range and not one would hold less than 2 moa at 100 yards. My 270 is 4 moa with superformance, switched to barnes and instantly went to 1 moa.

Scope is mounted too high. You can tell you aren't getting a proper cheek weld. Keep practicing like that and you'll be sure to develop bad habits. That rifle is probably much more accurate than you are shooting it. That 4 shot group was less than impressive.
I'm not trying to show off my shooting skills, I'm not a professional by any means. I did shoot an 1-1/8" group @ 300yds. though, just not on this video.

It is my favorite, but I love ALL of "the barrel burners". 😉👍

I dont like the Hornady ammo 4k per sec. I have found them to not be that accurate. Sometimes slowing them down a little provides more accuracy.
I only tried the Hornady and Federal (bulk ammo) in this rifle, the Hornady performed better and it seems I've always had good results with it.
I recommend using a heavier projectile with the 1/12 twist
My browning x-bolt 1/9 loves 55gr all rounds touching every time
The rounds seem to do ok, my shooting skills though........! I'll have to give them a try, thanks for the tip!
Found myself with a bunch of rounds, and wanted to see if the gun was worth it. Might have to take the plunge!
The 22-250 is a pretty amazing round and my Savage delivers them well. Thanks for watching!
Lead sled is better than a backpack for a stable rest or even a few sandbags work great.
Sometimes you gotta "Run what ya brung"!
Also not going to have a lead sled in a real world situation. But you'll probably have a back pack.
Any one can tell me were I can get a stock for this rifle? I wana buy a precision stock but scared the stock won’t fit bc they are expensive
Check with Boyds, they make some really nice ones and I've never heard anything bad about them. Good luck and thanks for watching!

I shot 1-1/8" group @ 300 yds off sandbags with Superformance, I was getting about a 3-1/2" group with Winchester bulk ammo @ 300 yds.
I like your bag.
It's got room for all kinds of goodies, and it doubles as a shooting bag sometimes.
