Mark Agnesi was THE best person for these reviews, discussing all the technical points. Plus, he has a nice manner, and plenty of humour, along with that encyclopediac knowledge. Some young reviewers today, on this and other channels, struggle with a limited vocabulary, and a basic lack of knowledge regarding vintage guitars. I don't want to hear that word "mojo", ever. And, the best demonstrations of vintage guitars were by Phil X, on Fretted America. Those are old clips now, but still entertaining, with amazing playing. As for this guitar, it's as good as it gets. I think these models look far better without the painted headstock.
How great would be have longer shows like this to watch, talking about guitars, showing gear, and etc, with more definition and etc, how great... thanks youtube.
gonna check, thanks, if you have more bring them ! Stitcher is any kind of site ? just searched, its like a radio ? hard for me, i talk spanish, i understand english but not perfect, but would be good at least give a try.
This is the guitar on the cover of Loveless. Not the exact one, but pretty sure this was Kevin Shields' main guitar during that era. One of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, that's for sure!
Mark you are so awesome how you play so many cover songs. I so enjoy your information and your playing. Thanks to you and Jen keep on keeping on both of you!
#WeirdAssWednesday #1960JazzMaster 1) the way you used to do/ Queens Stone Age 2) walk don’t run/ the Ventures 3) pump it up/Elvis Costello 🤘🏻 sorry I’m late! was in the studio🎸 what’s up Mark & Jen🎸🎥
Neck Pickup: The Way You Used to Be - Queens of the Stone Age Middle Pickup: Walk Don't Run - The Ventures (#ClassicSurfRock) Bridge Pickup: Pump It Up - Elvis Costello & the Attractions
I love Jazzmaster guitars...gotta have at least one! I have a 3 tone Sunburst...not vintage but still sweet. That red one is awesome..I want a 62..possibly seafoam green..if they made em that color then. Bucket list!
Jazzmasters are great guitars, they complete the triumvirate of my fave Fenders: Tele, Strat, Jazzmaster. I don't include the Jaguar. I know some folks love them and they do have a certain sound and vibe. But I'll take a Jazzmaster. Those Fender P-90 type single coils have some nastiness and more tone than most guitar players realize. Mark has the amp pretty loud so it's pretty distorted (not sayin' that's a bad thing) but these guitars sound terrific when they're loud and clean. The middle position has a real lush sound. Beautiful.
P.S. Mark, would you do a Les Paul Custom or Standard with Tim Shaw humbuckers? Those would be in the early to mid 80's, Norlin era. The Shaws are great and there are a lot of Les Pauls with them. Super tone, well designed and manufactured. Shaw is a true pickup guru. I think folks would like to hear how good these pickups sound. They can bring $500 and more for a pair these days. Shaws and Les Pauls are a par- ticularly good match.
Hey Mark, I hope this isn't asking too much but my uncle passed earlier this morning and he really loved Rush so if you could do up something for him it would really mean alot he's the kinda guy who would go around telling people "Neil Peart is a god" although I'm the guitar fan in the family I know he'd still appreciate a song. Thanks a ton for all the work you do Sincerely Evan
I like and would lick(?) that color! 1.Is that a hipster song Mr Hipster Criticizer?:-)..Queens Of The Stone Age "The Way You Used To Be" 2 .The Ventures "Walk don't Run" 3. Elvis Costello 'Pump It Up"..Remember most people have the right to be incorrect...
offsets just turn me on.. in just the right way. I never knew a tortoise guard on candy apple red could look so good. The history on this makes me wonder about my 63 olympic white jag. I'm pretty sure its a refinish, but not 100%. Does not have the matching headstock, however, if it was a refin, it was refined most likely in the 60s by fender after the fact. Under the pickguard a "sb" is soldered. Which kind of adds to the mystery..I know many custom color guitars were originally sunburst, but when a custom order came in, they just spray painted over the sunburst.. so I'm not sure I'll ever know unless I talk or have someone inspect the guitar who really knows their shit.
A 62 JAZZMASTER... HMMM ... HOPE IT SOUNDS GOOD ~ IT SURE LOOKS COOL ~ PURDY ~ GREAT NECK TONES ~ THE COMBO TONES ARE TRYING TO COME THROUGH ~ THE OVERALL SOUND OF THIS GUITAR IS DARK ~ ANOTHER AMP CHOICE OR SETTING WOULD HAVE HELPED GREATLY ~ I'D BUY IT ~ CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042 USA
Mark! I'm begging you man, please play some Dinosaur Jr next time you play a Jazz! All that surf stuff is great, But Dino is the reason the Jazz is still relevant today!
I never bump or ding my guitars. Also I play them carefully. Dont trash them at all, aside from fretwear. But my cases? Yeah, those get trashed from moving them a lot. Wouldnt pass the test.

I can see it now. Mark with his own Netflix series.😁
Dude there are full-length Guitar podcasts and “shows” all over the place and on YT. Do a search on Stitcher.
gonna check, thanks, if you have more bring them ! Stitcher is any kind of site ? just searched, its like a radio ? hard for me, i talk spanish, i understand english but not perfect, but would be good at least give a try.

David Babb just missing the matching headstock!
absolute dream guitar (with the headstock of course)
Kevin Shields is a troll. He actually used a vacuum cleaner thorough loveless
1. Queens of the Stone Age-The Way You Used to Do
2. Ventures-Walk Don't Run
3. Elvis Costello-Pump it Up
Ian Pavelko I remember playing Pump It Up on Rock Band 2 back in the day
I think for my generation, this model is most easily associated with Elvis Costello.

Back in the day the Jazzmaster was the guitar of choice for Indo-rock bands like the Tielman Brothers.

I always thought the case test was where you slam the lid against the shelf and it survives.
Thanks for playing some "Surf " Would like to hear some Jan & Dean ( Tedesco/Campbell/Strange) Thanks
Mark* opens case. Me* Moans in lust.
I'm in before MikeyMojo to tell me the songs lol

Maybe you could start an Amp of the day post? Maybe on Wednesdays!!
Whatever the “case“ may be, that is one killer-looking axe.
The drawback for me is that it’s only got 21 frets.
some Dinosaur Jr on your next Jazzmaster would be nice 😀

Is the cap in the rhythm circuit at all to the cap in the dark circuits that you find on Telecasters?
Candy Apple Rad!
You are also supposed to throw a Television song in there Tom Verlaine was a Jazzmaster player.
thump it brothers and sisters
Can you keep a jazzmaster or jaguar in the case with the trem arm in? I've been removing mine every time and it's a pain in the vag.
John Danek I've actually never thought of that. It's a really good question
can we do a flying v friday?
Have you ever done a clear body guitar?
Should it not have a white pickguard as it's a custom colour?
Firstl you do an ep. on my STRAT And now Queens of the Stone Age, alright I'm in
