he went from no one being able to understand a word he sang in the early days to the audience drowning him out and singing all of his lines word perfect here...spine tingling
Haha... Its my favourite Clash song and wanted to know if he could sing it well live.... I'll have to look elsewhere 😂.... The crowd were brilliant though 👍
Every time I see this, I get overcome by two emotions.. Sheer joy in seeing Strummer so happy towards the end of his life... and sadness because he's gone. What a soul!
Charisma ingrained into every ounce of his body and soul. If ever a man fulfilled his destiny, it was Joe Strummer. Born to be a leader, born to perform, and born to change peoples lives. He and The Clash certainly changed mine, and I'm in my fifties now but the passion is as strong as ever. I cried like a baby when I heard about Joe's death, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I agree with everything y.ou say. I cried when he died just as if he was a member of my own family....I felt it so much. He is a true genius and was a massive part of my life for over 50 years.
My favourite performance of my favourite Clash song - all those folks singing along sending me shivers every time, and Joe's doing a fine job as always. Must have been one of his last concerts though.
The crowd is absolutely, positively, super-psyched to be there in the presence of the greatest punk rock musician & man who ever lived!!! WOW! So f'n incredible! Bravo!!!
Can't begin to explain how jealous I am of my mum - she went to one of Joe's last concerts and was stood right opposite him. He even said to her 'it might get a bit rough down there'. What an honour it must have been to watch this man perform. 🎶
A force of nature at work. More than 20 years after he wrote the song, it still rouses and inspires that audience, almost like disciples recalling a sacred hymm. What a song. What a man. We wont see his like again for many a long day.
I really wish joe was still here today, miss him so much a true legend, Iggy may have created punk but nobody ever did it the way the clash and joe strummer did it,
My hero.. meant so much to me growing up. Had the pleasure of meeting Joe as he walked down the street in Worcester MA. Could not have been nicer. The greatest to me. What passion n energy he always had
When Joe Strummer tells you to sing, you sing your heart out which is what this audience did! can tell it made Joe happy by his faint smile at the beginning 😊
I saw him live and he just left my mates and I speachles. Mouthy teenagers walked sweat dripped into the icy night to the bus stop Quiet and never the same again. R.I.P Joe flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.
The 4 dislikes are probably people thinking, 'the crowd is singing TOO loud. I can't hear it like the recording'. What I wouldn't give to be in a theater singing along with Joe now. Sing your hearts out crowd.
I miss Joe so bad, as well as the Clash....I met him here in SF w/ the Mescaleros in the late 90's...awesome gent. Their music and voices will carry on, spreading the truth....
Just Brilliant joe an the crowd never miss a beat you can feel the love gave me goosebumps RIP joe you gave me the sound track of my youth thanks mate .
Joe Srummer reminds me of bad times, when I had scabies, living in a shed, were I had to force open the door with my 11 stone frame to his the world with fuzz on my face, going crazy for a wash, and wishing my cloathes were clean.Never happened I have a house of my own now, with a dog that is my best friend. I'll never forget that song, and their music previously. The Clash were fantastic, and in a strange way yeknow,if I was not homeless,i wouldn't have cared less..Joe Strummer=Boss man
Happy to say I saw the Clash 6 times in Cleveland or Akron. The first show handed out Clash iron ones promoting WMMS. God, I wore that shirt all the time. RIP Joe!
Ya got blood on the streets, ha, ya think it's funny....Turnin rebellion into money......One of the greatest lines ever written...Peace to you Joe Strummer
have to absolutely agree with Ben Phillips with this version and no surprise it was Joe!! and the clash all the way!! and did great homage to this great clash goodie!! RIP JOE TEARS WELL FROM MY EYES they all turn rebellion into money any the gist of what you meant was , was it really rebellion? nope just money!!
At this moment, endless loop listening to the great performance of joe and the audience 20 years ago, the 28th day of war engulfing Ukraine, 132 souls on the downed plane, I am crying
Pure Poetry Strummer should have been Prime Minister The Youth today don’t understand this song and all their lyrics should be studied at school As an an Indian 14 yr old punk this was my mantra - 55 still quote the lyrics The Clash SLF Dead Kennedy’s all relevant today
I'm 15 and adore this music. My friend's listen to stupid rap music. They mock me for having a bad taste in music by I'm glad I like this. They don't know what they are missing out on. I'm so sad I wasn't old enough to see them live.
Sham Soni Joe Strummer day inspired me to make more risks In life. But like, in a good way you know? Like not too crazy but just enough to make life interesting and fun. Sometimes it’s a little rough on my report card though...
20 dislikes - from the producers of Burton suits. The second half of the song was my personal moment of liberation, waaay back. Eternal respect to Joe.
Without question the best thing out of the 70s. Hope you're raising hell up there, Joe! "The new groups are not concerned with what there is to be learned. They got Burton suits and think it's funny turning rebellion into money." Today they just talk about breakups and money.
Played this at my daughter's funeral, she was 19 years old, she took her life. We used to sing this in the car, I miss her so much.
I am so sorry. Keep your daughter's soul and memories alive . She is with you.
We are all in this madness together.
Sending love to you from Austria!
I'm so sorry it's heartbreaking
Blessings
Who ever you are listening to this I love you.
I'm 53 years old and there are very few things left in the world that are sure to choke me up. This video is one of them. Every. Damn. Time.
The world would be a far better place if we could have him back.
im gonna cry watching this. It's too good to even comprehend.

he went from no one being able to understand a word he sang in the early days to the audience drowning him out and singing all of his lines word perfect here...spine tingling
There was an interview where they asked Joe why he didn't pronounce the words better. He said that would take "all the piss outta them".
SOULJAH ROCKER
Even singing the backup vocals! It moves me so much.
Haha... Its my favourite Clash song and wanted to know if he could sing it well live.... I'll have to look elsewhere 😂.... The crowd were brilliant though 👍

Jake Andrews I was reading your comment at that exact moment of the video too... 🤯
Haha ikr!
Me too
I don't know why, but i find that comment hilarious
@@SombraPilotoweird that exact moment here too.

Same
He'll be back . The 🌎 desperately needs Old Souls , more than Ever
If Adolf Hitler were to run today... The Americans would re-elect him.
This world could use Joe's wisdom again.
Hearing the audience sing so loud really warms my heart! I wish I was in that crowd that day.
Charisma ingrained into every ounce of his body and soul. If ever a man fulfilled his destiny, it was Joe Strummer. Born to be a leader, born to perform, and born to change peoples lives.

he surely would have
viva la Joe Strummer viva la clash
He was pure integrity
I agree with everything y.ou say. I cried when he died just as if he was a member of my own family....I felt it so much. He is a true genius and was a massive part of my life for over 50 years.
I totally agree with you!
When he died, I was too young to realize it, but I'm sure I would have cried as well.
Right with ya, Me Too
Happy Birthday Joe wherever you are, you Legend!
First time I hear this version. Makes me cry the sound of the people, just a great song.
His greatest song...and to this day, one of the best toons ever written. Goosebumps.
I can't get enough of this, great rendition! A former "punk" song turns into a great sing along! We miss you Joe!
Joe cracking a faint smile has the crowd joins in at the beginning!1
It gets to my heart that you can barely hear Strummer cos the crowd is singing along

The moment at 1:15 when he realizes everyone singing along is heart-braking. God damn I miss him.
I love that the crowd is singing the backup vocals, too.
I LOVE this audience!
It would annoy me if I was there. I paid to hear the singer perform, not the crowd.

So beautiful. And at the same time it makes you want to cry.
My favourite performance of my favourite Clash song - all those folks singing along sending me shivers every time, and Joe's doing a fine job as always. Must have been one of his last concerts though.

Hard to put into words quite what this is. More passion and heart than most of today's musicians added together. The best!
I love Joe Strummer so much I really wish he was still here today.
