I waited long enough that my hoarded PowerShot SD630 has come back into style and I couldn't figure out why no matter what card I tried, it always said CARD LOCKED and/or MEMORY CARD ERROR. Hope you still check this out and help Mr I got the onn digital camcorder at Walmart yes the cheap $20 one I can't drop a lot of money right now for a good one but I got 16gb sandisk c4 sdhc SD card it will not lock into my camera I'm locking and unlocking card switched it to face other way which obviously won't go in that way. I've done it all except for jamming and forcing it in which I highly doubt would work anyways. The instruction says its 2017 made but since it is so cheap, I am wondering if I need a non sdhc card but idk any thoughts?
Thank you for the card unlock advice it was in the unlock position but needed reset by sliding in lock position and unlock position again making sure it was slid right to the end, and worked like a charm Thanks!
Ther is one stupid issue with my sd card ...i unlock it and when i insert it back it comes back to lock position all by itself and i get the message wite protect..no what am i to do?? plze help !!

Wow!!! You are the camera guru in my book. I have an older Cannon Power Shot SX 40HS. I have had it about 6 years. One day it displayed the msg "memory card error" I was stumped..Long story short went to Best Buy purchased a memory card thinking this one was pretty old 8GB speed 8 and now seeing they are up to 16 GB. I thought okay this must be the problem. To my dismay it did not work. (Now I know why) I watched your video for memory cards with the formatting and toothpick and I was pleasantly surprised it fixed the issue. Thank you so much you saved me alot of money. Your awesome!
Here in 2021, if you are using an older camera, make sure that your memory card is no larger than 32GB. Older cameras do not recognize 64GB or larger cards as they use a different format.

Thanks for the informative video! I thought you would describe a way to save cards that for strange reasons stop being recognized by the OS. No physical damage, the card just decided to stop working. No software will fix a card that can't be seen in the computer! How does one go about this? Thank you!
I referred to the PowerShot Canon 520 manual to format a new memory card but receive "Memory card error" message. The lock is not on, and I am using a 2GB memory card, the exact same card as I am currently using in the camera with no problem. The only visible difference between the new card and the one currently in use is that the slide lock on the old card is white and on the new card it is gold. Any suggestions?

I've tried all of the methods you explained in this video aside from two, the soldering (because I don't know how to) and the formatting method. When I tried to format my microSD card on my Canon Powershot SX50 HS camera, the option was in the tool menu,but I could not select it. My laptop also is not reading the card. Hello my D750 gives me error ERR when I enter my SdHc C10 card in Slot 1 and works well in Slot 2 .. I think the problem is that the card reader has been locked .. Hello. I tried the tape trick with no success (thanks anyway). The one thing that worked for me was to use a replacement memory card adapter (with the same memory card). I have about four different memory cards for a variety of devices (Nintendo Switch, Canon Camera, etc.). Some devices (like my camera) use the adapter, others (like my Switch) do not and so I have extra adapters for memory cards like I don't normally use. Best that I can figure is that the electronic circuitry inside the adapter that I pitched got compromised some how (broken / corroded / other).

i was taking pictures with my fuji sl310 camera couples of days back. I used twinmos SDHC 16GB memory card. Everything was fine. I just turned the camera off for few min and turned it back on after that it shows "memory card error". It doesnt give any other message. I tried other memory card in cam all are working. I tried to check it using card reader to my pc, but it was no effect. Windows couldnt find it. Nothing appears and nothing happens. I showed it to some professionals they said its completely dead. Now is there any hope that I can retrieve my data from that card. Its really important for me as I had captured lots of valuable pictures that I cant afford to loose. Pls help anyone....
I have a Sony SDHC 16GB camera card. I have been using it with no problems and today, for the first time, it read card full. Now, according to the camera, my computer and my Husbands computer there are no items on the card but I can't use the camera. The idiots at the tech shop where I got my SD card from gave me a class 4 for my DSLR... It worked while I was taking (paid) photos, but now it's not working... So I have no idea how I'm going to get those photos back. I'm so angry. I didn't know about the classes until I saw this video
I had a problem with an SD card I was using in my Nikon DSLR. I could obviously write to the card in the camera, but taking the card out and putting it in the computer, I could transfer pictures, but could not delete from the card. I kept getting the write protected message.. Then.... After formatting the card in the camera I put it back in the computer and was able to cut and paste a picture onto the card. I was then able to delete it as well. I was also able to format the card. I still don't know what the problem was. Maybe the formatting used by the camera ?

Maybe you can help me? even the geeks at best buy can not help me, here is my problem= I bought two 128GB micro cards, I am trying to save video files from my computer onto the cards, all video are edited and produced with cyberlink power director with 1920x1080 windows media player output, all videos are under 30 min, even a 30 min video is still in the 1gb range or less, however when I try to load multiple videos onto my cards , I have an adapter the micro card fits into, then I plug that into the computer port, then a windo pops up where I can click and drag my video files onto my micro card, however, I have tried several different format options, and space allocation ranges, but no matter what I do, after I load a few videos, and I get between 7 to 8 GB of data onto the 128GB cards, It will not load any more video properly, I can click n drag a video to load onto the card, but the file will be corrupted, and will not play, this happens to both my 128gb micro cards, after I load between 7 or 8 gb of video data. I go to the properties and it tells me free space vs used space, this is getting very frustrating, what am I doing wrong? and yes in the properties, I check the box to optimize for video, but still why cant I fill up my card I have 8gb used space, and 120 free space, but it will not load any more vids???????????????? please help.

Hi please help me!!! I just bought a kit off amazon that came with Nikon d3400 and a 64gb card. They are brand new and I have never been able to use the card. I cannot even attempt to format it because the camera will not turn on at all when the card is inserted. I can however use some old 2GB cards I have, but whenever the 64gb card is inserted, the camera will not turn on and the memory card lamp on the back lower right corner of the camera flashes. I’ve tried to insert the card into my MacBook Air, and the MacBook also doesn’t recognize that the card is even inserted. I have no idea where to go from here. I’ve looked up the card compatibility charts online and it looks like the card itself should be compatible with my camera (and also I purchased the camera and card together in a kit and users who have reviewed the kit seemed to be able to use the card just fine). Please help me figure out what is going on here and how I can use this card

The small memory cards are commonly called microSD. But in fact thats not true. They have their own name. These are Tf cards. I suspect Tf stands for Tiny as FK. !

my sd card is a "SanDisk for WII SD 2GB" is it the wron type? before this type of sd card,i used a "Kodak Memory Card 8GB SDHC". it worked perfectly but he it got stuck inside the WII SD CARD SLOT and when i took it out,somehow i broke (i found it broken inside the WII SD CARD SLOT after i inserted it. thank you for your review i bought a Firefly Hawkeye 6s but i can not use it because every sd card i used class 10 from 4-32gb i get the message CARD FULL!!!! my firmware is the 2.6 and i have formatted the card in fat32 several times but the problem persists. i tried to reinstall the firmware but is impossible to do it . I've tried all of the methods you explained in this video aside from two, the soldering (because I don't know how to) and the formatting method. When I tried to format my microSD card on my Canon Powershot SX50 HS camera, the option was in the tool menu,but I could not select it. My laptop also is not reading the card. Hello my D750 gives me error ERR when I enter my SdHc C10 card in Slot 1 and works well in Slot 2 .. I think the problem is that the card reader has been locked .. Hello. I tried the tape trick with no success (thanks anyway). The one thing that worked for me was to use a replacement memory card adapter (with the same memory card). I have about four different memory cards for a variety of devices (Nintendo Switch, Canon Camera, etc.). Some devices (like my camera) use the adapter, others (like my Switch) do not and so I have extra adapters for memory cards like I don't normally use. Best that I can figure is that the electronic circuitry inside the adapter that I pitched got compromised some how (broken / corroded / other).
My camera's a canon and I'm using a 8GB (I got my SD card with my camera in 2013) it worked before but now there's an error and the lock thing doesn't work

i was taking pictures with my fuji sl310 camera couples of days back. I used twinmos SDHC 16GB memory card. Everything was fine. I just turned the camera off for few min and turned it back on after that it shows "memory card error". It doesnt give any other message. I tried other memory card in cam all are working. I tried to check it using card reader to my pc, but it was no effect. Windows couldnt find it. Nothing appears and nothing happens. I showed it to some professionals they said its completely dead. Now is there any hope that I can retrieve my data from that card. Its really important for me as I had captured lots of valuable pictures that I cant afford to loose. Pls help anyone....
I have a Sony SDHC 16GB camera card. I have been using it with no problems and today, for the first time, it read card full. Now, according to the camera, my computer and my Husbands computer there are no items on the card but I can't use the camera. I clean out the card after every use putting the pics in files and deleting whats on the card. I never ran into this problem before. Have you?

The idiots at the tech shop where I got my SD card from gave me a class 4 for my DSLR... It worked while I was taking (paid) photos, but now it's not working... So I have no idea how I'm going to get those photos back. I'm so angry. I didn't know about the classes until I saw this video
I had a problem with an SD card I was using in my Nikon DSLR.
I could obviously write to the card in the camera, but taking the card out and putting it in the computer, I could transfer pictures, but could not delete from the card.
I kept getting the write protected message.. Then.... After formatting the card in the camera I put it back in the computer and was able to cut and paste a picture onto the card. I was then able to delete it as well. I was also able to format the card.
I still don't know what the problem was. Maybe the formatting used by the camera ?

Maybe you can help me? even the geeks at best buy can not help me, here is my problem= I bought two 128GB micro cards, I am trying to save video files from my computer onto the cards, all video are edited and produced with cyberlink power director with 1920x1080 windows media player output, all videos are under 30 min, even a 30 min video is still in the 1gb range or less, however when I try to load multiple videos onto my cards , I have an adapter the micro card fits into, then I plug that into the computer port, then a windo pops up where I can click and drag my video files onto my micro card, however, I have tried several different format options, and space allocation ranges, but no matter what I do, after I load a few videos, and I get between 7 to 8 GB of data onto the 128GB cards, It will not load any more video properly, I can click n drag a video to load onto the card, but the file will be corrupted, and will not play, this happens to both my 128gb micro cards, after I load between 7 or 8 gb of video data. I go to the properties and it tells me free space vs used space, this is getting very frustrating, what am I doing wrong? and yes in the properties, I check the box to optimize for video, but still why cant I fill up my card I have 8gb used space, and 120 free space, but it will not load any more vids???????????????? please help.

Hi please help me!!! I just bought a kit off amazon that came with Nikon d3400 and a 64gb card. They are brand new and I have never been able to use the card. I cannot even attempt to format it because the camera will not turn on at all when the card is inserted. I can however use some old 2GB cards I have, but whenever the 64gb card is inserted, the camera will not turn on and the memory card lamp on the back lower right corner of the camera flashes. I’ve tried to insert the card into my MacBook Air, and the MacBook also doesn’t recognize that the card is even inserted. I have no idea where to go from here. I’ve looked up the card compatibility charts online and it looks like the card itself should be compatible with my camera (and also I purchased the camera and card together in a kit and users who have reviewed the kit seemed to be able to use the card just fine). Please help me figure out what is going on here and how I can use this card

My camera said yesterday that there was no memory card, and today I am sure at one point it said card locked but mostly card error. I tried to do the lock and unlock, maybe it fixed my card from being locked but I still have the card error sign. I have precious pictures on it so I am in distress. I tried to format from my camera but it won't give me the option to click on format on my camera and on my computer it won't show up that I have inserted a card onto my laptop. if you can please advise it would be very much appreciated.
