Like David Bowie, Kate is her own category, and that category is ever changing.
Just hearing the word "Kissyflakes" makes me want to bundlehug her!
come back kate we miss u
It's an understated and magnificent album that constantly rewards you as you become familiar with the songs. Kate's vocals and lyrics have grown wonderfully. My favourite album of the year by far
This album came out when I was living away from home, at university for the first time. I'll always remember listening to it in my dark dorm room.
Awe hi
My first impression when hearing the Album was. OMG this is not what I wanted this album to be! But like a good wine you have to let this one breath, it is most similar to Ninth wave but smaller and more reigned in. If you are looking for delicious melodies then you would be better off listening to Kate's most able successor Joanna Newsome, if however you want to put the time in you will find 50WFS a worthwhile chillout.
I love this album so much. It's beautiful from the first note to the last note. Must say I like Kate's method. You have a chance to miss her putting out new songs/albums. I see so many current singers drop album after album and you just don't get a chance to miss them. It brings on the overkill factor when you have that going on imo.
@Cloudbustin I've resisted all the NPR previews, but resisting the ones on her website is proving... well... impossible. I adore the sound of this album so far and am just utterly chuffed on so many levels. It's all a bit kooky, but not in the "trying to be" way, but in the sense that it's just not what you usually hear. It's the way music should be and I'm delighted Kate is making it :)
@zanyzoo6767 it's ingenious! Not surprised that some hate it....it's a classic piece of modern art as music. Spellbinding, sensual and hypnotic.
Kate Bush remains, remains, remains... the last true original of our times. Thank God she still takes the time and makes the almighty creative effort to produce such wondrous work. A fan since 1985, and forever shall be so...
I just had to let go of my petty bias against Elton and Stephen as this album is much too gorgeous to let that spoil it. They are both very good on it actually. My album of the year by a country mile. I'm glad
I live in the time of the Bush.
a very nice ad, really well done and evoking curiosity...
I have already listened to the album, my copy hopefully will arrive from an on-line shop on the date of the release :))
congratulations, Kate!
@madJedi1, she's an old world Celtic Catholic. Look for Among Angels and The Fog.
I'm so excited to go out and buy this album on monday! I hope that it snows! Don't ever stop releasing albums Kate! You're simply the best! Love from Sweden
Come on man you've got 32 to goooooo!
best album ad ever for the most creative artist ever.
@sipodge
No, but you get him coming to your pub gigs, concerts and having tea with you instead.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Kate. I know her family who live in the same town as me, and I been listening to her music for as long as I can remember. I just don't think it's appropriate to falsely insult other artists on a Kate Bush video.
this album is brilliant. Kate with confidence and purpose. Its up their with the Dreaming and hounds. BUY IT.
I like what I'm hearing so far...
I'm super excited about this album!
@creeuk i think it is an album that needs to be listened a few times. It is boring ? why ? because there are no hits ? To my mind, 50 words (and particulary Snowflakes & Lake tahoe) illustrates her storyteller power much than the red shoes never did.
Brilliant advert and very catchy song... PERFECT!!! + Stephen Fry (take that RIhanna and Lady gaga)
Mine is 17 - Hironocrashka
Fantastic!
Really excitied about getting this for christmas! Sounds great so far sheis like no one else.
3 people can't think of 50 words for snow.
Stephen Fry and his silky voice... ♥
Hi
@Cloudbustin I know I shouldn't care if Kate appears or not because I am just totally in love with her music... but... I can't help it... if she's in it I will probably wet myself. No shame.
Really...
Kate Bush - timeless, endless...
Eat that Lady GaGa, you don't get STEPHEN FRY narrating your adverts!
@glorendil as stephen fry pointed out in one episode of QI, the word "inuit" refers to a certain people in a certain place. there are 2 "types" of eskimo: inuit and yupik. calling everyone who lives in snowy regions "inuit" is like calling all white people british. the eskimoes themselves aren't insulted by the word. it's just one of those "political correctness" rules, probably made up by straight white rich men who like to tell other people what they should be offended at. :-)
I was spellbound by this and then Tweedledee and Tweedledum showed up and the spell was broken.
drifts.......
Am i the only one who finds this creepy?
Everything Kate makes has a slight creepiness to it. Even her debut single was sang from the perspective of a ghost lol
@creeuk Yes, for the most part I agree with you, and I really didn't want to...
wow!
For the first time ever I was nervous about buying Kate's latest. I thought; oh no, is this it, has she finally made a lemon? I couldn't have been more wrong. It's one of her best. Enjoy.
I've listened to Kate Bush through my youth and now into middle age. This album is unusual. At first listen, some of the tracks might sound even a bit silly or frivolous. Give it time, and the magical undertones emerge.
The album is brilliant. It's not an easy listen (Wild Man is by far the closest thing to mainstream here) but it is brilliant.
@SuperSean1970 You are right, since Britain got annexed by Cowell, all originality disappeared
I see the WILD MAN oh and Misty!!!
so british, so good! brilliant ad
@glorendil "...come on it's just you and me Inuit..."...just doesn't sound right.
auuu EDITEN EL CD EN ARGENTINA !!!!
Thats realy scary......
@legiteblogger or "Kate Bush is the Shakespeare of popular music" ?
By-the-way, have never seent his ad on the box - who has?...
I like it !!!!
Looking good! X
@madJedi1 Oh oh! Someone needs a medication refill.
