In this case they likely wouldn't fine at all. What they did was stupid, yes. But they did not put lives at risk or cause damage to railway property. Most of the time you'll just be asked to get off the tracks, but that's not to say I condone this stupid behaviour.

Barmouth is a quiet station with slow moving trains, unlike in Bedfordshire with big express trains to and from London Kings Cross.

The purple light on the camera is how infrared looks to your camera. Your eyes can't see it but most cameras can
If you are already on the crossing when the alarm starts, you can keep going.

the light is because the camera will have no ir filter so even more sensitive than your camera/phone can see it so it can see in the dark.
