Just a simple Canteen Cup Tuesday lunch while I test out a “new to me” kayak.
I find an island and quickly make myself a “tarp shelter” to protect me from the 150 degree South Carolina sunshine😂

I almost didn’t even see the bottom half of that kayak. The bottom almost was invisible to my eyes. Nice private beach was nice. This video had a Robinson Crusoe vibe. Thanks for leaving your pants on in that heat.

We got a bit cooler here this week, even down in the high 50s a few nights. Was a nice and welcome change. We hit the river Saturday and I got a few little stripers but nothing really to speak of. Glad to see ya getting the time to get out there a little more regularly. Hope you and yours doing well. TC and ATB, Cris.
Oh man, Carolina Gritty Ramen with Sausage. What a treat in the heat.
Amazingly enough, it was “gritless” and tasted amazing! I need to find more of those sausages. I think they’d go well with eggs, and real grits (not sand) for breakfast 👍🏻

@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors the Pelicans are a little better kayak than what I had back then. I had the Sun Dolphin Aruba 10(actually still have it for a loaner).

Cut those sausages lengthwise then slice them. They won’t roll away from you that way. It hurts my heart to see potted meat lost. 😂🤣🤣

Good sausage slicing tip! Live ‘n Learn! HA! I’ll remember that next time. It hurt me to waste good “meat”, but at least I didn’t spill any beer! 😂 No doubt it hit 200 down there. It’s always 10 degrees hotter there than here.

Man I would’ve burnt up out there! We went to the river last weekend and I drug my cooler to the edge of the river so I could get a beer without having to get out the water it was so hot lol
That would seem weird to most people but I’ve done the exact same thing....... never have to get out of the water for beer “intake”, or “output”..... just stay in the water and chill! 😂🤣😂

Hey Chris, cool to see our provincial flag on your new kayak. I like that you always show and use the things people send you. My daughter and I have the same kayak as that one and they are great little pond kayaks. Extremely lightweight. I know they sit very low in the water and are really fun to get into at our age. 😉 Wow 150 degrees there again. I bet that little shelter helped quite a bit after a dip in the pond and some rehydration beverage. I guess your lunch was ramen, sausage and grit 🤣 I still have to make a lid for my "Cheezehead" canteen cup that he sent me I will check out that lid video again. I burned a hole in my "Alpha Towel" using it to pick up a cook pot from a canister stove, sure beats burning a hand. Thanks for taking us along for the adventure........Take care, Mike.
Hi Mike... thanks for watching... soon it will only be 125 , and much more tolerable. Man, after toting canoes around forever I couldn’t believe how light this kayak was. It’s great for day trips, and maybe even an overnighter. I’ll need a “trailer” for it though to carry my beverages!🤣😂🤣
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors Light indeed. I sold my canoe two years ago. I don't miss carrying that around. It weighed about 90 pounds. I like the lightweight kayaks. My Pelican's are 36 pounds and my North Shore sea kayak is 48 pounds. You should get one of those kid sized sit on kayaks that are about 5 feet long for a gear and beverage trailer........Take care, Mike.

i don t know how you take the heat Chris I would be sitting quietly in the shade good looking yak i love fishing with mine but there a pain if its windy they do not anchor well
Yep... I anticipated fishing from it would be different. I only brought one rod, to kinda test it out. I’ll be able to catch fish, but I need to add some modifications for a stringer, and a better beer holder. Hey, I thought about you today ... instead of my favorite, I got some Ezra.... @@CarolinaChrisOutdoors sure ya can! After all, it is just a funky pasta. Skip the seasoning. Add some cheese. Ramen mac & cheese! Though, parm is good too. Find yourself a container of Laughing Cow cheese. Usually in fancy cheese section in Walmart. It's shelf stable, no refrigeration needed, though you should store in a fridge. But anyways, chop it up a bit, save a bit of the Ramen water, maybe a bit of olive oil if ya have some, garlic and other spices and a pouch or can of chicken and you're all set!👍🏻🧀

Too hot for this northern boy. 90° and humid is plenty hot enough. Those fish don't know they have been seen all around the world.
I would have a long tall bike flag for folk to see. Worst nightmare is boat running over me. Another is snakes in water.

Any gators where you boat? A guy around Houston was kayaking the bayou and got snatched out by a big gstor.
There are always rumors of gators being in these lakes... I’ve not seen one. It wouldn’t surprise me if I did see one though. There are plenty of them in the lower parts of South Carolina

I carry too much gear for a kayak lol I would rather have a canoe.
