    This is the proper way to apply a wrap. Thanks for figuring out how to do it and explaining things clearly.

    I understand how to skin the front and back but how about the sides of the guitar? Do you apply a strip of vinal around the sides and then overlap with the front and back sheets?

    GREAT ADVICE. Was going to do my white Les Paul as a novice / virgin to wrapping a guitar and came across this video. Will feel more confident after seeing this Vid. Not to mention the knifeless tape !! What an invention by 3M. Hope they sell in UK . Really helpful video otherwise sure to have ballsed it up. Thanks again Mr Inzane 🤟

      @@inzaneskins Hi Mr Inzane. Calling from UK. Followed your vid a bit at a time over past weeks after eventually locating some knifeless tape in UK. It maybe a bit too late now but how do you get the 4 FEMALE pegs OUT which are inserted in to body to hold the male pegs for the tune o matic bridge pieces. I had to put the wrap over them as I couldn't find a way to remove. Then cut around the perimeter of the pegs. NOT ideal, as needed to make a few incisions to lay the wrap flat, maybe for future reference please advise. Not a perfect job as my first time but maybe re-do or learn for next time. Your advice appreciated.🤠

    Great install!! getting ready to skin my Schecter! It's all white just want some color! I think this is a great alternative to airbrushing because you can remove the skins with no damage!! And airbrushing this guitar would never look as good as it does with the skin!

    How happy are you with the edge left by the knifeless tape long term? I've been sitting on a gold top wrap project for a while now, trying to decide whether to roll over the edge, or use knifeless tape to expose the stock binding.

    • @inzaneskins
      @inzaneskins  2 роки тому +2

      I do roll over the edge on some guitars, but I typically clear coat over the skins and get rid of the ridge. When NOT clear coating, I like the cut to be about an 1/8' inside of the edge (using knifeless tape). This creates a faux binding and seems to frame the skin nicely.

      @@inzaneskins That's the answer I was looking for - I ordered knifeless tape when I ordered the gold vinyl, just been putting it off.... 1st time wrapping anything.

    thanks,my question on guitars like SG style with rounded horns does the skins bunch up or easy to do going around the bends have you done an sg style...i think these are great, I wasnt going to buy a new guitar that i liked because i didnt like the stock colors

    • @inzaneskins
      @inzaneskins  2 роки тому

      SG's are tough because of those bevels but I use a hair dryer with a low speed and a warm temperature to press the skin down when necessary. The heat helps to activate the adhesive on the skin to make it stick better. It might still lift a little after using the hair dryer approach, but I do its a few times on the areas that are trickiest and that tends to work well.

    Can we use a spray for windows, before putting the skin, for easier removing the bubbles?

    • @inzaneskins
      @inzaneskins  2 роки тому

      I don't recommend this and the reason is, with the cavities in the body, the skin will shift and start to fall into those cavities, leaving you with less than desirable results.

    I can't get the knifeless tape to cut through the vinyl wrap without causing ripples and tearing the vinyl, I have precut the vinyl on a test piece to start the cut and tried pulling slow and fast and it has the same result, the green vinyl tape included with the kit seems flimsy so I'm going to try some red knifeless tape in hopes it will cut better.

    Ive recently considered doing this to my new Harley Benton. Its the Les Paul single cut body shape like your guitar but im honestly frightened id fxxk it up and end up angry. Right now my guitar is a matte black with gold hardware but im changing all the hardware to black for the black metal look. This looks extremely tedious ! Id rather much pay some one to do it then effing it up on my own..

    Can I spray nitrocellulose over vinyl skins?

    • @inzaneskins
      @inzaneskins  2 роки тому

      I don't recommend nitrocellulose for a couple of reasons: 1. nitrocellulose takes quite a while to cure and harden but the finish will always remain somewhat soft. 2. Nitro eventually cracks and yellows, so that's not ideal. I prefer using a 2-stage urethane clear. It dries fast and is hard enough to sand after a couple of days, and it doesn't yellow.

    • @inzaneskins

      @@williamdesilva67 - the majority of our customers either want to make their main guitar look better, or they have a design they absolutely love and they buy a guitar just to have that design on a guitar. I painted/airbrushed guitars for decades and this is a cost-effective solution to paying $2000 for a custom airbrush paint job. I'll say it again - it's not for everyone, I get that - but for many who still love the 80s, this satisfies their desire to have a HOT RODDED guitar.
