    Cool to see how just a few changes on the existing details ... a little refining here and there ... makes a big difference. And there are even details I didn't expect but you can see it after highlighting it like you've done with the dashboard.
    Comparison to current models of Bburago is difficult - overall the production evolved everywhere about the details. Also Bburago from Italy closed their door in 2007 forever. Since then it's just only a brand of MC-Toys who also owns the brand Maisto. I had the Ferrari 348 tb model from Maisto and still have the 348 ts model from Bburago Italy. I assume that Bburago in Italy had to destroy the old castings when they lost their license. So back 5 years ago when there was a new Bburago model of the 348 ts then it was of course the Maisto model - but surprisingly they even did an upgrade about the interior and including seatbelts. But the other details such as the headlamps were still like Maisto made it in the 90s ... I sold my old Maisto version as I like the old Bburago more. These old models are really cool. I am not having a steady hand to do all the details you did :-D But I love those old models anyway. I keep in mind these models are older and for the time actually great looking - even though these are for sure no competition to AUTOart or Minichamps around 20 years ago. But well, thinking about what you are paying for the old Bburago models now so you're getting something great for the value.

      yup. In Europe you can still find old bburagos all the time for cheap, but the problem is most of them are sold in an old condition, dusty, dirty, interior yellowed out or paint faded etc. But if you just keep checking back every now and then, you can come across one in near-mint condition, and then you can get that and turn it into a project car.
      I am thinking about doing that to a Ferrari F40 next. Bburago did a re-release of the F40 a year or two ago, but it was a limited release that sold out quickly. And the price they were asking for the repaint was something like 80 EUR which was too much, as it was even more than signature retail price.

      I don't think your assumption is correct since Hot wheels elite reused many Bburago and Maisto molds for their models.

    • @BFDdrives
      @BFDdrives Рік тому

      @@traviswalker8933 What Bburago molds of Ferrari models were used for Hot Wheels Elite?
      For sure I can say that the current production of MC-Toys (Maisto/Bburago) for the Ferrari F50 as well as the Ferrari 348 tb aren't the old Bburago molds (aside the fact that Bburago didn't have the berlinetta of the 348 but the spider). These are old Maisto molds - MC Toys produced them since the 90s under their Maisto brand.
      I am knowing that Mattel used molds from UT Models for the Ferrari F355. But they changed the mold later when they introduced their basic and elite line.

      @@BFDdrives the 288 GTO mold is an old Bburago mold. Same goes for the 456GT.

    • @BFDdrives
      @BFDdrives Рік тому

      @@traviswalker8933 I was just checking the models. I can't find any 456 GT model on ebay from Hot Wheels in 1/18. It seems they only made one in 1/43. Either it is super rare or you've the wrong Ferrari model in mind.
      About the 288 GTO I was checking the details of the Bburago with the regular Hot Wheels and the Hot Wheels Elite. But I disagree that it is the same mold. The Elite has a way different frame around the windshield. Missing fuel cap, holes for door handle and side indicator. And the roof line is completely different. The regular Hot Wheels model is overall looking more like the Bburago model but it is also not as same - different roof line, a sticker as fuel cap. If Mattel used the Bburago mold then they've modified it in details. The roof line of the Bburago model has been terrible - you don't find it like this at the Hot Wheels variations.

    Again great video! As for the superglue issue you can also remove some of it using something like goo gone or isopropyl alcohol. I also recommend shaving the first 2~3 minutes of the video. Overall great video and a good job!

      i am getting the feeling prices are going up on these old bburagos. which is weird because for 25+ years they were affordable. so if you find one in near mint condition for a low price, definitely go for it.

    Great video and suggestions for modifications!
    I have the Bburago 1:18 in red, but the version with racing decals on the outside. I've never liked the stickers, this video makes me want to (finally) remove the stickers and add the black detailing to the exterior.
    Have you ever tried to remove factory decals from metal-on-paint? I'm afraid it'll either lift the paint or mar the surface, even if I use a hairdryer to heat up the adhesive first.

    Looks awesome! Want to try the same. Did you put a clear coat on it after painting the parts?

    • @ImperialDiecast
      @ImperialDiecast  Рік тому +1

      no, but its definitely a good idea to do so as the paint will otherwise rub off. clear coats tend to make the black shiny though, so if you prefer it to be matte black you might want to look for a matte clearcoat paint.

    Great video.. i have ordered a pre owned 1/24 scale of this one made by Bburago as well.. can you tell me how much and what are the differences between the two as I’m planning to do a similar kind of detailing

    • @ImperialDiecast
      @ImperialDiecast  3 роки тому

      i did check the 1/24 version as well while working on this 1/18, and honestly I think the 1/24 is remarkably similar in terms of detail as the 1/18. It is also fully opening, even the front trunk incl spare wheel, but the tail lights are a bit simpler looking. Everything else should be the same though in terms of detail, so you can easily repaint it the same way I did the 1/18.

    I've got four Bburago's 288 GTO, they are, two rally edition, a black one and a red one, the red one I don't know why, the paint just got like suede finish, it's coarse, I'm thinking in repaint it, because I polished the paint but It got coarse again. And I was thinking in repaint it but make it more detailed, just as you did. Now, if I'm gonna repaint the model, I can paint it in another color, like Giallo Modena, wich is yellow. The only thing is to repaint the awful separate plastic roof, wich joint it's impossible to get rid of it, or maybe by using some type of putty, mean, use putty to make the roof and leave it as the real car. Let's see what I can do. Btw, you did an excelent transformation, of course, model has some issues, due to its modest toy/collectable model origin.

    Cnmon guys, look at the paint. That is not up to any quality level demanded by the hype. The planar surfaces should all be perfect which they are not. Stop gushing praise and look closely. There certainly could have been additions to the engine bay and some wires are just too big. Very high quality but not a concours winner.

    • @ImperialDiecast
      @ImperialDiecast  3 роки тому +2

      this model car was manufactured in the late 1980s just like the real car, so the paint is ancient by now and lost most of its original quality. I might apply a coat of wax to bring back some of it though. But yea, newly released model cars have the best looking paint.
