Lyrics:
Rolling deep when the, rivers high
I don't need no women's cries
Scrounging round them, old dark halls
Watch the devil when he's ready to call
We run, we run, oh down south
Never look into those eyes of Satans wealth
We run, we run, oh down south
People playing, with your heart Guns a firin', false start
Chest is heavy, with all your doubt
Children run and they scream they shout and
We run, we run, oh down south
Never look into those eyes of Satans wealth
We run, we run, oh down south
Pockets empty, theres fire in the air
Your heart is lonely, but you don't care
Mindless games drive, you insane
Waiting for the milkman so you can kill you shame and
We run, we run, oh down south
Never look into those eyes of Satans wealth
We run, we run, oh down south
My heart it weeps, anytime you speak
My heart it weeps, every time you creep
My heart it weeps, anytime you speak
My heart it weeps every time you creep
I guess I love Bluegrass now....Didn't know that about myself. Thanks UA-cam.
I'm sitting here thinking the same thing little confused but in a good way.

Southern Gothic. Dark Country. Outlaw Country.... Check it out. ;)
I know im late but bluegrass is great and pretyy underrated doesnt get the praise it should
Well then, new bluegrass lover, check out the old masters like The Stanley Brothers (Rank Stranger), and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs (You Are My Flower) just to name a few.
The cello makes it 6000x better
Yes, yes it does.
Indeed
Makes my Sony speakers work for their money lol
Absolutely true.
I agree that it makes it better
I'm a rocker. Don't like country, don't like bluegrass. I love these guys.
If you're a rocker you gotta respect a good banjo.
LoVe them 2222
If it ain't got guitar that sounds like a chain saw don't have much interest. Nonetheless good is good. Badasses all of em

Typically not my kind of music but, I LOVE this band! Found them by accident on UA-cam. I like the album cover art. I wonder if it's a little tribute to the symbols on Led Zeppelin IIII.
New fan here been obsessed since first time I heard this
You guys are so good. Just a reminder. It's funny I've randomly encountered friends I haven't talked to in years and they recently discovered you as well and can't get enough. And then I'm LIKE OMG YES I listen to Gunslingers Glory 4x a day. etc.
I was probably very late finding these guys on UA-cam but so feckin glad I did. Made learning the banjo a lot more fun with Carlton Crawford's tutorials too. Can't get enough of them now👏🤘
This was the best climax I've had in years my ears are still oozing thank you dead south
i came over listening Good Company and it Just surprised me they are great and now listening them with my evergreen songs and believe it or not but my 2-year-old nephew loves them, In Hell I'll Be In Good Company is his favourite along with Gunslinger's Glory which he dances and hums along but when it's time to sleep he asks me for Broken Cowboy and as if by magic he lets himself be carried away in sleep. I hope in May 2019 to bring him to the concert in Milan
These songs always gets me on the verge of tears. 😢
I wish there were more bands that took this path. I had a friend recommend you guys and I have been intrigued since that time. Are you guys planning on another album? I really hope so, you guys seem creative and realistic!
Guys...this is the best song ever...
BUT...
you need to market better. I worked so hard to find this song. Saw it in concert with no idea what the title might be. 30 minutes later I found it and I research for a living.
The title is beautiful...
but I won't ever remember it.
It will be in my head as "We run, We Run". And damn this song, like most of this group's, gives me earworm!
I was just in the situation of trying to find this... I found it by literally putting 'the dead south run' into google, it took about 1 minute...
Dude, you have to realise how much this band have won fame these last month, i've discover them like a year ago, back then the only music with more than a million views was "in hell i'll be in good company" (it was like 1.5M views)
I used to listen to them when they only had a few thousand views, now they're in the tens of millions
@@vladbelmon9146 that music video has 121M views now... hahaha
How hard can it be to look on their youtube channel to find it really, you need a job you're good at doing.
I'm totally in love with this music :3 thanks for that...
You guys are amazing !!! Your music is a diapason for my heart, the sparkle that switch on the biggest fire ever. Thank you so much for every single song of yours. I'm longing to hear you play in France !!!
By looking at the album cover, which is kinda set-up, to point out figuratively, the band members. The 3rd. one over is a old steerhead. Let me guess, that's for the OLD 'HEAD'😉!!!
who in their right mind would dislike this gem!?!?!
those that don't are obviously not in their right minds, S B...
People who are dead inside...
Cicli
youtube auto dislikes every vid. it's stupid.
Someome with a very bad taste maybe would dislike.
This song pairs great, with a pale ale, and some great value cheese and garlic croutons.
My heart weeps everytime you creep....
Fantastic show..totally sold out as expected...thanks everyone from the band to the fans, all in a a pumped good mood throughout the whole show!!
These guys don’t have a single bad song what so ever
I got my whole family obsessed with this band.
Good Job
@@Schneter thanks my man!
Love that banjo, and it’s impressive they make such amazing songs without a fiddle
its a year later but i love it just as much
thanks for this beautifull music
im from down south of holland europ
You ought to add lyrics to the description. Damn fine music and thank you for it.
Damn, this is the first time I've listened to these guys on acid. Holy shit. What a ride. Shivers down my spine. Got damn.
see when am stoned... man! up full and sing along
Beautifulllllll music
Started listening to these guys a little awhile ago and the more I heard them the more I like keep it up guys
Can you imagine only .0003% of the worlds population has heard this song. Sucks to be the majority sometimes.
In a world where we all share everything including all our personal info and data it's refreshing sometimes to know of something that others don't know about.
They ain't from the south. But they sure can copy the sound well enough for me to ignore the lack of true southern soul in their music.
They're from Regina which is southern for Canada. That's just geographically speaking, though, but trust me when I say there's plenty of soul to be found in those northern prairies.
This is Canadian Music!!....be proud of the efforts of these boys and Eliza Mary Doyle! Keep it up everyone!
You guys need to get in Contact with Ubisoft and get your music in Far Cry 5!
This song would've been a fantastic trailer song.
Red Dead Redemption 3!
You guys are best discover in my life...
The music is very different, but your spirit reminds me of the Violent Femmes back in the early 80s. That's a good thing... Definitely my favorite "new band," even if you did appropriate Southern culture. But it's OK, we Southern folk expect everyone to want to emulate us.
Please please PLEASE someone explain to me how after listening to 1 song this band became my FAVORITE band out of all the bands that have been my favorite...I'm a metal head pretty much just metal and hard-core and symphonic metal...some classic rock and Hank Williams SENIOR...and the dead south knock the teeth down the throats of every other band that has ever music-ed...hehehe...chevelle was my favorite band but dudeeeee I can't stop listening...
Been loving you guys - appreciate your quarantine song of this little light of mine as well!
One of my top favorites ❣️
Holy....Shit.
Best accident finding this band!
Exactly
Amazing song and band ! Terrific at 4:07 and after.
Amazing song and amazing final! Love this song!!!
Shredded it like cheese at the end
Incredible final!
First saw your video last month been hooked ever since.. fantastic sound
muy bueno.
Too bad they've already made "The Dark Tower" because some of their non-novelty songs like this and "In Hell I'll Be In Good Company" would have been great choices on the soundtrack.
Could work for the series they're working on, loosely based off Wizard and Glass? But how about the The Stand remake? Or the Talisman movie (or are they going series? )
Екстра!
I bin dj tekno 34 year, but this my favourite band so good live, play em every day
A hidden gem I just found!!! I founded and run thr Facebook Blues Society & been sharing ur music on the site! Good shit!!!
I don't even like bluegrass - I'm into heavy metal - but this song is great.
Metal country.
Wish this was 10 mins.
Not bluegrass it's newgrass
outstanding, boys! if you need another big bearded Texan to play guitar, just give me a holler. I'll be around.
yeah, i think thats how it goes!
Thank you for proving my point about Texans. I couldn't have said it any better.
I always wanted to be smacked by Poindexter from "Revenge of the Nerds"! They do have braces for those Texan inbred buck teeth you know? Maybe Obamacare would pay for that?
Eric Palmer I am not from Texas... I just think that because you are a salty democrat liberal that you should not single an entire state out and generalize its people. Thank you for going straight to insulting my appearance when you don't even know what I look like. It really demolished my argument, the fact that I "need" braces just completely proves the point that you are a jackass. Did you even read what I said?
Funny how liberals talk a big game about tolerance but never exemplify the meaning of the word. Take Eric Palmer for example. Look at the shit he's throwing on the wall. You're about as subtle as a cockroach crawling across a white rug. Thank you for proving my point about liberals.
Forest and you wanna talk about intolerance? What about contradictory? You seem to forget the fact you told them to go kill themselves over a UA-cam comment. Intolerance comes in the form of hypocrisy and blatant disregard for the interests of others. You sir, take the cake.
i never heard of them; i found them by accedent n youtube but they are great they are one of my favourites now
Damn i needed this outlaw music for my soul.... burnin right now!!!
Never thaught I will hear this kind of music in the age of 25....
My kind of music and I am from Manitoba Canada -40 today
!!!!Give us some lyric videos!!!!!
English do not work for me anymore different mantle I discovered
Hell yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The antidote to Mumford and Sons!
You guys just fantastic. Blew me away
I don't generally like this type of music. These guys are THAT good. I love it. Not one bad song, either.
I love by a river. I'm up from it, but I saw the edge across the street, halfway up the driveway when I was a kid. It rained for days and days, and we were flooded in. For a week.
Some times people who drink might agree to anything feel bad the day after but you make your bed sleep in it don't cry wolf nobody is that innocent grow up don't shut the barn after the horse has got away
FUCKING AWESOME
please come to vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola if y'all do I'll make sure that my friends fill the place up we are all River Folk from way down in Florida and this is all we listen to
I'm officially addicted to this music.
Right!!
Great stuff!
Awesome as always
I LOVE THIS SONG
Awesome
Was their music used a few times throughout the first season of Tin Star? Was trying to figure out where I have heard some of these songs before. Tin Star seems the most logical answer
godddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
bravi
This brings out a raging energy in me. Djeez you're good.
Anyone know more of these bands that don't sound poppy or country?
You were in town on my birthday. My heart still weeps that I didn't see you :(
@ Shanajapapaya
Might recommend Blues Saraceno for a dark country mixed with rock/metal (Starting songs: The River; Evil Ways ). Also, Barns Courtney, an up and comer with some nice rockabilly/blues/rock sounds (Starting songs: Fire; Glitter and Gold; Hellfire).
Neither is a direct duplicate of this style of music (+/-Bluegrass), but if you like The Dead South, especially this song, Deep When the River's High, those other two bands I referenced, may have a few songs that you would enjoy.
Thanks a lot! Those are good references, although Barns Courtney sounds a bit too poppy to my liking. It's a thin line :)
As I do like the stoner genre too, Blues Saraceno is taking me to some good places. Aah youtube's autosuggestions
"The Recap" is a great song. It's also fairly unusual. It uses three separate, highly different tempos. The intro and coda are very slow and plodding. Closest to the intro and coda I can think of is probably Chris Issak's "Blue Spanish Sky". However, I strongly suspect this will be too slow and mainstream for the tastes you've demonstrated so far, as the song never leaves the largo tempo. But just putting it out there, as it has a nice horn solo at the end. Great for turning down the lights, glass of scotch in one hand, and relaxing after a hard day's work.
Much more likely to meet with your enjoyment and closer to the genre of The Dead South is a group called Trampled By Turtles. They are a bluegrass/rock group. Their song "Codine" has lyrics that are approximately the same rhythm as the chorus in "The Recap." Somewhat of an Andante tempo overlaid on an Allegro tempo.
Another group you might want to try is a Bluegrass/punk group, Highlonesome. Their songs "Sinners Soul" and "Hellbent" may be to your liking.
For something that is close to the verses in "The Recap," you may wish to try a group called the Pine Box Boys; a bluegrass/country/horror/goth group with a song called "More Pride Than Priors" you may like. It has the same fighting antics and the upbeat tempo as in the verses of "The Recap". Pretty bizarre group though, kinda Alice Cooperish/Marilyn Manson style with banjos/acoustic guitar/etc. The also have a unique song with Mongolian throat singing called "Will You Remember Me?" Not really related to anything, but it's an interesting listen since you will be in the neighborhood if you look up the Pine Box Boys.
If you enjoy the thrashed throat vocals of The Dead South's, Nate Hills, and since you seemed to enjoy the metal sounds of Blue Saraceno, you may want to look up an old 1970s group, Nazareth. Completely different genre, but Dan McCafferty is the king of thrash vocals. I'd move away from their "hits" and look at lesser known titles, like "Please Don't Judas Me" and "No Mean City".
"Please Don't Judas Me" starts very slowly, but increases in volume and slightly in tempo throughout the song, ending in a swirling, chaos of melodies. Unfortunately, the lyrics are quite repetitive for the last half of the song. Really just pointing this one out, because I personally think it's a fantastic song. (Your opinion may vary)
"No Mean City" (the title track for the album of the same name) has several tempo variations throughout and does use a banjo in parts, which can be faintly heard in the background. Probably, too mainstream as well though. But, hey! Worth a shot, eh?
You should be able to pick up others of similar genres through UA-cam suggestions once you have polluted your search engine with my humble suggestions.
Regards,
M
These are all great references. Chris Isaak is something totally different, I've loved his hits (I love classic rock!) but never gave his other stuff a try. All of the other stuff you mention here is very much up my alley and exactly what I'm looking for in the Dead South. The tempo's, the harmony's, the violins and pluckin contrabasses..... I've found it very hard to find "this particular type" of bluegrass. If I just google "best bluegrass artists" it comes up with not so great country stuff that is really not what I'm looking for, so I'm forever grateful.
The Nazareth reference, I know Narazeth of course, but not like this. Please don't Judas me is great for my "psychedelic rock" collection. I feel like the online definition doesn't match the definition I have of it in my mind. Songs like The Bees "Winter Rose",The Doors "The End" or The Box Tops "Keep me Hanging on" and Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan" are hard to find and definitely do not match youtube's idea of "Psychedelic rock"....
You, my man, have changed the color of the months to come for me! You've probably sensed and estimated my taste better than anyone ever before (or at least the part of it that I want to cultivate but have a hard time to). God I need more people with musical taste in my life. You wouldn't happen to live in Berlin by any chance :p
Thank you. So much, Michael.
Edit -I just embarked upon the 6 minute mark in Please Don't Judas me. Oooooh it's like falling in love. Makes me think of King Crimson. Waauw. That repetitivenes does not bother me at all with those amazing drums at their perfect tempo. Thanks again. You made my day
Love it
