Dear all!! - if you're looking for a good computer to run Inventor, you may then be interested to know that I have now developed and released the worlds most comprehensive FREE benchmarking test for Autodesk Inventor with a global online leaderboard. See the announcement video here ua-cam.com/video/Xck3lvuMRjM/v-deo.html and check out the leaderboard here invmark.cadac.com/#/ - all designed by me, Neil Cross TFI.
I like the applause at the end 😅
autodesk should pay you for these intresting and not boring tutotrials
holy crap I didnt even know how to use the features not to mention they arent every intuitive, this dude laid everything out perfectly to understand, tyvm
He makes them seem more intuitive than Autodesk made them out to be. 😅
Another video that offers a good mix of educational content as well as humour. Kudos.
TFI, Thanks a lot for showing Bolted Connections in such a detailed level! You make the best tutorials for Autodesk Inventor and you certainly have earned the title Autodesk Expert Elite! Tutorials like this saves both me and maaany others alot of time and pain! (sort of..frustration at least) ! I guess you have been in that situation and done a ton of trial and error, hence you are the expert.. but still that's the best way to learn and remember ;) I am a Senior Piping Engineer working on modifying and improving existing oil rigs in Norway. I have been using Bentley Microstation and PDMS almost every day for over 10 years. Client and the company I'm working for choose this as a standard. I know as a fact that a Bentley user like me, have more difficulties converting over to Autodesk, because its somewhat another way of thinking when modeling. I'm currently learning how to design in Autodesk Inventor privately, and the only question I have regarding this tutorial, even doe I guess you might have covered that or will cover that in a tutorial for Partlists and BOM view.. or maybe its so obvious that I have not discovered it yet... Regarding Bolts, Washers and Nuts in the partlist.. Is there a way to compress them into one item number in the partlist like in example text "M12 Bolt x 115 mm lg (material bla bla, C/W (Comes With) Washers and Nuts)"? So various sizes and length of bolts does not clutter or dominate the partlist when you have designed/assembled a complex component? Anyways, again.. Many thanks for the tutorials you have made and making, they really helps!
Best Regards Alfie.
My company recently decided we would do 3D for our GA drawings. Me, being the senior of our team and none of us having 3D experience was chosen to be the lab rat. I am learning from the start and I find your videos very informative, extremely helpful, and quick to the point. I had a manager that was English but recently returned to Australia where he actually lives. He was very smart but also very (TOO) thorough in explaining things. You could never get a YES/NO answer from him until he completed his 16-minute preamble on the basis of your question. You on the other hand get the point across in like 16 seconds. One thing I will comment on his some of your background music makes me wanna throw a weenie down a hallway. I can bear it though since you make the rest enjoyable. Thanks a shit-ton.
I've never once looked at bolted connections but I see a use for this quite a bit. Thanks for the video!
Perfect, thanks for adding in the extra explanations at the end, helps clarify what you have achieved.
You do the best CAD Videos on UA-cam!!! Thanks for your help!
Your videos may appear long but they're actually short for what you're really putting across. The comedy keeps the videos entertaining and I could watch them for hours!
Watched it again! 'twas good. Remind me how ignorant I was 6 years ago... Thank you.
this video saved my life today for my school project! Thank you Neil!
I learn so much from these tutorials. Thank you .
A great tool and a great explanation as usual. Thank you for your work and keep up!
Great lesson! Simple and straight to the point. Thank you!
These are top notch tutorials - extremely well done mate! 😊
Excellent explanation from a SolidWorks user currently trying Inventor. Thanks for this.
Awesome content! Old video but great stuff! In the first 15 secs. you sounded a lot like the way Clickspring talks lol. Enjoyed every minute of it, hope you continue to do great tutorials/lessons like this. They are VERY valuable to people like me. Thanks a TON! - Jacob S.
What a great video. You did just blow it out. You place the video like fun. thanks a lot really.
Sir, Thank you so much for the lovely and easy explanation ! and comparing this to the time and effort to add a bolted connection on Fusion 360 ! oh lord ! Inventor is way smarter ! and faster ! I am glad i am a member of this channel :)
Fell asleep watching this and dreamt that I was playing Elder Scrolls. Great music :)
Fantastic, as always
Your videos are Excellents.. My congratulation!! I'm from venezuela , this explanation was the best..
Excellent!
Excellent video and fine explanation!
Thanks very much.
Needed a review, not boring, kept my attention
Best entertaining and useful videos ever
Super tutorials with bolted connections. Thank you :)
Great video. I appreciate the thoroughness.
Good and Direct training lesson. Thank you Friend.
Very good!
Very Good! Congratulations. And thanks a lot.
good job!! i'm learning a lot from you
Thank you sir for your vivid explanation. You have got a new follower. :)
Very Good training lesson.
amazing tutorial! thanks!!
Awesome !!!
Thanks
Awesome job! Yeah Inventor seems to make things difficult
Excellent explaiination
Youre the best!!!!!! What setting in the lighting did you use in this tutorial?
Yup What lightning & environment and display settings are these?
so absolutely amazing, as usual.
i dunno, i might be your biggest fan!
amazing thank you! please more real world application stuff like this
I love your videos. I am a high school teacher teaching Inventor and Revit. Thanks for making them interesting and so I don't fall asleep.
I have a question. I'm a solidworks convert and I want to have my students create a vise...easy enough right. I haven't been able to find a good way to show them how to make the vise move by rotating the screw. Do you have anything for that?
+Daniel Seman Thanks! I've got nothing for that on the channel, but it should be possible, I'll have a think and see if it can be made into a tutorial as it's quite a generic thing that could be used by a lot of folk.
+TFI CAD Tips Fantastic. Thanks mate
it is really good, thank you
Thanks.
So comprehensive.
I thank you for the video. I'm sure this can be done. I'll find out tomorrow when I play with this but an 8.4mm hole would be oversize for our use. Hopefully there is a way to make these defaults tighter. i.e 8mm, 8.05mm, and 8.1mm for 8mm fixings. Then new clearances for ≥16mm and new again for ≥50mm etc..
Great Video! I know this video is a few years old now, but I have encountered a problem and I have no idea where to turn. On the dialog at 11:39, I am only able to select 5 mm. There are no other options with other standards and the drop down arrow is faded out indicating there are none. What do I do? I have already reinstalled, and this has not been an issue in the past when I have used this accelerator. Thanks for any help!
Thanks for the Tutorial!
This was incredibly helpful thank you very much
Cory Smith And likewise your gratitude is also incredibly helpful! :-) Thank you.
HI TFI! Is there any way to do a bolted connection with carriage bolts(round head square neck)? Looking for the operation to be able to cut square hole on start plane and round holes through rest of materials and termination plane. Is this possible?
very informative...what does the orange warning sign on some bolted connections mean
great video, im new to your channel and hoping i can find a lot of useful information, thanks a lot.
Thanks - great job.
love this tutorial. amazing
Fantastic videos for the student well done. Can you produce a video to show how to animate an energy chain please
Thanks, Great Videos. Can you tell me if the holes were created in the actual parts or only in the assembly
Good job. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the video! :)
Thank you very much, was very Informative
wow, well explained. Thank you sir. It really was helpfull.
Thank you Sir! Very Informative.
good lesson
Are you from the northeast, excellent videos cheers
I start using this feature and it's awesome. It's great when you have to change the size of a bolt.
But Have you ever had an issue where the bolt gets generated but the holes don't. On like a linear one.
Im trying to put a hole through a flat surface then through a round shaft then terminating through a flat surface again.
Great vid keep it up.
Thanks!
Thanks so much! Legend!
Thanks a lot! It was very useful!
Hi there, great vid. Do you know if there is an easy way of positioning multiple bolted connections?
A quick tip: disable all the random inch sized fasteners you don't need from the library so you don't have to wait 10 seconds for the menu to open up to pick which screw to use.
Is it possible to add bolts/washers between holes?
Great Video!
Well, this is cool! but... now i have to do 120 bolts. The template is easy, but is there an multi insert tool ?
Amazing video. By the way is it possible to have a spacer in bw the and bolt ? Like I need to attach a stepper motor to a bracket and I need it to be offset by 2 cm or so and I want to use a spacer. Is there a way to achieve this without having to design spacers myself?
Great Video, however, when I tried to practice this feature on two simple solids using a socket head cap screw, Inventor 2015 wouldn't create a desired counter-bore in the first face. Did I miss something or is this not possible? I didn't try a flathead but I'll assume it behaves the same way.
did you say "que?" in Spanish? LOL !! Great Video! subscribed!!
Very good. Thanks so much. For next one, can you please turn off TV before you start recording.
I love the music! :)
Do you know how to make it bolt to the inside edge of a channel? Usually they’re slopped 1:12 and inventor will not let you select this face for terminating the bolt.
Sorry that shouldnt be a time stamp its a ratio of slope as im sure you know. 😅
Love your video the most!. BTW, what's the background music name? so beautiful! Again, Love your video!!
Thanks man! The music in that one was the World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria soundtrack
How do you have two set-ups, one with a hole and one without? As shown at 4:00
The problem with placing bolts and nuts with, with the automation is when you save close and open the file again it can't find the bolts because it is not in the project folder. It's in the content center.
what the hell was a lovely story :)
pff.. i just founf your channel.. your videos ir amazing.. i was updating my news from alot of channels and even fkin spanish.. wich i dont know.. and yours sir.. is da best! recomend you to everyone.
good stuff
Absolutely great tutorial my friend! You sell yourself short B-)
I miss in this function the automatic selection of the size when it came with an assembly for metric with configurations. Who can pressure Autodesk to add this enhancement?
Still up :), good lesson
Great tutorial, Neil! There is also a nice Inventor AddIn for placing bolted connections: ua-cam.com/video/CuIwsWbaw4A/v-deo.html
Thanks for suggestion! Awesome app!!
What has just been shown is interesting for beginners like me.. thanks to him
Is the bolted connection also available for the student version of Inventor?
Good day
Thanks soooo much for the amazing videos! I would like some help with I-beam Plate connections... I created my sketch, inserted my I-beams and the trimed and extended where needed, now I need to do plate connections for the bolts and adding wheels but I'm struggling so bad! Made a sketch on a plain but it won't let me extrude, then I tried using and part import.... but my size and constraint are a mess!!! :(
Ur gd 👍👍👍
At last thank you
Your awesome thx!
Jonathan St-Laurent Oh you! Thanks :)
Hi there, when i put on click to add a fastener it doesn't show me the bolts help me please
Hi! I've been having hard time trying to make a connection using stud bolts. They never appear in the content center while specifying the bolted connection itself(click to add a fastener step), though there are a few in content center after all. Is there a trick to make them appear as possible solutions? Basically I want to connect two plates with a stud bolt+washer+nut. No matter which options or dimensions I choose there's no stud to choose from /cry.
thank you
Bravo
Hey guy, here's 2 questions for you:
1. How do you ARRAY a bolted connection with holes using LINEAR placement?
2. How do you save the bolt iam and ipt's as CUSTOM?
Thanx!
thank u
When trying to do a bolted connection By Hole, and the solids to join aren't continuous (like a square tube), it doesn't allow to do the job. I guess it isn't a common situation.
Anyway, nice video!
Great video thanks for taking the time to explain! Sub'd
Inventor doesn't allow to use that option when you are trying to connect flanges with raised face :(
