Need a chain? Need it to move like a chain? Need it to be realistic? Forgetting gravity and sag this is as close to real chain mechanics as you can get without doing all kinds of unnecessary shenanigans!
A full tutorial including the creation from scratch of the links, sprockets and all constraints required to get the job done. Enjoy! #Tech3D #Autodesk #Inventor #Tutorial #3DCAD #Design #Engineering #CAD

Dear all!! - if you're looking for a good computer to run Inventor, you may then be interested to know that I have now developed and released the worlds most comprehensive FREE benchmarking test for Autodesk Inventor with a global online leaderboard. See the announcement video here ua-cam.com/video/Xck3lvuMRjM/v-deo.html and check out the leaderboard here invmark.cadac.com/#/ - all designed by me, Neil Cross TFI.

OMG love your enthusiasm! xD
Definitely going to watch more of your tutorials!
Many thanks for your wonderful training
I had a lot of problem about making real time chain movement and you solved them.
Thanks again. You're saving me a fortune on Autodesk training!!!
Many thanks for this tutorial!
Super great video makes excited to learn more and get started! Love the "stay organized" motto !!
Thanks so much for making these videos.
Hey I'm watching this at work, everyone keeps turning around to see what these bursts of laughter are all about.

Awesome! thank you so much!
Hey man, love your videos have been watching almost all of them by now. They are truly the best videos/tutorials out there on youtube for inventor. I am just curious as to if you could make a video on how the molding works, and how to make a mold etc. it would be a tremendous help to me :)
Thank you. TNice tutorials is really helpful. Much respect
Thank u so much, interested in starting so soft during quarintine and just need a place to get started, thx for the support
IT'S ALWAYS THE UNDERRATED VID THAT'S LEGIT! THANK YOU!

Thanks for the vid!
Bro! Thanks so much! I got and installed and wNice tutorialle watcNice tutorialng tNice tutorials I'm following your steps, and I really fully understand. So Kool! Thanks
To speed up the assembly of the chains, you can make the first set and then copy paste them together, this will copy the constraints between the inner and outter links as well. Constrain those two set to the first set.. then copy paste the two set of links in on go and connect those, and so on and so forth. Though you will still have to do the transitional contraints to the path for all the inner links. (This feature might not have been in 2016, I can't remember, but it is in 2017 and later)
bro thanks so much. dis video is tiless 3 years ltr n still great
nice tuto bro, that solved!
Thanks a lot for this video :)
Wow there are so amazing stuffs thanks for your presentations. two questions.
1. According to your methods, If we complete to assemble all of roller chains, we need to do manual constraint process at least a hundred of times.
2. If we do rigid constrains for all of roller chains and sprockets in your assembly files. It maybe causes performance problem. In this tutorials, that exists only two sprockets and some of roller chains, but If we use sprocket-chains in the real machines that contains numerous bolts, plates, gears and so on, that will be critically lower your computing performances.
will be a fantastic journey!
Excellent video ...............................Thank You !!!
Thanks, really helped
just saying i love your accent it is AMAZING!!
Living my Inventor dreams through this channel
You are the best :) :)
Hilarious and extremely educative :D
Hi you mention at one point in the video the problem of chain link flips around the wrong way when they are constrained, the problem I have solved by creating a limited angle constrained on the pin between the two link at 40 dg. in both directions
what a hearty video for all beginners!
will get it. Just don't get burnt out. Whenever you need a break, take one.
I've seen that has actually explained it to in a concise way!
I'm so confident, yeah, I'm unstoppable today
So I went into soft soft and tried to intuitively grasp the basic fundantals. And now listening back I feel like I'm one step ahead of Nice tutorialm.
thats great george
Thank you!
great vid
Will stay tuned to your channal! Cheers!
thank you so much
this made my brain tickle ;)
Great demo.Just in case you check back on this, the solution to stop the chains jumping is to use joints instead of constraints on the pins and holes. It seems Autodesk know that constraints are dodgy, and joints seem to be the future.
i would say constraints are for parts that shouldnt move and joints are for any parts that do move
Yeah thank you !
amazing, thanks dear
Neil, May i make a suggestion as to containing the links together? Excellent tutorial as always, your tutorials have been the best to follow and easiest to understand i have learned a lot from you mate.
haha ur good man thank you interesting and funny good job
Thank you sooo mch
Amazing tutorial, love the whole process and explanations. your character is quite amusing as well. I do have a question that has been a pain for a long time and again going through this tutorial working along I had the same issues and another. one if i made the derived surface NOT visible, in inventor studio it still tried rendering that surface. and when I got near the end placing the parts of the chain we modeled in the beginning even though I made the plane not visible and the derived surface of the other link part not visible when I place the parts in the assembly they are always visible again requiring me to make everyone not visable again at the part level. why it doesn't stay invisible when I turn visibility off and save the part?
informative video good sir, Gracias
Great, amazinig, thank so much, but... what do you think of making a tutrial to design a belt transmission with insertion of pulleys and belts?? Regards, bye
Thank you
Still working as of today, ty!
Thanks man, I got the good habit of wanting to learn everytNice tutorialng before I start sotNice tutorialng (wNice tutorialch is impossible) tNice tutorials quick guide is what I
very much your efforts to help us noobs out.
TNice tutorials was excellent man, thank you so much! I'm a 40yr old noob that's always wanted to try making soft and never got around to it. I'm
followed the tutorial exactly right, but still different. Using trial version. Thank you*
thank you so much. tNice tutorials helped a lot
So I have a conveyor chain I'm working on (roller chain like you did, but some links have ears for pusher attachments). I constrained things using the transitional as you did, and it works fine with 1 link but seems to "bind" when going around the sprockets. I do not have contacts, just trying to follow the path. Works fine all the way around the path with 1 link only, but sometimes the link "flips" orientation (it's not symmetrical due to the ears). Any suggestions? One thing I noticed different than yours is that I had to make my surface at the root of the tooth diameter rather than the tip like you did, because for some reason the surface normal on my surface is opposite yours. Thanks in advance.
Even once you understand how to use soft soft, having the ear to make a good soft is a whole different story
Thanks for tNice tutorials amazin tutorial! Such a helpful one
Hi! you are so talent but i recommend you to type the links where you got all information about the design!! and thank you for everything
hey @Tech3D, how can I know how many mm of distance on the rotation/translation tab in relation to the wheel and the chain? You put 688mm, but it didn't work with me. For the rest, thank you very much!
Dude, witNice tutorialn 4 hours of watcNice tutorialng tNice tutorials video, I bought soft soft, and made my first 56-second soft clip. You're an aweso teacher,
? how can we export model with constraint to 3 d max
Nice tutorial. I dont get my chains to follow around the wheel though. Its just following the one 2d plane.
What do I do when the channel rack becos too cluttered? If I can, how do I clear it?
thanks teacher...im hyun..im korean univ student....so interesting...thats so good....good teacher thanks...t.t.t.t
Help with extrusion @ 36:13? With inventor 2020 at this point you do not get the option to extrude as a surface? I spent 1.1/2 hours trying to sort this and researching why but I couldn't solve it. The blue box which was added to replace the old dialogue box in older versions isn't visible at this point?
Thanks.
