Hey beautiful Bailley! My name is Lee, Im a C5-6 Quad using a manual chair in which I earned 2 degrees from a prominent US University, I've been injured 30 years, I'm years old 45 now, live alone in a house I renovated, I work as a licensed therapist with my own practice, you are doing SO well, please know you are doing it 'right', your mind and body will take you far, embrace your youth, protect your shoulders, congratulations on an incredible recovery, live well and be happy!
Awesome advice Lee. I'm in my 20th year as a T6 level injury. You sound like a real go-getter! It does my heart good to see those that persevere and excell to amazing heights with so much acting against them. These are Truly strong people, such as yourself and young Bailley. Take care Lee, God bless you!!!
Bailey, you're an amazingly strong, young woman with a lot of potential. I can see that you'll go far and that you'll achieve everything with the right people and support you've got from others. All the best for your dream of being an occupational therapist and l pray that doors will open for you in this field.
Such an amazing strong women and all the life accomplishments you have made and so much more in her future ! Wow that car lift is fantastic ..all the best Hailey !
See how the news is. This is why I don't video things like This or comment on horrible posts when ppl are commenting they don't think about the family or the person might read it. And how it's horrible for them. Thank you for sharing your story to us.
@ Sue Colloado #1. There was no one there to say anything about the deck capacity. #2. Looking back it would have behooved the Landlord to have a sign directly inside the door with the maximum deck capacity. #3. 20 year olds are known to ignore the rules. #4.There was several decks but only one fell. Was it a structural issue with that deck, did it have previous damage or was that deck more overloaded than the others? Is it possible to know? There are so many questions, no easy answers. But unfortunately, Bailey's logic is incorrect when she asks," If that many people can fit, then shouldn't it be OK?" The answer is, no, because 20 year olds aren't invincible.
So...The doctors didn't tell her what they clearly knew from the first scans??? Bailley, I think it's so cool you're going to be an OT!!!! (In my line of work I meet a lot of them.) Your unique perspective and passion for accessible and compassionate treatment is going to be such a blessing for any clients you work with.
Yeahhhhh! OTs for the win! Would like to see an update. Have you finished your studies? Which area of OT are you most interested in? All the best Bailley!
Be strong young Bailley! Your Spirit is so beautiful and full of life. These bodies are breakable and temporal, but our Spirits are Eternal, never ending. The Awesome Creator that made us designed us just like Himself, Eternal. I can't explain why He put us in these physical fallible bodies but there are reasons for everything. The important thing is our Spiritual relationship with Him. Christ came to make a way for His Spirit to once again live within man/woman. I didn't discover this amazing Truth until later in life. The young people that discover this information will have an incredible life ahead of them. All the best to you Bailley, God bless you!!!
anna zaman and still after it happened they were all the up there ..the police & fire department should of told them to get off immediately! Shocking 😳
@ Susan Rachel Most likely the LEOs did but they had much more pressing things to do then haul them off. And as Bailey's mom said, "20 year olds think they are invincible."
Ha! We Kiwi's get that a lot Anna but we can assure you it's English. New Zealand is way down the bottom corner of the globe but you're more than welcome to visit.
'Could it have been prevented'? That is kind of a moot point now, isn't it? Besides, there were WAY too many people on that balcony. Even if the building codes were up to snuff, you have to admit wood would not hold that amount of weight. I am a C4 incomplete...but you have to not blame certain things and just look at it realistically. Actually, Bailey, don't feel guilty...at least you were smart enough to be on the ground.
Such a strong young lady the band should be ashamed of themselves for the safety measures that were not taken during that show , will never listen to that band again
Sorry if this upsets people but this video made me very angry and I 'disliked' it. And it's not a serve at Bailey for the stupidity that led to the accident. But apart from the ACC logo at the very end of the video there was no mention of the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent by ACC on rehabilitation, house modifications at both her parent's house and at her flat, multiple wheelchairs for different purposes, a wheelchair bike, a modern fully adapted car etc. etc. No thanks for the ACC Case Manager(s) who made all of that happen. No mention that if the accident had happened anywhere else it would have required litigation to get a fraction of what was provided. I'm sure she'll make a great OT and it's a great career choice. But New Zealanders need to stop bagging ACC and start appreciating it.
Wow. Sounds like she was taken care of well. I am from the U.S. and we would have had to sue the school to get enough money to live. That car that delivered her wheelchair from the trunk to the driver's seat was amazing! I'm glad she was taken care of by the ACC. God bless.
The problem is, ACC legally discriminates against disabled people who don't have accidents. 1960's thinking was that there are worthy/ deserving disabled and the unworthy/ undeserving disabled people. Most disabled people in NZ live in poverty and die long before they get the big increase in income that people over 65 get. What makes this woman more worthy of support? All disabled people should be supported. ACC are despicable people.

Bailey is so strong
I barely feel safe on my apartment balcony alone let alone with 20 other people the people on those balconies are to blame
💓It’s the people that allowed that many people to go on those balconies who are to blame, it was an accident waiting to happen💓

Wow I would love an update?
Such a beautiful family 💜
How did i not know about this! Youre amazing Bailey, hope everything's going great for you ❤❤❤

I got the impression they told her mum but not Bailey.
@ Olivia Raney they may have but in her condition, it probably hadn't sunk in.
Yeahhhhh! OTs for the win! Would like to see an update. Have you finished your studies? Which area of OT are you most interested in?
All the best Bailley!
Weird the other decks stayed full. I would have been back off the deck immediately
@ Marge Las like her mom said, "20 year olds think they are1invincible."

@anna zaman Yes, there were.
She got some serieous arm strenght. 😱👌
I like the way you dress !! So beautiful so elegant 👌🏻
I am in a wheelchair if people say poor you or other things I said I'm thankful the hospital system (live in Australia)
I liked the line " I'm just like you except I'm sitting."
Yeah, Bailey, you're only Differently Abled! And everyone else is Temporarily Able Bodied.
Wow so beautiful ❤ would love to know how she is going with her degree.
What is their accent? I cannot understand half what they're saying
Ha! We Kiwi's get that a lot Anna but we can assure you it's English. New Zealand is way down the bottom corner of the globe but you're more than welcome to visit.
Try watching with subs. That sure helped me. // confused swede 😅👍
@ Anna zaman Use Captioning if you have trouble.
Your hank trike looks cool
I knew it as soon as I saw them balcony just all the people on it I said one of them was going to fall and then it happens wow

@ Bob Shilling the band has no say off the main area which this appeared to be.
Is the level of injury mentioned?
No it's not, but the physio mentions that she doesn't have any core muscles so maybe a thoracic break?
Thanks Rachel. She does actually have core muscle strength, it is a lower back injury. She is a wonderful person.
