Their new album, The Work is amazing as well. But you really need to try Black Crown Initiate - Song of the Crippled Bull. It's the single best technical progressive death metal release I've ever heard. A perfect 10 in every aspect. Also Hath - Of Rot and Ruin, amazing album. Beautiful band they are like a family in here- the network they share- you can see a lot of passion from these guys- this band went all out for this music video.
My Korean wife: "I didn't know they had this kind of metal in the 60s. When was it released?" 'Clean' from the upcoming album 'The Work' brought me back to this gem. What an album. What a band. Can't wait for the full release of 'The Work'.
This is truly something far beyond music genres and classifications. Sounds to me like a mix between Pink Floyd (psychedelic/progressive rock), Cynic (fusion/jazz/tech death), some Meshuggah (djent/mathcore, even if in this song I can't hear particular polymorphism) and maybe even some jazzy soul elements. And it works, fluid and flawless. Masterpiece, and maybe future milestone.
Okay so it’s the second coming. Didn’t you see Jesus standing behind them in the last section of video? I mean, come on, that’s Jesus fucking Christ. Hands out, offering you eternal life. And then he jacks off twice. What will they call the next coming? Trijaculate?

I looked at a child's handwriting the other day and realized how magical it was. Like a professional artist would go out of their way to make their writing look that way whereas the child did it naturally. That is this music video (the natural side of it).
Take LSD, ride a bike to a suburban hill or lake with a person you love, lie on the ground and play this on a mini JBL speaker as you watch purple summer sun set thousandfold over pulsating horizon ...
People DEFINITELY say that! I was listening to Spiritual Healing by Death on youtube just yesterday, and I saw a comment that said "shame that there are really no more good metal bands today" and I responded like "u fookin wat m8?"
yeah, but imagine, my studio recording teacher (a man that has more than 20 years in the field of sound engineering) told me that too, a fucking egocentric fool, he just listened to the 80s metal bands because he said "there are no longer good bands"

more like album of the decade. these guys are breaking some new grounds in metal and it's fucking amazing.
Without a doubt.
@@bluetextonwhitebg Im curious, what grounds were being broken with this album? Ive been listening to prog metal for years and I thought this album was just ok. Hope to hear back.
@@runaklem4428 tbh its kinda cool they have the sax, but they don't do anything too wild with it and the rest of the metal gets beat out by more adventurous prog and tech death groups so yeah i kinda agree
Yep.
This is fuken amazing
I love this band
Fuck off
Their entire catalog is awesome!
ua-cam.com/video/33DaHQJVkzk/v-deo.html I'm pretty sure this was their inspiration for this music video.
took the words right out my mouth
The video outclasses the audio with this one.
Please understand I say that knowing that my ears will still squirt uncontrollably while listening to this grand song
This song has been a staple of my Spotify rotation for about a year. The video is just an added amazing bonus lol. Are any of their other songs close to this tone and perfection?
The whole album is good.
The album after is different but it's a good thing. A lot less sax but still good metal.
You should really check out Subtle Change and my personal favorite from them The Void Which No Sound Escapes.
Has some standout songs like Currents or World Within.
My +1 would be Slugdge - The Spectral Burrows
@@M4RCi92 I saw black crown and rivers together. So fucjing amazing. No live sax though sadly.
That sax actually sounds so good
Oderus has been gone such a long time, its great seeing him again!
I don't leave comments on UA-cam very often, but I needed to say that finding out about these guys made me a happier person.
Thank you, I was needing it.
I love the fact that they are all happy and all having fun that's what its all about
When you expect a serious video for a serious song and these motherfuckers bring Lemmy and the Beatles back. Lmao
With a bit of Napalm Death thrown in.
lead singer has some serious dance moves!
I was thinking more Charles Bronson
Literally why I hate this video unfortunately. I can't listen to a song that makes me cry my fucking eyes out every time and make me feel like my soul is being TRAMPLED on with THESE visuals. Im sorry I just can't be taken out of the experience this song needs to give me like that unfortunately.
grateful dead?
King Crimson death metal!! Awesome
It just works
jajajajjajajajajaja
Saludos desde Venezuela
Just dropped in to say that this is the best video of the year by a long shot
This may be the single greatest music video in the history of mankind
Beautiful band they are like a family in here- the network they share- you can see a lot of passion from these guys- this band went all out for this music video.
when you step on lego at 2:24
Omfg yes
Your comment made my day mate! Thank you
Fucking lol
I am ded
my first thought usually "have I broken that block?"
This so beautiful, brilliant and BRUTAL \M/
I absolutely fell in love with their music. Amazing band and awesome video
will ever be one of my favorite songs. MASTERPIECE!
My Korean wife: "I didn't know they had this kind of metal in the 60s. When was it released?"
'Clean' from the upcoming album 'The Work' brought me back to this gem.
What an album. What a band.
Can't wait for the full release of 'The Work'.
2:25 is a legendary moment
WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT, fuckin awesome, that orc deff stole the show
You guys literally become King Crimson at 2:00 and 3:54 and it's pretty freakin' sweet
Thinking the exact same thing!
I was feeling more Supertramp with the sax
This song is probably my favourite I've heard so far this year. Never heard Rivers of Nihil but I'm glad to be here now!
Ambient, theatrical, somber, the context of the albums heartfelt story, the composition, the ending of the album, best album of the decade
✓ Dope sunglasses and bowler
✓ Saxophone
✓ Orc
But does it djent..?
✓ It does
Nice set-up and punchline lol. You got me laughing after I clicked "read more"
There isn't really any super djenty riffage in this song tho.
Unless I'm tripping balls
On a 6 string lmfao
How is this djent? Learn your music n00b!
This video just made this song like 25% better in my head.
Alright, relax, it's not the Second Coming or anything.
Sebastian Lacroix hahahahahahahhahaha
Okay so it’s the second coming. Didn’t you see Jesus standing behind them in the last section of video? I mean, come on, that’s Jesus fucking Christ. Hands out, offering you eternal life. And then he jacks off twice. What will they call the next coming? Trijaculate?
i think 20 years down the line we will all be older, we will just call it good music
Ihsahn did this ten years ago with “ on the shores “ solefield did it before that as well .. it’s an awesome album( best of the year for me ) but not crazy original
Я не знаю, каким образом ютуб поместил это мне в рекомендации, но я охереть как благодарен ему за это.
Dude!!!! I was listening to this on headphones working.... When I heard the sax guy I had to immediately pause and check for the video. Yooooo this is straight fire!!!
Yeah the song is great but the sax took it to the next level for sure
discovered this a few weeks ago, amd I've already listened to this track dozens of times. Only such a good track can pull off such a goofy video and still be so damn rewatchable.
Thank you very much to the random dude in a League of Legends match who recommended this out of the blue. You are appreciated
I just saw these guys last night in Worcester Ma, I only caught their last song as we got there late. But it was enough to make me look them up and find this
I wanted to see them in 2022 when they were in Pittsburgh I missed it... I was bummed
@@brettguyer3736, this is me finding out they were in Pittsburgh last year and now I’m bummed lol
Lyrics
And then I wished you away
I lost those memories
Of the days we weren't
Forsaken, why don't we
Just relax our eyes
And fall into a dream?
Let it take my mind
Where owls know my name
And it gets colder every day
And it gets colder every day
Lost in eternity's grasp
Withdrawing further from what we have known
This mentality that we built
It's breaking down
Still running away from it, you're still dreaming
Still hoping that there's something that may be worth seeking
You've wasted all that you have been given
Still hoping to find a way to make life worth living
Lost in eternity's grasp
We'll find no way to weather the storm
This mentality that we built
It's breaking down
All the same
Every path you take
You remain
Trapped within your shame
Go away, far away
Separate, from the shame
Go away, far away
Separate, from the shame
Lost in eternity's grasp
Withdrawing further from what we have known
This mentality that we built
It's breaking down
I've brought myself to this place
Where only owls would know me
This reality that I've built
Is an empty space
The gig recently in Bristol (UK) with Black Crown Initiate supporting was just absolute majestic bliss, can't wait to see these boys again live!
That the man from Black Crown Initiate? He jumped into a Mario. Bros warp tunnel, fought Bowser and landed on River of Nihil's vid. Nooooice! 🤪
Andy isn't just a cameo in the video, he's actually the greater part of that harmony on this track
Yeah, he did the cleans at the beginning of the song.
He is the meme lord Andy Thomas
I was wondering about that. I manlove Andy Thomas!
Never heard them before..but this...THIS... I AM AN INSTANT FAN!
Gotta admit, one of the best videos I've seen in a while.
Check out "Die Baby Die" by Kadavar.
@@KamenMinkov Not heavy enough.
Sitting down, having breakfast. Watching this video. It's just making me happy. Will send this video to my Pink Floyd and other 70ies bands-loving dad. I'm curious on his reactions. Great band, so awesome!
I looked at a child's handwriting the other day and realized how magical it was. Like a professional artist would go out of their way to make their writing look that way whereas the child did it naturally. That is this music video (the natural side of it).
the most perfect death metal music video has been made!!
Take LSD, ride a bike to a suburban hill or lake with a person you love, lie on the ground and play this on a mini JBL speaker as you watch purple summer sun set thousandfold over pulsating horizon ...
And idiots say there's no good metal bands today.
The people who say that only know mainstream metal bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
People DEFINITELY say that! I was listening to Spiritual Healing by Death on youtube just yesterday, and I saw a comment that said "shame that there are really no more good metal bands today" and I responded like "u fookin wat m8?"
Dont talk shit about Maiden and them being mainstream, they were never ever on radio and such.
Bro, they're on the radio NOW. They get played during classic rock sets.
Don't even, just....don't even.
yeah, but imagine, my studio recording teacher (a man that has more than 20 years in the field of sound engineering) told me that too, a fucking egocentric fool, he just listened to the 80s metal bands because he said "there are no longer good bands"
This album helped me so so much go through a very big depression a couple of years after it came out (around the start of covid and lockdown). I really felt deep within some lyrics from this song, A Home and Subtle Change. I felt empathy towards them. Really wish I can see them perform live someday, and if it happens, I'll probably end up crying lol.
I'd happily pay for and watch a two hour set of these guys just playing the outro of this song.
With love from India. Masterpiece. ❤
