Hi Sean, at 1:26 in the video, when you show the pull start housing cover, before you remove the pull start assembly, why is the cotter pin reversed? When you put it back together at 2:02 you insert the cotter properly. ???
After cleaning the engine of my FS55R and putting all parts back, when I tried to start the pull start doesn't engage the engine. What have I done wrong? Thanks in advance.
@@Nicaso16 Hey, if you're still looking to find out what you did wrong, I can tell you. There is a small piece of plastic under that little spring clip that is missing when you put it back together. It engages onto the engine flywheel when you put the cover back on the motor. Without it (and you can clearly see it missing when you put it back together) it won't work. Let me know and I'll send you the picture of what you're missing.
So..if I put the wheel on correctly it should feel pressure when spinning counter. I got nuthin. I can spin for days in either direction and can't get tension.
thevintagefetcher sorry so late but yes you should have tension on the wheel when you try to turn it I think counter clockwise. The end of the coil spring needs to sit in a slot that is on the plastic wheel.
You left out the part where you went and watched a video on how to replace the rope. Because that's NOT how you do it. I'm guessing this was a "funny" video. Something to get people frustrated when they try your method.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant mate! Now I can do my edges again. Legend!
And it works!!!!!!!!!
Thanks you helped me understand how to fix my string
Excellent video dude. Easy to figure out!
the best in the end is to fix the 1st screw to the fuel tank 😉
Nice one pal. Great video 👍
Great video. Worked fine for me, Manoel da Silva Filho
FK G thanks. It’s more of a temp fix until you get another pull start. Seeing that he cord will now be shorter the pull handle will sag.

I think you mean 6:02, but yes: that pin does affect pawl travel and... he reversed it on re-assembly.
Thank you!
I wish I saw this video before the tension spring came out
Thanks for the video. Do you have others related to Stihl products?
I did everything you did but shit just becomes loosened when it's fitted 😢

Benny Go one thing I’ve found is in the center of the spring there’s a little notch that sometimes doesn’t get engaged.
Thanks Sean, I'll try.

@@gollumgooglification Thank you, I managed to fix the problem.
I used a flat screwie to do that. No torx.
Almost 9 minutes and never pulled the rope 1 time. smh.
Thanks man…
Thanks a lot!

I came here coz i got the spring pop out, is still a good video but might want to consider not using that lighter near petrol for safety
