    Thank you so much for this teaching. Been a dispensationalist (w/o knowing it) for over 30 years, since I got saved but in the past 7 -10 have been questioning the 'end times rapture' and so I'm finally just recently looking into preterism. Thank You for sharing the Preterist worldview. I have been a full preterist for 15 years now and found it has the answers for all other worldviews. Dispensationalism being the most dangerous of them all.. It will only breed disappointment and eventually unbelief due to all the false prophesies they are hanging on. As a preterist, we can live as knowing who we are in Christ and all we are expected to be doing, is to reflect Jesus within us and continue sharing the kingdom of God as here and now and not a utopian physical kingdom that the world is waiting on.

      Then what are we waiting on if not a new heaven and new earth where man will no longer die and things will be as they were intended to be? Where's the great city of new Jerusalem? Where it says the children of God will dwell with christ?
      What happens to us when we die then? What about all the pestilence and disease? What about the lgbtq and trans people? What about the jews? They still don't believe in christ yet revelation says they will come to know him during the tribulation when the antichrist turns on them.

      Do you believe this happened in the first century? Matthew 24:30-31: “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then ALL the peoples of the earth (NOT just Jerusalem) will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, (NOT just Jerusalem) from one end of the heavens to the other." IF this happened in the first century and ALL the peoples of the earth saw the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, I think it would be the most spectacular event in all of history and historical records around the entire world would be rife with reports of dumbfounded people in total shock at the most amazing sight ever! Notice it says ALL the people of the earth and not just those around Jerusalem. Or are you saying All the peoples of the earth is a metaphor for people around Jerusalem. Sorry, this did NOT happen in the first century Jerusalem. How do you make some things metaphors and others literal, like passages in Revelation that say certain events will happen soon, or quickly? Also, the word translated soon in Revelation (these things will soon happen) is according to Strong’s the Greek word “tachei” and it means: quickness, speed; hastily, immediately. So, it can be a reference to a particular event happening at a quick pace once it starts. Also in the Olivet Discourse in Matthew Jesus HIMSELF says, “Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light." This is the sign that Joel 2:31 says come right before the Day of the Lord. Peter says "The Day of the Lord comes as a thief, the heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will melt in fervent heat, and the earth and ALL its works will be laid bare." This ABSOLUTELY did not happen in the first century.

      @@makarov138 I wont believe Paul either? It does not say, “has been proclaimed” - it “is proclaimed in all creation.” as in its still ever presently being preached and given Word of the Gospel where it travels forth. It is already proclaimed as an existent fact in creation that Christ died for all,and it is now a part of all existence but the knowledge of it must be ministered forth by ministers of that Word. 'The real translation does not say it had already been fully preached in all creation! If it had been,then why were there still pagan nations such as the Native Americans all over the world up to the 20th century? The solution is that the translation “which has been proclaimed,” is not at all the most natural translation. It baffles me why translations give it that meaning, a temporal meaning, “which has been proclaimed.” That’s translating two Greek words, “the proclaimed” - tou kērychthentos. That’s all it’s translating: “the proclaimed.”
      It is a straightforward aorist passive participle in agreement with the word gospel. Both of them are genitive singular, and thus clarifying. It clarifies and defines the kind of gospel we’re talking about. With the article the in front of the participle, it is not an adverbial participle telling when. There’s nothing temporal about it. It doesn’t say “has been proclaimed.” That’s not in the word at all. Very literally it would read like this: “. . . the gospel that you heard, the proclaimed one in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.” The proclaimed gospel is being ministered. The Proclaimed gospel is the one that is presently being administered to all creation. It was not all preached in the 1st century. It was spiritually proclaimed into creation by becoming a spiritual fact of the salvation of creation and man, God proclaimed the Gospel had begun to be a saving fact to all creation,while the ministers must be the fishers of men and women to preach the gospel.

    Very good synopsis brother. I was minding my own business and had as an antenna of curiosity, in my bible reading, "Where did the OT prophets obtain their authority?" James said they were just men like us. Of all the things God gave me that shook me was the preterist view, and the universalist view of Scripture. Authority came via scripture resting with itself in my mind. The amount of prejudice I had and ignorance (not completely overcome) was astounding. Don Preston was/is a major find and resource. What is missing with that brother is that it is too academic, and what is hinted at here with you is what I call the "So What?" How does this effect my love, my walk, my relationship with Jesus? Thanks for putting this out there.

I love Don's work as well, but yes, he speaks as a scholar not so much a preacher, so it can get in the weeds and a bit niche (which is great for anyone studying the topic). “This gospel of the kingdom, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then *the end* shall come” - Matt. 24:14
      Jesus said the gospel mission would end in 70 AD when Christ Returned to bring salvation to the saints at the Final Judgment on Jerusalem. There is no eternal gospel mission to reach all nations over and over again after its full completion.
      Scripturally, there is no gospel mission after 70 AD. If so, where do we see the Apostles preaching after 70 AD?

    Its poetry month so here you go
    Hilarious but pertinent
    The Calf Path
    One day through the primeval wood
    A calf walked home as good calves should;
    But made a trail all bent askew,
    A crooked trail as all calves do.
    Since then three hundred years have fled,
    And I infer the calf is dead.
    But still he left behind his trail,
    And thereby hangs my moral tale.
    The trail was taken up next day,
    By a lone dog that passed thet way;
    And then a wise bell-wether sheep
    Pursued the trail o'er vale and steep,
    And drew the flock behind him, too,
    As good bell-wethers always do.
    And from that day, o'er hill and glade.
    Through those old woods a path was made.
    And many men wound in and out,
    And dodged , and turned, and bent about,
    And uttered words of righteous wrath,
    Because was such a crooked path;
    But still they followed-do not laugh-
    The first migrations of that calf,
    And through this winding wood-way stalked
    Because he wobbled when he walked.
    The forest path became a lane,
    That bent and turned and turned again;
    The crooked lane became a road,
    Where many a poor horse with his load
    Toiled on beneath the burning sun,
    And travel some three miles in one.
    And thus a century and a half
    They trod the footsteps of that calf.
    The years passed on in swiftness fleet,
    The road became a village street;
    And this, before men were aware,
    A city's crowded thoroughfare.
    And soon the central street was this
    Of a renowned metropolis;
    And men two centuries and a half,
    Trod in the footsteps of that calf.
    Each day hundred thousand rout
    Followed the zig zag calf about
    And o'er his crooked journey went
    The traffic of a continent.
    A hundred thousand men were led,
    By one calf near three centuries dead.
    They Followed still his crooked way,
    And lost one hundred years a day;
    For thus such reverence is lent,
    To well established precedent.
    A moral lesson this might teach
    Were I ordained and called to preach;
    For men are prone to go it blind
    Along the calf-paths of the mind,
    And work away from sun to sun,
    To do what other men have done.
    They follow in the beaten track,
    And out and in, and forth and back,
    And still their devious course pursue,
    To keep the path that others do.
    But how the wise old wood gods laugh,
    Who saw the first primeval calf.
    Ah, many things this tale might teach-
    But I am not ordained to preach.

Not that my faith has lessened at all, it’s more of an overwhelming information overload. History has been so twisted, falsely told, destroyed, buried (literally) that it’s impossible to know what our real history is. What I do know with every cell in my body is that the Bible is the TRUE word of God, and Jesus is LORD.

You think the YHVH created Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread fail to teach about the Messiah’s resurrection? Did such an event slip the mind of the creator so that you are required to celebrate spring pagan festivals and force the Jewish Messiah into them?
      Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc have nothing to do with the Jewish Messiah (who was born in Autumn on Sukkoth, circumcised on the Eighth Day Assembly, dies on Passover and Raised on First Fruits!)
      Did you not read that the Messiah taught that everything in the Torah is about Him! Are you going to invent a celebration about the Messiah (or steal a pagan celebration) that is superior to a YHVH created celebration?

    • @realSeanMcMahon
      @realSeanMcMahon  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for listening! I would answer your question from two angles: the eternal and the temporal.
      Speaking of eternity, I believe we can all look forward to the same thing that futurists look forward to - except immediately after death. As the Church has taught for millennia, the glorified saints (Church Triumphant) intercede for humanity alongside the angels, and exercise judgment over the affairs of the new creation in the presence of the Lord (Rev. 14:10, Rom. 2:16).
      As for this temporal life, we in the Church Militant do the same, exercising the same Kingdom authority, albeit with limited power proportional to our “earthen vessels” (2 Cor. 4:7).
      Another thing worth celebrating: many have forgotten why, but the liturgy as we received it from the first Christian generations has always spoken of the Church as the New Jerusalem, the place where heaven and earth meet. Go to a modern Catholic Mass and you’ll still hear them proclaim this. Go to an Eastern Orthodox mass, where the words of the liturgy are even older, and they pray gratitude that the Second Coming is past when they offer the Eucharist (Thanksgiving): “Do this in remembrance of Me! Remembering this saving commandment and all those things *which have come to pass for us*: the Cross, the Tomb, the Resurrection on the third day, the Ascension into heaven, the Sitting at the right hand, *and the Second and glorious Coming.*”
      As far as I can see in scripture, there is no end to this physical temporal world (God won’t destroy it) neither the eternal one, and both are joined together in marriage. We are in an everlasting covenant that can’t be broken because it has the forgiveness of sins built into the deal!

Revelation closes with the promise that “those who are victorious will inherit all this” goodness in the New Jerusalem but outside are “the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars” (Rev. 21:7-8, 22:15). I am a partial preterist. My main issue of hyper or full preterism is the resurrection of the just band unjust. The first resurrection is Jesus. Blessed is he (or she) that shares in that resurrection. But the rest of the dead lived not til the thousand years (the church age) were (was) finished. The Gentile church age is symbolized by the thousand years. It seems to me that Jesus came in judgment in AD 70, but He will come again personally to catch away the church. Then Gog and Magog. Then the final resurrection of the just and unjust when people are raised up, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting contempt (Dan 12:2 and John 5:29). Explain to me how the final resurrection transpired in AD 70. Thanks

    • @realSeanMcMahon
      @realSeanMcMahon  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for listening Jonathan. Here's my take:
      The first resurrection refers to those in Christ, those who have passed from judgment according to Jn. 5:24. The second resurrection pertains to everyone else. The numbering of the resurrections doesn't necessarily apply to sequence, but rank, just as Peter is not listed first among the apostles as if he was the first called in order (he wasn't), but first in rank.
      I wouldn’t say that the “final resurrection” as you put it occurred at AD 70, or in history, but rather in eternity or "the aion to come". I’m assuming by “final resurrection” you are referring to Rev. 20:5 and 20:12f.
      Now as for the timing of this re: thousand years mentioned in Rev. 20:5, one interpretation is “when the thousand years are finished” however another valid translation is “when the thousand years were fulfilled”. This latter translation would yield the interpretation that the “final resurrection” comes with the inauguration of the thousand years rather than its termination, and I think that fits the prophetic scheme better. I say this for two reasons.
      1) The “thousand years” concept, as outlined in the Enoch material where the concept originates, speaks of the Messianic “thousand years” as an endless period. Similarly, within the canonical Bible, there is no end to the Lord’s Messianic reign. His Kingdom has no end.
      2) The prophets said there is a resurrection of the just and the unjust. The faithful Christians, along with those raised with Christ at the Harrowing of Hades, were the first fruits of the resurrection of the just. These received a resurrection of glory etc, and that upon baptism. The remaining "resurrection" was for those who did not believe in Jesus to be raised and judged according to their works and take their place in the lake of fire in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb -- and this upon death (hence Rev. 20 speaks of this judgment as pertaining to the dead). This is what is being references in Heb. 9:27 and 2 Cor. 5:10.
      Remember, Jesus clarifies that those resurrected are like "angels IN HEAVEN". The Biblical resurrection speaks of a spiritual body in heaven. Other records from the early church also teach this (Shepherd of Hermas, Epistle of Barnabas, Clementine Recognitions).

    So when was the "Last Day"? When would the dead in Christ come back to life again? You mean to tell me that sin, evil spirits and evil do not exist now?! If you do, you are being dishonest. When would death be gone? When would Satan and evil spirits be gone? When would sin be no more? The Biblical Eternity looks like this. Revelation 21: 3- "They shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. There shall be no more death.’[b] Neither shall there be any more sorrow nor crying nor pain, for the former things have passed away.” I want to see Jesus's face, and all my relatives that died trusting in Jesus. The scripture tells me this time will come. When would this be? Your FULL preterist position does not explain this. It is clear that Jesus' words on Matthew 24 refer to the end of the age that happened in 70 AD. I get that. It is also clear that most of the book of Revelation refers to the same event as in Matthew 24. This is reality. I know you would call it "Partial Preterism", But REALITY tells me that Revelation 20:7 and on HAS NOT BEEN FULFILLED YET. We are now living in the age of the Messiah Jesus which will usher us into what is described in Revelation 21:3. To say that this is all that there is just being out of touch with reality. To say that we are now living in eternity as described in Revelation 21 is just a plain lie. Your eternity is not Biblical. You are preaching an eternity where people are born, where many go without hope and salvation. An eternity where most suffer helplessly, and people sin and die without Christ. An eternity with sin, misery, pain, sorrow, evil and death is a lie from the satanic realm. If you still teach this, you are wrong.

Today a person could have an attraction of the same sex. That person could know its wrong and is ashamed of it. That person can still have a relation with the Holy Spirit. Another gay person who likes to to go to gay pride marches and speaks up on gay rights will not have that relationship with the Holy Spirit. Pride leads to a hard heart (a rejection of God). God will not force you to have a relation with him. He will not force you into Heaven.

    A question.
    In Daniel, I read: after 7+62 weeks, "the Messiah shall be cut off." You say that at the end of 69 weeks, Jesus came to the scene at 27 BC. You then say that the Messiah will be cut off in the middle of the 70th week. While Daniel says that the coming prince will put an end to sacrifice in the middle of the 70th week. There's a disconnect between your account and that of Daniel's. Any explanation for this?

    • @realSeanMcMahon
      @realSeanMcMahon  Рік тому +6

      Thanks for your question! The coming Prince was Christ. He put an end to sacrifice and offering at the Cross - this is the significance of the torn veil in Mt. 27 and of course the Epistles repeatedly state that there is no forgiveness for sins anywhere (ie the Temple) but in Christ. Heb. 10 is a good summary of this concept and v26 shows explicitly the Temple sacrifices for sins were exhausted because the (old) covenant thereof had been “taken away” (v9)

    PRETERISM DESTROYED
    "ALL these things" are not fulfilled and therefore Jesus has not returned as the cult of preterism falsely teaches. Take a look:
    "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away (be renovated), but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matthew 24:34-36
    So if all these things are NOT yet fulfilled, and they aren't, how could this be speaking of that generation and not a future generation? Impossible. "This generation" could not have possibly been the generation, the people Jesus was speaking to when He spoke these words. We know that because most of these things were not fulfilled.
    Did "the abomination of desolation" prophesied by Daniel happen in 70 A.D.? Nope.
    "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)" Matthew 24:15
    Did Jesus return on the clouds and take up His elect? Nope. Matthew 24:29-31 Were Christ's elect gathered today in 70A.D.? No.
    "Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Matthew 24:29-31
    "ALL these things" Jesus is specifically speaking of in this passage/teaching are not fulfilled and thereby we know the preterists a cancerous cult that are misleading many (1 Timothy 1:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:18). They are the Hymaneus' of our day.
    If your "Jesus" has already come, He's "another Jesus" and not "the Almighty" who said "he cometh with clouds; and EVERY EYE shall see him." Has NOT transpired. He said that He's coming "in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory ... with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." This is NOT happened.
    The fact that these things were not fulfilled in 70A.D. clearly reveals that preterism is heretical - because "ALL these things" did not come to pass in 70A.D. Future fulfillment.

    Sounds so good. Except for the fact that it contradicts the Messiah’s teaching about the permanence of Torah. Paul does a lot of contradicting of Messiah. That’s because Paul is not the thirteenth Apostle. For many other reasons, because there are only twelve Apostles. That’s also why you had to interpret the 12 foundations incorrectly; to give the false Roman Catholic belief in apostolic succession.
    No, there’s only twelve foundations and twelve apostles and the Messiah taught Torah permanence and Paul is not an Apostle (thirteenth or otherwise).
    If it’s any consolation, Jeremiah teaches us that animal blood sacrifice was never part of the original and true Torah (it was added by later lying scribes).
    Faith in The King cannot also incorporate rebellion against the King’s commands of permanence. You are teaching rebellion to Torah to lead as many astray as possible to suffer your same fate (should you not repent).
    I allege one more smiling face lying to the races.
    [Roman Catholicism is only mentioned to give full credit to their intellectual property; albeit an argued false doctrine called, “apostolic succession.” All her daughter denominations of anti-Torah Pauline Christianity were equally criticized without favoritism nor prejudice 😊.]
    “Believers” in Revelation are defined as those who hold to the testimony of the Messiah and who obey the commandments of Torah. Don’t be deceived: Yahusha is the Jewish Messiah and the Torah is still our rule of law, as the King has explained and taught.

    Some of them are of a High Order of Critical mucky mucks others Atheist and of course the Master Theologians who probably all would sign the list put out against those who stand for and seek the truth.
    The latest comments below are not for them, at least not yet, I think it's best to let it cure for a while. But I wanted you to have it to examine and see if it fits in your train of thought and what the Lord is doing in your life.
    To tell the truth I edited out the harsh criticism and rank sarcasm which they deserve but would only foster derision and contempt. Let God handle it for now but I think they're signing their own doom.
    No since saying something I'll regret.
    Part of being in the school of the Apostles (which is a goodly fellowship) is coming to that place where you are able to pray "Father forgive them for they know not what they do"
    I'm working on it. How about you?
    The poetry came in 2016 by 2018 I was in for repairs and was laid up for a while and had time to study and channel up. It wasn't until 2020 that preterism started showing up in my u tube Q.
    I couldn't believe I missed the whole ad 70 thing and I knew nothing about Apocalyptic genres or cloud coming symbols and language.
    You have no idea how happy I was!
    The greatest thing now is that I've found the right titles for my Poetry; the initial ones just never seem to fit right.
    No telling what can happen if we just have patience and wait on the Lord.

      @truthequalsfreedom7There are many areas where the Catholic Church goes against or does not agree with the Bible. For instance, the Catholic Catechism in 1129 says, “…the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation.” The BIBLE says, in Eph. 2:8, “Salvation is by faith, through grace, NOT WORKS…” Eph. 2:10 then says “we are saved UNTO good works.” The Catechism in 2010 says, “…we can then merit for ourselves graces needed for sanctification…and the attainment of eternal life.” The BIBLE in Romans 11:6 says, “God’s grace-His undeserved kindness in choosing them…it is NOT by their good works.” The Catechism in 846 says, “…the (Catholic) Church is necessary for salvation.” The BIBLE says in Acts 4:12 concerning the name of Jesus, “there is no other name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” The Catechism says, in 1339 talks of the bread and the wine becoming the body and blood of Jesus. The BIBLE in 1 Peter 2:24 says, “He (JESUS) personally carried our sins in his body on the cross.” The Catechism in 1323 says, “the Savior instituted the Eucharist to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross through the ages…” The BIBLE in John 13:30 has Jesus saying, “It is finished.” The Catechism in 552, 765, and 880 says, “Peter is the head of the Apostles. The BIBLE in John 13:13 declares Jesus to be the disciples’ Lord and Teacher. The Catechism in 964 intimates that Mary’s union with Christ is inseparable from Christ in the work of salvation; making Mary a co-redeemer with Jesus. The BIBLE has Jesus Himself saying, “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father (Heaven) but through Me.” The catechism in 2677 attributes the role of Mediatrix to Mary, but the BIBLE in 1Timothy 2:5 says, “There is one God and ONE mediator…the man, Christ Jesus.” The Catechism in 841 says, the Catholic Church and the Muslim faith both believe in the same God. However, the Muslim god does NOT have a son, per Islam. By the way, NO WHERE in the Bible does it ever say, that Mary is the mother of God (she was the earthly mother of the human nature of Jesus who was still God from eternity past) nowhere in the BIBLE does it ever say to pray to Mary or the saints, nowhere in the BIBLE does it ever say Mary was or is a PERPETUAL virgin, in fact Matthew 13:35 speaks of her other children, four sons by name and at least two sisters. The Greek words in this passage does NOT allow for cousins, but is properly translated brothers and sisters. Nowhere in the BIBLE does it ever say Mary was immaculately conceived, nor does it ever say that she was sinless or rose bodily into Heaven; these concepts are NOT in the BIBLE! I could go on and on. There are many, many more areas where the Catholic Church has added to scripture doctrines that are not there and, in fact, go totally against the BIBLE.

    The Holy Spirit is God and dwells in all believers. Satan is the author of confusion. If we disagree on scripture, through prayer we would have unity. Jesus said seek and you shall find. Find what? Confusion, symbolism and uncertainty? How has Jesus left behind the Holy Spirit and greater things will be done? Greater than what? We cannot even read the Word of God without everyone calling into question everything. If there is one Holy Spirit then the truth will be revealed to those who truly believe and live their lives according to the scriptures. The Word of God is not a mystery novel rather an instruction manual for daily living. When I see those with a Doctorate of Theology disagreeing with each other how is this possible? The world looks at the Christian faith as something man made and not to be taken seriously. If there is one God, Son and Holy Spirit then what is wrong here? The author of confusion is the one dividing us. If we ask Jesus for what we need He said He will give it to us. Really? God's reputation is on the line here. If we are praying for the truth of God's Word to be revealed then is that too much to ask? How are these PhD individuals divided. How are any believers divided in their understanding of God's Word? Why is it that the author of confusion has EVERYONE CONFUSED and we can't see it? Is that symbolism too? God's reputation is at stake here. He either said what was written or not. Jesus clearly tells us what satan's plans are and that he can fool even the elect. How does this confusion and divisiveness give glory and honor to God? Are we who believe suppose to focus on the Gospel of Jesus Christ? How can we bring the lost to Jesus if we have absolutely no unity within the body of Christ? Is there a snatching away of believers spoken of in God's Word? Yes! Does it happen before Seal One? During Seal Six? At the last Trumpet? All of this takes away from the Great Commission. The world doesn't take us serious because we are leaning on our own understandings. We have lost our first love and need to focus on Jesus.
