it is a win for all of us, even those who don't care for BG3. Larian as an independent studio shook the games industry when many AAA game developers (on behalf of their corporate publishers) complained this increased "unrealistic." standards/expectations for AAA games. - no microtransactions - pushed hardware (Xbox S/S is limited) - multiplayer games are not reliant on corporate servers/services Lan, p2p, local split screen co-op.
BG3 100% deserved all the awards that it won, though I felt they should have also won best Music too.....and what a total BOSS Sven was to be wearing his armour to the award show 😆
He did it on the condition that Adam (the lead writer as well as character writer of Minthara) wore a bear outfit so while they're accepting GOTY you can see Adam crying in his bear costume lol.
I cried when they won GOTY. They let us in like we are part of their family, what other game studio does that? I highly recommend playing a good dark urge if you haven't done so already. I won't play a regular Tav anymore, that poor girl is boring now. Jaheira and Astarion will be very helpful. There is only one gory scene you can't prevent, and it's easier if you have high charisma. Make good friends with Astarion then you will understand.
Almost got kicked out of the buffet because I kept eating and watching the game awards. First time actually watching the show🤣 what a great sweep from Larian and SO MANY great projects coming 2025
I'm really pleased that my two favorite games of the year--BG3 and Alan Wake 2--both did really well. BG3 was the game I looked forward to the most this year, and was everything I hoped it would be, while Alan Wake 2 was the game I didn't know I wanted but which I ended up loving. Two absolutely amazing games.
7:02 lol.. I did NOT think you were gonna be 44 years old on account of all the gray! lol.. I'm 4 years older than you and I don't have nearly as much! But congrats on another year (almost) around the sun!
I also didn't like Astarion at first, but as the game went on he won me over. It's great to take him with you as he's got the best quips and banter. I'm hoping Larian doesn't go public in stock market... If they do, will they be able to keep the same quality and artistry?
Just got it on the series X, plays smoother than my old PC. Although seems brighter, still got to see what settings I can adjust. Are there differences between the Series X and S on this game? Beginning to feel like the Series S is holding the X back quite a bit and seeing some of those PS5 exclusives has me thinking of jumping ship.
Good to see the win! Hopefully it will encourage a few developers to risk sandbox RPGs without endless in game upsellling / paid DLC content. Re: Astarion - I’ve seen enough of his content to know he does get a decent redemption arc. OTOH, he needs to be constantly prompted not to be a narcissist and sadist, and that is more work than I want to put in for a fictional friendship. Plus, he tries to molest the player character in their sleep and his only regret (ever) is that you woke up before he had his fangs in you. So, no. No redemption arc for him. I don’t need snark that badly.
The character is so interesting that on a good playthrough I keep him and explore his quests / arc. Where if he wasn't such an in-depth character, he would get staked right away when he attacks me in my sleep on a legit good character playthrough
Sadly, Baldur’s Gate 3 didn’t sweep every award, but it won 6 awards. Which makes it the most awarded Game of the Year in the history of the Game Awards so far! But it should of won for best game direction and best music. Especially for best music!
So, an odd thought occurred to me. Larian has released Definitive Editions for their last 2 games, and I always assumed they'd do the same for BG3......but now they've won GOTY, and we know that most developers tend to release a GOTY edition of their games. So will Larian be putting out a Definitive GOTY edition of BG3.....that is like a Definitive Edition Plus? 😉
Definitive edition, aka, the game they actually promised in the first place and just falsely advertised the current version as being. Larian has a very bad history with this rug pull approach, but they keep getting paid for it so they will just keep doing it.

@@JohnSmith-rr3jt BTW, sad little loser, even if we accepted any of the other falsehoods you speak, your entire argument falls on its ass because of the simple fact that Larian have never once charged extra money for any additional content they add into their Definitive Editions. So if this were some kind of "scam"-and not simply the normal byproduct of iterative development-then its a scam that is technically costing them money, given that it requires additional resources for them to add this stuff in.
