    Voller was going to lose no matter what.
    Even if he managed to travel back to 1939 and kill Hitler to guide Germany to victory himself, he wouldn't get the chance to become the leader because he would lose the power struggle with Hitler' inner circle like Himmler and Goring who were basically next in line to succeed their fuhrer.
    Compared to them Voller was a nobody who wouldn't be accepted as leader even when armed with knowledge of the present.

      Now you mention the Civil War, I was thinking about a story involving a character just like Voller who wished to travel back to 1860s in order to guide the South to victory.

    A lot folks commenting here without having seen the movie are missing the rest of the sequence before this.
    Voller was such a loser, even discarded by Hitler, and, despite having found a new home and contributed to the space race, he was so fixated on getting back at Hitler and so sure of his brilliance that he completely overlooked a simple thing that turned the tables on him.
    There’s a great moment before they end up in the past where Indy’s making fun of him, telling him his calculations were wrong, and then another great moment where he’s just sitting on the plane looking so hopeless and pathetic as everything is crumbling around him.
    Helena, a woman, shooting him was the final embarrassment in his eyes, Indy making off with the last parachute, and then the realization that he’s about to die in the wrong time and place just makes it so satisfying.

      Why is it a good movie? There's many great action scenes, an interesting and original plot, a sense of adventure and of course it's amazing to see Harrison Ford as Indy again together with the iconic music from John Williams.
      Mads Mikkelsen was perfect in his role. Even Phoebe Waller-Bridge's character Helena was surprisingly likeable.
      It's not as goofy as Crystal Skull was, which was a relief. There's very little anything that would have annoyed me in this movie. It's was a good Indy movie and that's a great achievement. I'm not that easy to please.
      Why don't you want to watch it?

    • @Hauerization
      @Hauerization 6 місяців тому +2

      I actually HAVE watched it now. ;) Harrisson Ford felt sad, Phoebe Weller was - not surprisingly - obnixoius and arrogant, the action scenes felt highly artifical and greenscreened and the timetravelling-plot felt like something out of Monty Python. And as good as Mikkelsen is, I felt he deserved to be in a better film. In short; it was precicely the dumpsterfire everyone (except people whos "not easy to please" apperently) predicted.@@KenShackler

    • @KenShackler
      @KenShackler 6 місяців тому +7

      @@Hauerization I mean Indy had lost his son and gotten a divorce. He was supposed to be a bit sad. That's not really a critique, unless you're just in principle against the idea that Indy could be sad for some reason.
      Same thing with Helena and arrogance. At the same time people are complaining that she's a so called "Mary sue" and at the same time they're complaining that they gave they gave the character flaws. Yes, she might be slightly arrogant at the beginning of the movie, but that's the point. At least she has a personality. Then she grows as a character and becomes less arrogant throughout the movie. That's the point. A character being slightly arrogant isn't a proper critique in itself. Tons of beloved character throughout history have been slightly arrogant. For example Iron Man in the Marvel movies is very arrogant, but for some reason people aren't complaining about that. You can't really defend it with "oh but he makes mistakes and grows as a character" because so does Helena.
      Regarding the green screen, I don't know what to tell you. A lot of the action was shot on location actually, but if it feels like greesnscreen to you, then you're allowed to feel what you feel I guess.
      Same thing with your Monthy Pyton feelings. I don't think it felt like Monthy Pyton at all, but these are subjective things, so what ever.
      At least you watched the movies, so I can respect your opinion. Even if I have a feeling that you made up your mind before watching it and let your biases affect your enjoyment of the movie. Or maybe you didn't, I don't care. But nevertheless I'm happy that I'm not you, and got to enjoy one last Indiana Jones movie.

    I only like this particular portion of the film. You could really tell who likes Indiana Jones and who doesn’t in these newer movies. I just can’t stand how they keep releasing these movies that have obvious studio interference and with a rushed production of just about everything. This franchise needs to be rebooted or possibly spun off but *out* and *AWAY* from the hands of Disney. Indiana Jones needs to start fresh and simple with someone who actually can write and make movies. That or just leave this franchise alone. his legacy does not need to be tainted. A shame that after this one bombed to oblivion, they didn’t try again with the legos, or the toys, or merchandise, this franchise will once again fall into the dark abyss. Best chance at redemption is that new Indiana Jones videogame.
