Whoever thinks a robot never calls in sick has never tried to get ice cream from a McDonald’s
It's literally the only thing I will buy from McDonald's, but the ice cream machines being down is a real thing! There's even an app you can check first.😂
hahaha... true
@@Christina-71you're one of the six women listening to the pod!!

I worked for the last 5 years at a Biotech AI company (first as a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer and later as Head of Machine Learning), and I think it will be great both on a lower level, such as curing diseases and creating personalized medicine, and on a higher level for humanity, where there is an unconditional basic income.
The sun provides enough energy.
The earth has enough space to house everyone.
Automation can enable a continuous food supply for everyone.
From first principles, there is nothing speaking against such a future. There are certain events that can prevent this from happening, but this is still the future I am striving for :)
@@samparr9605 Thanks AI Sam!
You're conveniently leaving out cultura and psychological human traits. But nice utopia you have there man.
UBI, lol.
That was Andrew Yang 4 years ago.
Milton Friedman’s negative income tax 60 years ago.
EITC. Stimmie checks. All the same.
Electric Sheep. Blade Runner was based on a novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”
What an amazing (an equally terrifying) pod! Love the thumbnail too BTW. The burden of proof required to satisfy a civil court is relatively low, in theory, Elon only needs to prove that his version of events are more likely true than not. Even if the standard was raised to clear and convicing, I do not see how the court's decision could leave Elon with anything other than a W. As was pointed out, Elon's original investment into a purpose-driven, non-profit company is now anything and everything but.
If Shaan drops a course on the Art of Storytelling, I’d buy it
Ditto!😂
I live in Wisconsin, oh the warehouse workers keep their jobs here for their whole life. They don't change ever. I have lived in 6 states, was not born here, and oh boy do I not fit in. I am 43 and I have been unemployed since July 2023. I have 12 years of Investment Finance experience, including trading, back office, and positions at RIA firms.
Honestly, people hang on to their jobs in these settings because they can't afford to be flippant like people in metropolitan areas where they'll have unlimited options. It's a difference of culture not necessarily a clash of one, merely a contrast of mindsets. Reflecting on the stability of unionized warehouse jobs versus the global nature of investment careers. Location-based roles like warehouse jobs vs market-based ones in that financial jobs.
Exploring the unique dynamics of jobs rooted in longstanding traditions and secure union practices, where generations pass down their roles. Contrasted with the fluid and location-independent nature of investment jobs, where global markets operate on a synchronized schedule regardless of time zones. The yin-yang balance between preserving legacies in one field and embracing modern flexibility in another offers a fascinating perspective on career paths.
Phenomenal episode. You two bounced off each other like champs in this one 👏
You guys are both so awesome, thanks so much for all the value you bring.
What are those headphones Sam is wearing?
Jobs these robots will replace are paying funds under what it takes to survive. The real question is how do you put to work, at much higher salaries the majority of the population as you will have the robots and 100k + people. Not saying this as a hippie, but as a Product Manager interested in the human product in work.
The main learning I took from this episode of The Pod was: 'What is the midwit version of my business and how do I avoid that?'
Most of the pain here comes from the mismatch between the speed of advancement and the (local/global) ability to absorb the advances. If job losses in certain fields take a decade to fully play out, there's a path there. When it's much faster, people feel like they, or actually are, being run over. Look at how quickly NAFTA changed the face of manufacturing in the US in the 90s. The part that generates feat is the very real potential for AI-driven change to be across most/all parts of society and the change to come much much faster.
The key is to always have a human facing front to act as the manager “host”. These one host will need to be paid substantially more than restaurant workers today. But this pay should be justified with the increased efficiency. They will also need to be more technical savvy than your restaurant today. Also restaurants will need to embrace a community mentality where communities meet at this restaurants. This can substantially reduce the headache of people hosting house guest when maybe their house isn’t clean or kids or around when it’s an adult only event. I could see humans actually be able to strategize their dining out experience a lot more than we can now.
As if I don’t always listen through the whole thing 😊
this is easily the best episode in a long time, great storytelling and information. excited to ride through this ai wave with the pod for hopefully many more years.
This is about who tells a better story and where we as humanity devote our finite resources.
Is it going to be towards fast growth or steady but calculated steps towards sustainable growth.
My best educated guess would be that we will see most things break in the world and chaos for next 20 years but then we will come out as a better species.
I’m not even a techie, but I MUST KNOW 😮

Usually I'm watching or listening to this in the background, the 2nd half of the pod put an end to that.
Going to take a nap now.
Shaan Bodied that Elon story. I knew all the details and I was still hooked. The entire time he was telling it. 🎉
Awesome Episode!
This upload schedule is on point. This honestly has become one of the podcasts I religiously listen to next to the Tim Ferris show.
Appreciate you guys for introducing us to so many new entrepreneurs and ideas.
It’s going to be really bad when everyone is as depressed as an aimless founder who just had an exit. Work keeps people honest and occupied.
Blendid has a robot that makes smoothies, Apis Cor has one that prints houses
I think this is one of those prepare for the worst, hope for the best, it will probably fall in the middle, kind of situations.
I am definitely trying to get my startup off the ground before the perpetual AI winter too haha
Interesting pod. Love the Microsoft CEO quote 😂

excellent storytelling
In 20-30 years, a lot of these jobs will evaporate due to the proliferation of AI, we will probably see a shift to the creator economy since most knowledge-based jobs could be cheaply replaced by AI. Entertainment and other jobs where you subscribe to a person would probably never be replaced (you enjoy the human aspect). I imagine that people will have to live off the interest of their investments/ or whatever established business they already own.
One of my favorite episodes to date!! Excellent work boys.

Best Rollercoaster Ride for sure.
It'll between horrible and middle.
I think the Discovery process here would be epic. I don't think Elon cares, but I think Sam and Microsoft will be very interested in not going through discovery and may choose to give Elon a huge settlement out of court.

Guys, I had the opinion that as an entrepreneur, AI will only provide me opportunity. So it was a little scary to hear you two successful entrepreneurs express this fear. Thanks for the Dharmesh comment!😊
Awesome episode. Regardless of the success of the lawsuit, clearly a major wee guy move from Sam Altman to bail on the original spirit and mission of OpenAI and sell out to Microsoft.
I just read that Sam Altman owns 8.7 percent of Reddit, worth 413m at the expected ipo price.
Guys. Relax.
This isn't any different than when the steam engine was invented, or other major steps that changed the job market.
We all have jobs again, and though this might be such a big change that it will take some years to overcome, everything will work out yet again.

I find it hilarious that people believe Elon when he says he's going to make humanoid robots, but Tesla still doesn't have FSD
I love me some business but the idea of taking away another human interaction at a restaurant (no matter how small) is another push to a soulless society. Also, greatest pod ever.....Lucky you..... I will subscribe

Great show. Re: ai, it's the beginning of the end as we know it

If you’re turning over 90% in a warehouse, you’re abusing labor laws and/or not paying enough.
Agreed, people don’t leave jobs that fast if they either enjoy it or are being compensated fairly. There are much worse jobs with lower turnover numbers
@@troywissenbach6242like what?
That's exactly what it is. Turnover of that amount means he's hiring illegals or paying them minimum wage.
@@blackhax36 This insane turnover is prevalent in every country. They all treat their warehouse operative like pos. It's not just Warehouse workers, but majority of skilled labours are treated with contempt; despite being the backbone of all these ecommerce. After HGV/Truck drivers, it's the key workers (nurses, electrician, plumbers etc)...
BOOM! 💥
it will be very baaad! 😅
These guys despite being cockroaches are much better than those billionaires on All-in podcast. You can trust these guys to give unbiased opinion.
I take every single thing that they say with a pint of salt; MFM & All-In
As a long time listener can I just say how annoying it is when you mention the “gentleman’s agreement” as doing something for you guys to repay the time you take to make the podcast but then increasing plug your other businesses. Is that not payment enough lol
