It's rare that a podcast is worth listening to in it's entirety - let alone multiple times over. This is one of those podcasts.
Shaan is the Indian Shakespeare
ShaanSpeare
Puri Gold
He sounds American
@@aathivive most likely is. he feels like somebody who was born and grew up there. nothing about him feels Indian except for his looks and name ofc lol
Is he Kalidas..😅😂
I listened to the original interview but here I am listening to it again 😊👌
I teach Storytelling at the Dallas Comedy Club and SMU. This is a master class. Thank you!
That’s awesome. Pony Up!
Is your class available online?
Hi Paul- the classes are only available in person at SMU or the DCC
i took the Intention + Obstacle and ABT frameworks from some podcasts you were a guest on and combined them with my initial state -> guide -> final state framework and man my story has improved 10x!
Do you want to practice storytelling? I would love to do it with you.I myself want to improve.
Write like you talk is GOLD.......its so much more authentic, especially for the people who know you personally. When they read your writing, they can hear you reading it to them.
This couldn't have come out at a better time. Currently writing my speech for my wedding!
😂
Don't be nervous. Thank you 😊 for ❤️ and your cooperation.
Hope it goes well!
You read my mind, I was JUST looking up storytelling books last night! Thank you 🙏
"I don't want to toot my own horn. But Beep Beep." has got to go down as one of Shaan's most iconic quotes 🤣
I'm only half way through this and I already know that I'm going to be listening to it again. This was amazing Shaan, so much wisdom and insight packed into this podcast. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us!
Shaan is my favorite person on the internet. Bar none 💪🏻
I’m ⅓ in and I’ve already picked up so many knowledge gems!
And to think: I’ve already watched this interview before, and I’m STILL learning more.
Great stuff Shaan 👏
Thanks for making the pods! I personally learned a LOT from you.
"Intention Obstacle" this blows my mind
32:37 origin stories
I couldn’t pitch or hit to the left side of the field but I wanted to make the majors.
I was small forgotten and out of baseball. I had hung up my cleats. Then my father came up with an idea that would help all of baseball.
I tried the thing and was able to hit major league level.
I had a choice to make…
I could either hop back in and restart my game or I could build the thing that helps other kids hit past the lonely island in the middle of the diamond.
So I chose the ladder( building the thing)
Loved this episode so much, I rewatched on your channel! Great work 👏🏽 🎯
Excellent masterclass.
So nice I had to watch it twice on 2 different channels!
As a Physician and Content creator, I use storytellling to bridge the gap between audiences. It's a powerful tool in the kit
Sean insights on storytelling are invaluable. 📖 Mastering this art can dramatically enhance how we connect and communicate, making our messages not only heard but felt and remembered.
the original upload appeared in my feed about a month ago. i've rewatched the episode about 4x now and still learn something new everytime
What *exactly* have you learned/learnt?
This is a great and informative interview. Keep the bangers coming!!!
How does this not have more views?! This is gold. I’m having my high schooler listen to it that is passionate about writing
29:15 a story is a 5 second moments of change
[he’s a player and can’t settle down, he hits rock bottom and meets the girl, he settles down]
8:30 worship at the alter of intention and obstacle
Intention is the want and drive and the emotion they want to feel
Obstacle is the thing that gets in the way
This was great. Worth a rewatch.
Love the longer episodes 🔥🔥 best podcast hands down
nice can’t wait to see this!
"a story is a change, not a timeline of events"
2nd time, listening and taking notes. Gold!
This ☝️
Sending love from Lausanne, Switzerland
This was awesome Shaan
The trajectory Shaan has been recently is freaking awesome.
43:43 a story is just change
Stepping into the story is how much you want to reveal how the change came to be
Can you please share a link to that PDF of your principles that David mentioned?
I saw this on his channel and I was like “thank you UA-cam algorithm gods”
34:01 signature stories
Origin story
Right of passage story
Mission story
Vision story
Legacy story
41:37 your not saying what happened
Your zooming into moments that you felt with relatable visual audible cues that aid the emotion
42:00 I remember he said this to me and I’ll never forget these three words…
I remember looking around and… there was nobody else there…
I remember hearing…
I remember seeing…
I remember sensing…
the only episode I needed
6:40 enthusiasm in the thing your doing and things that have value but the people are missing
@Shaan is the -loved the "beep, beep" LOL
*Distribution ==> Rhodium! All this content is highly valuable, thank you guys! "Pretty SMART, kind of funny"... FTW! 🥰
Thank you!
27:58 So… every great story needs stakes:
Stakes come from emotions
What emotion is on the line.
The other person will feel a certain way
He’s trying to impress his mom
His hosting story about veggies his ego was on the line and his mom would have been embarrassed because he couldn’t nail the brussels sprouts
38:37 thrown in antidotes that support the intention or obstacle
Antidotes are quick rabbits holes stories, or details that support
just two amazing guys geeking out on each other 💪😂
I haven't even watched yet and I know it's gonna be my favorite episode yet
Wait it's just a repost of that same video on other guys channel (which I already watched twice) but hey it is still my fav so I'll watch the third rep on mfm
Goddamn, boys! Give us a day or two to digest the last pod!
You really should be proud of this. You demonstrated and taught this so well that even a low level IQ guy like me can level up in all aspects of the world. Appreciate you!
14:38 comedy is a low status game that are formed in vulnerability and surprise
I came across a definition of the "Golden Mean" once. It was defined as the narrow path between two seemingly opposing virtues.
24:00 when intelligence contest there is an opportunity for a story teller
This is Shaan working to exponentialize his success in this interview just as he noticed Logan Paul taking advantage of that prime meme and turning it into cutout boards in a previous episode. practice what you preach ❤
24:00 here how I think it’s going to go down, everyone thinks Y I think X
If it looks like homework (everyone hates homework)
It probably is a educational piece not a story
bookmarked this bad boy
This is gold 😉😉😉
3:09 build a stack of material that people who want to know you can get to know you leaving them saying Your the man
What Chrome extension are you using to tell that a video is 11 times more popular then previous videos?
19:00 what is the level of buying for audience?
Cold audience is quick
Known audience is relaxed
master class in seconds: what matters in storytelling is; Intention and obstacle
@Shaan a masterclass on ecom is due!!
Shaan’s clubhouse tweet is his Lauryn Hill’s ‘98 album
17:15 forget the words what are you trying to say?
What makes it interesting?
Where did it start?
What’s the end?
That is the outline
"I don't want to toot my horn" - he should have pulled out a tuba after that ;)
15:56 write like you talk(no duh)
Use these () to break the fourth wall
Great great great!! Can yall just take my money already?? 😂😂
Please add a link to the letters to the son in the description!
40:34 what triggered the turnaround
What are the resistance your ran into.
Pixar story rule x. The hero doesn’t have to win the audience will love him because how hard he tried
Make it feel real
21:05 hooks overrated
Framing is underrated
Framing is how box in the idea and connect two or more things , this creates impact (like what Dave chapel did with Netflix)
Hi bro First to comment
