    We have used the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    *100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*

      I don't have numbers for that. You would need the model, generator size and the load to evaluate that.

    Looks like it’s even more time to DITCH the grid-tied setup, and hook up the solar like a SANE person would. I just got an EB70S and a Bluetti 120w panel kit from eBay for $461.00…great unit!

      Get a 200 watt 12v normal glass solar panel. They`re much less expensive and last over 30 years. Charges just the same (150 watts 8 amp limit in the Bluetti) as their overpriced embarrassment. Right now I use two cheap 100w normal glass panels connected to a parallel connector and get about 148 watts into mine. Getting two 100w is less expensive than one 200w glass panel and charges the same. I bought two folding solar panels, a 100 and 120 watt with high grade Sunpower cells and ETFE coating with useful type C PD and regular ports, for 99 bucks each. They aren`t worth hundreds of dollars unless you`re rich or absolutely have to have a more portable option. Be sure if you do buy portable panels that they have several USB ports because it`s like having a wall charger and can power small fans and several types of battery chargers or even Onite lights in a dark camper or shed. Great for hurricane power outages.

      It can run a dorm fridge about 20-24 hours and a 5 cubic ft manual defrost chest freezer about the same. You can also run rice cookers, Dash mini griddles, Nostalgia sandwich maker, etc. Just check the wattage of your cooker. You can also heat water with a 600 watt immersion bucket water heater if you fill half or 3/4 of the way then add more to adjust temperature. I ran my electric blanket on medium high all night (about ten hours) during the Winter storm and had about half the battery left.

    Great video! Loved all those tests. I notice you have 4 output plugs on the US version, over here in England, we have 2. The version on sale here is 1000w. We've had ours now 2 weeks & we love it! To keep the bills down we've been powering a big tv, surround sound & a satbox . We have a 200w solar panel on the roof & intend to use it, even in winter. We intend to expand the system.

    Do you know how much power the inverter itself draws (not in ECO mode) is when there is no AC load connected but the inverter is on? The reason I ask because if you forget to turn off the inverter the battery will be drained, Bluetti could not tell me what the number is and the display only show the load Wattage but not the total power draw of inverter and the load. Great video.

    • @ProjectsWithDave
      @ProjectsWithDave  2 роки тому +3

      Great Question! I disassembled the unit and measured the power draw directly from the battery (assuming ECO mode is turned off) in the following conditions for you :
      Bluetti EB70S Standby Power Results:
      Assuming 650Wh of usable battery:
      0.00W - No display; No AC Power; No DC Power = Battery life very long, limited only by battery chemistry..
      1.27W - *Display only* ; No AC Power; No DC Power = Battery life very long, since display only stays on for a few seconds...
      2.47W - No display; No AC Power; *DC Standby Power* = Battery life = 263hr or 10.9days
      14.82W - No display; *AC Standby Power* ; No DC Power = Battery life = 43.9hr or 1.8 days
      16.40W - No display; *AC Standby Power; DC Standby Power* = Battery life = 39.6hr or 1.7 Days

      Unfortunately I have too many projects going on to add that at the moment. I almost included it in the original video, but I ran out of time and it was already a pretty long video. The inverter uses a great deal of energy. Running my 5 cubic ft freezer a watt meter shows I only get 500 watt hour from my Bluetti before battery is dead. Sometimes more, sometimes less. The inverter is only about 80% efficient so it uses a lot. Leave it on and the battery is dead in a couple days so I think it`s using at least 15 to 25 watts. It varies a lot and it makes no sense. One time I got only 440 wh and another time 620. Impossible to predict. They sent me another one free and it was the same.

    One of the first videos that has made sense on this topic for me. Thank you. Question: we are new to RV's and we have a 2021 motorhome that has 12 volt 1000 inverter power to our two plugs in's by our bed. We are cpap users and looking for that off grid option without having to do a complete solar installation. What would be your thoughts for a back up battery for a few days of off grid operation? We will be purchasing 2 new batteries prior to heading out this spring but still want to ensure we have sufficient for 2-3 days operation of our basic rv items that on the 12 volt system as well our cpap machines. Thanks much your advice. Really appreciate.

    • @ProjectsWithDave

      Thanks for the suggestion! The batteries would be very expensive for that concept. The average EV uses 0.346kWh/mile, so for 50mi round trip that is 17.3kWh. You would need a server rack of 4, 48V EG4-LifePower4 Lithium Batteries with a 5.12kWh capacity together totaling 20.48kWh to accomplish that 50mi range with some margin. At $1,500 each that would be $6,000 just for the batteries. You can pre order them here: signaturesolar.com/eg4-lifepower4-lithium-battery-48v-100ah/?ref=SALE

      That is a frustrating thing about the entry level Bluetti power stations. If you are using AC you can plug a watt meter in to the power station and your device into the meter. It will give you a good idea of how much is used. You can pick them up on Amazon here: amzn.to/3UF6swM
      For the DC side you can use a USB monitor like this one: amzn.to/3xPHQYz
      For the higher current DC plugs you need to make some plugs and attach them to this device: amzn.to/3Sxymcg

    I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.. so.. question.. My wife uses a CPAP.. I may also have to use one.. not sure yet. From what I understand.. best way is to use it on DC vs AC as the inverter uses power. So, her CPAP apparently draws 6.67A at 12 VDC. IF I have to start using a machine that would be over 13aDC.. It seems most of these units have about a 10max at 12vDC... Thoughts?

    • @ProjectsWithDave
      @ProjectsWithDave  2 роки тому

      Your right, the AC output is more powerful, but it also consumes more standby power. My testing shows the total usable battery capacity with the AC output is 0.613kWh vs 0.654kWh with the DC output. However as long as you don't need more than 0.613kWh before charging you should be fine. You can confirm your actual usage by connecting your CPAP to a watt meter for the night and measuring the actual consumption. You can get one on Amazon here: amzn.to/38rdW3i
      If the total usage for the night is 0.6kWh or less you should be fine to use the AC plug instead. Hopefully it's less than 0.5kWh so you have some margin.

      I can't say for sure, my smallest microwave is 950W and even though the inverter doesn't shutdown, the microwave must not be getting sufficient power, it makes strange noises and doesn't run properly. Sorry, I can't answer that one with confidence, it is probably pushing it.

    Excellent video - thanks very much! I am particularly interested in the Vitamix, since my partner has an eating issue and needs to use the Vitamin daily. The Bluetti EB70 appears to be a possible answer for the times when we go away in our campervan. Did you find out why the 'short' issue occurred. Did you have to keep the power level down to less than 300W? Is the short bad for the battery pack?

    • @ProjectsWithDave
      @ProjectsWithDave  2 роки тому +1

      If I had to guess, I would say the short error was a result of electrical noise from the motor. The battery shut off when the error happened to protect the circuitry for the express purpose of preventing damage to the battery pack. I ran it again with no issues, so I don't expect it to be a normal problem, I just happened to catch it on video. The inverter can handle over 800W so you could push it harder than I did. I imagine if you try and blend thick ice-cream or something very heavy it would be outside the limits of the 800W max, but most things should be fine.

      Hi again, My EB70 arrived and we used it today with the Vitamix. My partner has problems eating and the Vitamix is really important to her, especially for her very nutritious breakfast which contains loads of fruits, nuts, and some frozen strawberries. We watched the load increase as we turned up the speed. It started at around 300W, rose to 1000W then the EB70 cut out after a short time at 1100W - as it should. The good news is that keeping the power below 1000W still makes the smoothie perfectly good for my partner. And it can run at 1000W for an extended time with no cutting out. So the EU/UK version is ideal for our use, and will be with us on the next trip in the campervan. We had been using a Nutribullet while away, since it pulls much less power, but it is not as effective as the Vitamix. Thanks so much for your video again - it gave me the confidence to purchase the EB70. Jeff

    Good review except your DC test showed 12.9V at 3.69A which is 47 Watts ? Most cars have a 12 V outlet in the rear of the car. Portable panels don't achieve the claimed output power unless you get it 100% flat and angled at the sun correctly and the Bluetti needs to be out of the sun as that heats the batteries inside the unit.

    • @ProjectsWithDave
      @ProjectsWithDave  2 роки тому

      The Bluetti 200W panels will never achieve 200W with the EB70S because the MPPT is current limited. You're right, the Bluetti should not be in the sun, I only had it there temporally for video purposes. Which DC test are you referring to? Car charging or DC output test?

      Your particular fridge must have a very high inrush current. Even though you are only seeing 450W if you use an inrush meter you would see it is drawing a much higher current to start the motor. There is no way to know that without measuring it directly with a meter like this one: KAIWEETS HT208D Inrush Clamp Meter; amzn.to/3A549cV
      Even then, you have to know what you are doing, with AC connections you have to isolate one conductor to clamp around or you will get a reading of 0 due to the opposing phase of each conductor.

      I believe the "short" error is intended to indicate a wiring issue with your device that is causing a short circuit. In my video I got the "short" error on a blender, but I think that was due to noise in the brushes for the motor. It could also be that the initial load to start up the AC unit far exceeds the power station capacity and it is reading that as a short. AC units have a very high startup current draw.

      A 50" LED TV consumes about 100W, XBox can be anywhere from 25W to 220W, and a modem averages around 10W. If you take the worst case of these it would combine to 330Watts continuous. Multiplied by 24 hours that would be 7.9kWh. However, I doubt anyone is running their Xbox maxed out 24hours in a day... or maybe they are 😀. The EB70S could run your setup, but only for 2 hours without solar input. With solar input from one 180W panel (like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZFbKtGSkhsE/v-deo.html ), that would extend the operating time to about 5.5 hours on a sunny day. You would need something much larger with more solar input like the BLUETTI AC300 with additional battery packs like this one: shrsl.com/3kc2v

      Not all appliance rated at 1500W require their full rated power in every mode. For instance a blender will use much less than it's rated power to make a smoothie, but may draw much closer to its rated power to turn peanuts into peanut butter. You can see from the toaster in the video, it's rated at 1600W, but by using only 2 of the 4 slots, it can be run with the 800W inverter. The reason the hot plate doesn't work even on a low setting is that it uses a type of pulse with modulation, full power on, then off for short periods of time instead of just reducing the power. It's not rocket science, but the label isn't the whole story. : )

      The issue is the 200W panel is made for use with any charge controller in the 12V to 28V range. The EB70S charge controller simply isn't powerful enough to make full use of the available current under max sunlight conditions resulting in some clipping. However under lower light conditions there is no clipping. It's not a bad thing to have more available PV than your charge controller can make use of in max sunlight.
