The more research I do, the more I get tangled. For the "tell us about yourself," I've been told to not speak too much about education and job experience because they can see that on a resume. Instead, talk about family, what you like to do, etc., because they want to know if they want to live with you. I'm taking a little bit of everything. THANK YOU for taking the time and effort to help us out!
Excellent Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (do a google search)? It is a good one off guide for firefighter interview tips without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my GF finally got cool results with it.

I have a question and want to know if this is "cheap." My local department is a "fire district." I looked up the differences, and really still don't understand the difference between a fire department and a fire district (maybe you can do a video on it?). They aren't civil service, and are hurting for people DESPERATELY! I gave them a call and the said apply, I'll definitely get hired according to their chief. He said I have to start out as part time for a year all whilst getting EMT certified. After that year, if I'm good and EMT certified, they'll send me to the fire academy. Once I pass, I become full-time. He then said if I don't like the fire district because it isn't a fire department (like I said, I still don't know the difference even after looking it up. Maybe you can make a video?), I can transfer to my "dream" department with ease - no civil service test needed. Just go to a department with my fire academy certification, my department as recommendations, and present them with my experience, then apparently I'll most likely get hired? Any truth to this/is this a cheap way of going about it? Thanks for any tips, advice, and info! Also, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this Ted Talk if you do! I truly appreciate it, man! Keep up the great videos and content, it truly helps!
@@MrDanieldennett I didn't get the Chiefs interview but it was a great learning experience. No one here gets it their first time.. It's one of the most competitive departments in the country but maybe next time. At least now I kind of know what to expect.
@@MrDanieldennett I interviewed for a different department and made it to the Chiefs interview. It's this Thursday. I felt a lot more relaxed after getting my first interview out of the way.
What is your opinion on writing down a couple key words to help me remember a question during an interview? I failed my firefighter interview and was asked a really long 3 part question. I asked if he could repeat the question once but it was so long and wordy I still had a difficult time answering and remembering all 3 parts. Didn’t feel comfortable to ask him to repeat the question a third time. What if next time I jot a couple words down to help me remember? Is this a bad idea? Great vids btw they help so much!
Thanks for the compliment on the videos, glad you find them helpful! I don't think it's a bad idea at all. It's completely understandable if they ask you a long question, that you write some notes down.

Thank you for your videos. The are greatly helpful. You were able to work 2 jobs and still pursue your career as a firefighter?
If there's a will, there's a way.
I have my first interview on Monday i'm nervous as hell especially being an introvert lol
