❤ Ever wonder if somewhere someone made a soundtrack of your life just for you? I think Hisaishi-san was that composer to Miyazaki Hayao-kun. What a beautiful collab, he understands the man, musically.
i watched this movie in theatres with my mom on december 10th, 2023. ever since i was born, me and my mom and I have connected over Studio ghibli. to watch the last film directed by Haiyo Miyazaki with my mama was very emotional. the second the beginning scene played, i began to sob. it was just me and my mom, no one else in my family went. this movie will definitely be a key memory in my life, i love my mom so much. i am so happy i get to have Studio ghibli as a memory of her. this was the first studio gibli movie I've seen in theatres, and it was magical. i love you so much mama, i hope you know that
Miyazaki confirmed he doesn’t feel complete when he’s not working on a movie, so you don’t have to worry about this movie being his last. Also having ghibli ideas a core memory is something I can relate to because I’ve been watching these since I was young ❤
@rumicfan4ever42 im so happy to hear that it probably wont be his last. i cannot wait for it to come out for purchase, it definitely has a very special place in my heart
Я очень люблю аниме от Миядзаки и это аниме было первым которое я посмотрел в кинотеатре, это было 25 января в мой день рождения, и я был очень удивлён полупустому залу.
I just finished watching this film. It is such a beautiful film. Simple yet deep. It goes along with *Spirited Away* , which I also love. Studio Ghibli always have beautiful piano compositions as OST.
I remembered watching a documentary about Hayao Miyazaki the other day and he talked a lot about the uncertainty of Studio Ghibli's future due to not having a successor. To me, I don't feel sad if Studio Ghibli closes it's doors because they have brought us so many memories of amazing films. But what makes the soundtrack to "The Boy and the Heron" truly meaningful is I think it's Miyazaki saying "I know that my time is coming to a close and I'm okay with that. I can accept my kids can have a normal life. I can acknowledge that I have built a remarkable and memorable legacy and I will go out with a bang." Miyazaki always knows how to make each film personal and he has something to say. Even though we know this is not actually his last film, Miyazaki will hopefully leave this world doing what he loves and the world will remember him forever.
definitely. i think with " how do you live", Hayao Miyazaki once again put his whole life, past and future condensed into a single beautiful monolith ( like the ancient volcanic rock that was full of magma hanging above great grandpa in the film) for me it's about how to let go of a longing to keep something alive after you're gone. every genius worries about what happened to the world, to art, to their own works, to the future... after they are gone. but he is also giving himself peace and comfort in the fact that he had to let go. if he is no longer there he has to let it go. the most beautiful thing for me is that the boy, even though he chose to not follow the old man, still remembers all the dreams and adventures the old man built for him to experience. that is also the message that maybe even Hayao Miyazaki don't intend. but it is an arrow straight through my heart that even if the boy will choose and build his own future, independent of what comes before him, he still has all the memories of living through all this beautiful sensory sensations and dream like harmony of nature, and what he will do with his life is up to him. i think it is not true that after one dies the castle collapses. people are meant to die. but ideas live on forever. that's why we create, that's why we sacrifice everything for dreams, ideas, and to build so that it could exist. Hayao Miyazaki just keep getting better and better at translating, transcribing and expressing his emotions, ideas and thoughts. he truly has unlimited potentials and never-ending creativity. he has no limits, and he has been fearless and do whatever the hell he wants. it was his fate to be unrivaled, unmatched by everything. long live art.
Yooo I thought I was the only one... I felt like either this movie was inspired by Zelda or the other way around lol... Either way i really liked that about the movie
Самая слабая из всех работ Хисаиси. Нету мелодии, мелодического рисунка, всё звучит как случайные маски краской на холсте,за которыми общая картина не вырисовывается. Больше похоже на импровизацию... Неужели мастер списался?

Joe Hisaishi is the missing puzzle piece to studio Ghibli
He gives a magic touch to all Miyazaki works ❤
I guess they don’t know Ghibli very well.

3:05 thanks for syncing the piano keys to the heron's animations. You didnt need to do that but you've done us a great service 🙏 (i let out a giggle)
The soundtrack is so perfect.
Just watched it two days ago and its already a classic. The sudden end to the story was so ghibli of them 😂
Inspired by his minimal works, the entire soundtrack is the masterpiece of Hisaishi
( Song for prayer was released since 2015 in minima rhythm II )
Thanks for the information, I did not know about "Song for Prayer".
