You have inspired me with these “Old Radio Night” videos. Down here in the Florida Keys I have an antenna plugged into my old Uniden Washington but I never hear anything. I think CB radio is kind of dead in The Keys. Can’t wait to retire and leave here. When I get settled in after I retire, I’ll put up some antennas and dig out some of my old CBs and see if I can start up an “Old Radio Night” in my area.
The summer skip season is approaching. You should start hearing more signals via skip starting in late April. The skip will be wide open by Memorial Day Weekend, and then it will die back down in mid August. It will be fun while it last.
The 980 SSB is the best Legal AM/SSB CB Radio since the Cobra 148 GTL. It looks very nice as well and is loaded with features and other than the useless Talkback are all pretty cool. Talkback is totally useless on any radio.
and that dam beep, I use headphones alot for those weak stations, but that beep does not turn down with the volume, and in the headphones it will take the ears right out of you.

I was in there calling for you.The skip was rolling south but just didnt quite line up for us in NW Pennsylvania.
just pull the paper filter out of the stock mic, and your good to go, ie remove the noise cancel
