You should find, or write, some words to "March Past Of The Kitchen Utensils" by RVW. Might be good for a melodica. Can't ever imagine Vaughan Williams scoring for a banjo, though!
Gosh- wasn’t this played in “Toytown” , the (very) old BBC radio Children’s Hour programme ? ( and I haven’t looked it up yet , so could be wrong) , but you make it unforgettable all over again.
Perhaps Scott Joplin was the inspiration for this march. Matt mentioned the pianistic arrangement and Patricia cited the “not fast” tempo marking which was indicative of a fair number of Joplin rags.
So much fun! A great way to start the day. 🤩 Loved the arrangement with all the instruments (I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the melodica). My research habit led me to look up Leon Jessel before I forgot to… definitely a mistake. 😔
@wendyhoadley9236 yes as soon as I saw the dates I knew it wasn't going to be a nice story at all. I do wonder if his operettas get revivals at all? Operettas are so often unjustly neglected.
Glad you loved the instruments. Our uploads from 2020 and 2021 certainly featured a wider array of those! So have a scroll back to see what you can find
Well done, once again, as always !!! Good volume balance from both voice and instruments. This song always reminds me of watching Stan and Ollie in "The March of the Wooden Soldiers" (even though it wasn't used in the film). Best Wishes for continuing success in 2025 !!!!
Can we assume that it was not expected that anyone would watch the final few seconds of your broadcast, OR were you unaware that the outburst of frustration was actually recorded ... ?
HA! I knew there was SOMETHING I had to do. Haha I am not even going to watch. I just went in with the UA-cam editor and cut it off! Hope neither of us swore? Thanks for the heads-up! And extra marks for staying to the end.
@@patriciahammondsongs Your decorum was faultless, however, your associate did, in fact, swear three times in his frustration with the recording equipment.
@@mattredman98 I see, with some relief, that an additional edit was given to the broadcast. One should always assume that any mic is live, and conduct oneself accordingly.

Oh wow the parade song is so well sung! Expert performance! Suits you so well.
@sieglinde553 thank you soooo much! We had the request before Christmas but I'm glad we waited because the New Year needs the cheer of this song!

@@johnmcmicking395 ah! And wonderful connection there in that the text here was written by the same hand as did Trail of the Lonesome Pine!
