BMW bunch of knobs, why is this not on the M3 as standard? it whispers normally, sounds good but you have to get it into a tunnel before u can hear it which is annoying! why are they selling "M performance gear" to put OOONNNN an M car?!?!?! when i pay for an M3 i dont expect for better stuff to come out after....marketing wankers!
+hattybums Well the reason is that some M3 owners actually like it when the car is only loud at full throttle and high revs. I'm one of those. For two reasons. 1. I like an engine that makes only the noise that is necessary and cruising at low revs really doesn't require much power and therefore noise. It is subtle! 2. I couldn' take my family anywhere if the exhaust noise was too loud. But with the stock exhaust nobody complains and the sound is still really nice. The new M4 in Sport mode was actually not very appreciated at least not over a longer period of time. But don't be too disappointed the stock exhaust is still an absolut beast under full load. On the Autobahn people get out of your way because they can hear you accelerating. And having witnessed several fly-by's of V8 M3's (on the Autobahn but also when standing still) trust me when I say this: You will goose bumps. It sounds fucking awesome!
You are absolutely right hattyburns, BMW has gone to marketing the ///M brand to non-M cars. I own an E92 M3 and BMW is taking us for fools to try to sell us an M performance exhaust, it should have been a default equipment on the M3 at no extra cost or a 'delete' option. it should have been part of the standard M3 configuration. But it wasn't, it was a full charge option (they sold this exhaust for $5,999 for 4 years and it is only a muffler, not a full exhaust !). Many M3 owners agree about this. On the other hand the stock exhaust is good and the difference in sound isn't big. But yeah i loved bmw before buying the car and i hate bmw now as a company. I still love the car but not a chance i will buy made in germany ever again.
Great comparison video. This video actually convinced me to get the inconel exhaust myself. I honestly feel the exhaust sounds better while your driving it and going through the gears. No regrets!
it's just the muffler everything else is stock (still has primary and secondary cats). That is what happens when your engine is a real naturally aspirated high revving V8 (no turbo!!). You can hear how this car sounds with test pipes in addition to this muffler on other videos.
But the m3's torque curve is a thing of beauty. BMW may have been able to squeeze out a few more lb/ft. @ peak torque (3900 RPM) but it would ruin how linear our delivery is and would make it harder to modulate on a track environment. Think about it: would you want a high-revving car that feels nice @ 3900 rpm but started 'dying' after. I would rather have a car that is geared a bit shorter and feels the same 'strength' throughout the rev range.
Ok, so your daddies 535 car has more torque. How will that help you feel better when anyone in an M3 easily outruns your daddies car with you in the child seat?

Oh quit complaining, it's not like you're gonna own an E92 M3 anyways.

When you grow up and start driving to work and back every day you'll understand the importance of a quiet exhaust. Not every drive is at 10/10ths

And the stock is always to best.
by far the best legal exhaust you can buy without getting a ticket.

I chose not to buy it, and i agree it sounds better but the price is crazy.
Great match for the M3. Zero drone and ton's of character.
Funny thing is, if he used less gas, he would probably use more trying to listen to the exhausts since they sound so good. lol
Quite the sound, you did great.
What kind of exhaust please
Very nice sound ..is that from dealer or some where else ??
Hello.
I was wondering: did you change the whole system or just the rear muffler?
Thanks for letting us know.
it's just the muffler everything else is stock (still has primary and secondary cats). That is what happens when your engine is a real naturally aspirated high revving V8 (no turbo!!). You can hear how this car sounds with test pipes in addition to this muffler on other videos.
Did you change the exhaust system or just the tailpipes?
muffler only.
Sounds amazing!!
Much better
Beast!
Did this increase horse power? Do you use less gas or more gas now?
no it's only a muffler, search for full exhaust system on this car like akrapovic, you get +20hp
good lord...
crack
no more they fixed the design.
yes...4-5 HP
actually.. none.
no
Almost sounds like a mustang
mustang sounds like a tuned farmer's tractor, this sounds like a race car.
Wow m3 is a joke, 295 pond feet of torque, that's a joke for a V8, my dads 535 has more toque than the m3
If you want torque, go buy a Camaro or an AMG then.

So based on this logic, the fastest car in the world would be a 335d with it's whopping 425 ft-lbs of torque?
Ok, so your daddies 535 car has more torque. How will that help you feel better when anyone in an M3 easily outruns your daddies car with you in the child seat?
