The coolest thing was they played back to back dates at Market Square Arena a couple of days after the 4th of July. People actually brought fireworks into MSA and lit them inside. Crazy times.

This was the first single off of the album '1984' which came out in 1984. This was also the beginning of Van Halen moving away from strictly guitar-based rock/metal and into more instrumentation like the electronic keyboards. Eddie Van Halen was one of my heroes growing up in the 1980s and I really wanted to play guitar like him...and I have very little talent for the instrument. But I got REALLY good at shredding on air guitar every time a Van Halen song played on the radio, or a Van Halen video was on MTV (back when MTV meant MUSIC Television). I am still mourning Eddie's loss. Thanks for playing this one! Another good Van Halen song to try..."Dreams" from the album '5150', the first album Van Halen did without David Lee Roth on vocals and Sammy Hagar on vocals.

They were so charismatic especially David, he was different than every other front men out there. When I heard Eddie had passed away recently it felt like a true loss. First time I heard this song, I was like 8 maybe 9. But it's one of those tunes that sticks in yer psyche. Like Ice Cube "Good Day", or "Parting Glass" by every Irish band ever.

I love Van Halen. My favorite is probably dance the night away from 1979. It's when I first heard Van Halen

I gotta say, i have watched sooo many of your reaction videos, and its apparent that you get very excited by the guitar solos and the way they play electric guitars. might i suggest that you look into getting one and taking lessons? I truly think you would gain so much more appreciation for music of all kinds and it will make you so happy!

the drum kit is regular bass drums and rototoms, where the pitch changed if you rotate the head. As far as i know it was just for the video, never seen any live footage of Alex touring this kit.

As a 45 year old watching this now it amazes me how as a young kid I never questioned the rock star fashion, hair and makeup. It's ridiculous looking to me now, but so appropriate back then.
