You don't realize how serious business this is getting strapped into a nitromethane rocket until I see how methodical and serious your team is getting ready for a run, and then the last minute hand shake before you go really hit me.
I have a lot of admiration for Clay, his crew, and his sponsors. I started my 20 year over the road truck career with Werner and was grateful for the opportunity given to me by C.L. and his sons, especially Greg who I learned a lot from about being a safe and reliable driver. Well done.
Please convey to Mr Ware, our great appreciation for permitting us to come along during test week. . . AND to have the attempt to dyno the TF dragster!
@@mafia631he is asking clay to say thank you the the boss man for letting clay, Brent and cleetus try to dyno the car aswell as letting them film the testing and other behind the scenes stuff.... very simple to see what he was saying g in his comment 🤦🏻♂️
For reference: Mike Salinas' 300mph to the 1/8 pass was .842 to 60' and 2.091 to 330. 2.936 at 300.80. I firmly believe that Clay would have been the second person ever to 300 in the 1/8 mile had he stuck with it. That car was aggressive as all shit though. .828 60' is absolutely unheard of. The rest of that timeslip would have been absolutely incredible.
Thanks for the info. New top fuel watcher here from way overseas. Something puzzles me. Can you explain how the cars only accelerate another 30mph or so through the second half of the track?
@@HighMaintenancePS The cars are already moving so fast that they cover the back half of the track (660 feet to 1000 feet) in well under a second. If they were still racing to the quarter mile, we would have seen 340 in 2016 when Robert Hight went 337.66 in Topeka.
I just found you because of Cleetus and 1320 and I've got to say that you are one hell of a good guy. I will be subscribing and watching all of your videos because you are so positive. Good luck this year and I will be rooting for you and your team.
I absolutely love and appreciate all the behind the scenes workings! Clay, you and your team never cease to amaze me with the passion and genuine-ness you all exude!
I absolutely love your enthusiasm. It was actually emotional seeing you getting strapped in. So cool when the guy gave you his hand to grab at the end of tighten your belts up.
That's hand grab right before the pass... That's intense. My anxiety went up just watching the strap in process. Great stuff guys! Over here from the Cleetus channel.
On board camera, WOW. Wish the team all the best this weekend, truly excited about the weekend. Keeping us up to date, would be greatly appreciated! No FloRacing here sadly.
Subbed simply because of how awesome Clay is for the racing community and making things happen for other people! Never had a "favorite" driver. Clay sure has earned that status!!
Thanks for going onto Cletus Mcfarland channel. Great content, great editing. That has to a tickle in your belly when you push down on the go fast pedal. Thanks for doing what you do. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hope you all kick some butt this year. You had a good year last year but this looks to be a great year for you and the great team you have. Jimbo knows how to make that car go.
Awesome Had to skip back a few times at 17:10. The camera mount behind the engine was sick. Seeing the flames Just hearing them in person has gtta be insane
Unbelievable numbers. Reaction time, 60 foot, 1/8 mile speed. All hard to comprehend. Also the amount of work between runs is astounding. Not for the faint of heart.
Appreciate your videos. I also like that you always seem to be having a great time, smile on your face. Nice to see Jeff Lutz enjoying some time at the track as well. Thanks again for taking us along for the ride.
I had no idea how claustrophobic it must be in the seat of that race car. It makes Clay even braver than I imagined. I especially liked the big handle @2:18 that appeared to be used for pulling the harness straps as tight as they could go. Huge respect Clay.
This is what brought me to your channel, wanting to see more of the behind the scenes of pro/top fuel racing! Your videos get better and better each time!
Probably the best in car video, with explanations, I remember seeing. Brings together much of what y’all have described previously. Seeing Clay acknowledge everyone, before getting into the car, makes me think, it’s probably part of his own mental checklist, and his recognition of the importance of everyone on the team, for the part they play. Reminded me of launching aircraft, in the military.
All I can say is that is awesome. I'm sure you will have a great year. LET'S GO!!! I see that you have gained a couple new subs in the last few days. You deserve many more.
It is worth it. The experience in real life is indescribable to someone who hasn't been. You have to live it, to understand the thumbing of these engines from hundreds of feet away of your body, breathing nitro and having up close access to a team of professionals rebuilding a hot car in 30-45 minutes.
If y’all don’t subscribe to this channel you definitely should! Thank you Cleetus for bringing him on the channel and introducing him to everyone. Clay is clearly a rad dude and gets to do, in my opinion, the best job in the world. I hope your channel only grows and grows and can’t wait to see more.
Hello Clay. That is one fast dragster. I loved the placement of the camera's some awesome footage. There's so much going on in the cockpit of that dragster in them 3 seconds it's crazy. Your dam fast in that rocket of a dragster it's unbelievable. I'm with Brent about the shock and awe of the quickness speed the hole rip. Awesome video Clay and Brent.
Clay. You said it best at the end”rocket ship”. Loved the view of your foot work. I’ve always wondered about it. Keep up the great videos and good luck this season. Always a fan. Been my driver since way back.
Watching you get ready, is like, you are getting ready to go to space. All the straps/belts/etc. Gotta be safe though. Good luck, stomp on that loud pedal and bring home the money. Love the new camera angles. Really shows, just how busy you are, during a run. Is it me, or can you see the ground from the cockpit?
Watching from New Zealand. This is a real privelage to watch this footage from right inside the team. Seeing the organisation, teamwork and the positive attitudes is amazing. So slick and so incredible what these guys achieve. Clay is fantastic. Everything you might imagine a top fuel driver to be and more. Awesome leadership.

I just love the family atmosphere that Clay has with his group! It makes working with him in that very serious position easier to concentrate on everyone's task at hand. How he make sure he high fives everyone before the run! He's a great ole country boy with a heart of gold!
I used to go to 8 or 9 events a year around the country when Clay and his Werner car started bumping heads in the NHRA TF class. I have always admired the passion he's had for this sport, and I have never seen a guy possibly smile more than he doesn't like Clay. Very positive dude and we need more like him 👍
