wait what, the first girl said she learned the basic grammar and 'basic' 5-10 thousand words in one week..? i mean her accent is pretty perfect so maybe she really is just a genius...
I think she simplified it a bit too much to keep the answer short for the camera. It sounds like she crammed the alphabet first, then crammed grammar for a week, and then focused on the most common words (but she doesn't say how long or how). It would be interesting if she gave a detailed how to video while explaining more what she actually did. I doubt she learned all the grammar in a week but rather after cramming it for a week she started immersing probably while keeping an eye out for the most common words. But she's a natural at this and often it's hard for people like that to break it down for us mortals.
I was already watching variety shows and I started studying korean when I already understood some stuff without subtitles so it wasn’t completely new to me but I didn’t know how to read or write or grammar or even common words so I started with Hangeul and it was so much easier than it looked and then for one week I was learning common words (just googled 10000 common korean words and there was a page that led me to TOPIK study materials which had elementary intermediate and advanced word documents) and I recognized many words so I tried incorporating grammar right away. The whole thing took me around a week (+2 days maybe not exactly a week week) but trust me I have crazy episodes like that sometimes 😅 I get hooked up on something so much that I basically don’t care about anything else… that happened with korean and during that one week I got completely possessed, skipped school, didn’t sleep, sticky notes all over the house, mumbling to myself 😅 my mum had to skip work and forcefully feed me cos i didn’t even eat and she thought I was crazy (fair enough) 🤣🤣 worked out well in the end but I feel like I was possessed for a week lol 🤣🤣🤣 obviously you can’t learn the whole language in one week but with korean it’s possible to get the right foundation and then you can build up on that ^^ after that I started a job at a Korean travel agency and was lucky enough to practice my skills irl so I guess luck played a big part too 😵💫 I have a video about this on my channel so you can check it out for all the details and tips 🥰

My two best friends are from South Korean so I became really interested in the language right away. I speak Spanish as well and I did notice that the pronunciation of Spanish vowels and Korean vowels are exactly the same, same with the pronunciation of some consonants. I started learning Korean couple months ago on my own through k-dramas and now I can pick up to 30 % of the conversation without reading the subtitles. Korean is a language that is pretty straightforward. So… to my Spanish speaking people, if you can learn Korean from a Spanish speaking person do so, because you will pick it up in a blink. Best of luck!💜
im currently learning korean at my college and might get to do a travel abroad program this summer which would be really helpful in daily speaking, since in class we only have 45 minutes of actual class practice and the rest we do self paced study.
I just started learning Korean with a tutor and it’s helped me so much. I don’t do well studying alone (aside from learning the alphabet and UA-cam), so conversations is paramount. In 2 months my Korean has already improved drastically. 저는 한국어를 공부하는 것을 즐기고, 그것이 한국어를 더 재미있고 쉽게 배울 수 있게 해준어요!
I can finally say that korean language is harder than Nihongo even though it's fewer in characters the B/P and K/G L/R and many more is so hard and confusing while Nihongo is straght up and you'll learn something new everyday with each word design for their alphabet and you'll learn the alhapet through words without worrying about roman characters
I’m currently learning English and I want to be fluent and speak without accent, but it’s very difficult to get a good understanding of the pronunciation. These women are perfect at speaking Korean!
At first, I wasn’t listening properly. I thought she meant she was from the state of Georgia in the United States. I was so confused and kept listening to her ENGLISH accent! She doesn’t sound like she is from the southern U.S at all! Of course, anything is possible with people born in America so you don’t have to grow up with a regional accent! 🤣 My mistake! She sounds great in both English and Korean! 😃
well honestly even if she actually is from Georgia (the country) she either studied in an international school back there or spent half of her life abroad. she most certainly doesn’t have the typical ‘georgian’ accent while speaking english, it’s actually rather hard to get rid of, and I’m saying that as a russian myself. or again maybe she is just extremely intelligent and can grasp languages easily, considering her Korean pronunciation is damn near native according to comments. girl is a genius
@@vu4677 its good for getting used to the alphabet, you can learn it pretty quickly using it but for the rest...eh. It gets really repetitive without actually progressing much in terms of the things they make you write and say. The phrases they teach you are also hella random instead of something actually conversational useful.
I'm curious how did Jerry, the host, learn Korean himself? Jerry did you study on your own, take classes, a combination of the two? You speak Korean very well.
kpop is the best marketing for the language, myself included 😆 I started learning about 4 months ago using primarily lingodeer. I try not to rush the vocab because some words are quite difficult. I think my listening comprehension is slightly better from listening to kpop daily, watching some NewJeans content. I don't practice speaking, though I might try eventually. The person who mentioned imitating a favorite person, shapes and intonation is great - I'll need to try that. I try to build in 10-20 words weekly - I've mastered maybe 130 words so far and some basic grammar concepts. I don't study intensely, but I do a daily routine of reviewing index cards, going over old lessons, and testing myself until I'm able to write down the word I have in mind in Korean rather than English. I'm about 3-4 months strong, and I'm excited to see where I'm at in another 2-3 months.
It was funny how the lady from Germany said the korean grammar is hardest. I am from Czechia and for me the grammar is much easier and cleaner than in english. I think korean is very easy to learn for czech speakers because we have similar grammar in some points. Kudos to those people, your level of korean is so impressive. I hope some day I will be there too!

As a half Korean, I have to admit that Korean people in general don’t pay any mind to foreigners and are not willing to make them feel comfortable or help them in a multitude of situations. that girl from ukraine is multilingual AF like she can definitely speak ukrainian which means she kinda knows russian too and she speaks english and korean as well literally my goals
If you want to progress in Korean you already need the basics. yes it is true that if you do not have more than 500 words or even 1000 words of vocabulary at the beginning you will not be able to speak in Korean and you need to learn the basic grammar. you also need to be able to keep a diary and write your own dialogues which will allow you to be able to hold a dialogue in Korean and you must rehearse every day which will allow you to be comfortable with the language. This is only the beginning because as you see in the Korean language there are also different levels of politeness. This will cause you some problems even if you already know the basics because you need to know the verb forms. And also be able to construct complex sentences this is the next level. With all this you will have difficulty even holding a dialogue. So, I advise you to have someone who speaks Korean with whom you can make progress in the language and above all be able to speak and practice pronunciation so as not to say stupid things.
After getting addicted to all Korean dramas I agree the Korean language is pretty. I am trying to learn it so I don’t have to read the subtitles. I don’t agree with the Korean alphabet being easy. But I just started like a couple days ago. But darn it I’m determined to
Miss Vicky's Learn Hangul 한글 (Korean Alphabet) in 30 minutes video is amazing when memorizing and understanding the structure of the consonants and vowels.
I'm 13 and I just started learning in Korean a month ago. And my goal is to go there on a scholarship and learn there. I really hope I could achieve my goal.
...The first woman learned and memorised the alphabet in 20 mins............ It's been like a week I'm practicing it and I still forget and mix up some letters 💀💀 I'm feeling so hopeless ; I'm starting to think that becoming fluent in Korean is only achievable by people naturally very good at learning languages in general... And I'm not one of them :(
@@snugsaffie Probably yes! My native language is very far from Korean so maybe it doesn’t help, plus I’ve never been good at learning any language at school etc… But I won’t give up, I try to chat with native speakers everyday and it helps
One week 5000-10000 words? Wait what? That must be wrong on her part or maybe she's like genius level. In one week maybe you learn the most common 50-100 words (and that after you absolutely master hangul). And that is if you both have the TIME and the state of mind for learning and REALLY practice. Korean is not an easy language. Especially for native speaking english people. There's sounds that simply don't transcribe well in Korean and viceversa. In addition to that, even the way they use words is not the same. Not even the order in a simple sentence is the same. I think the first girl REALLY oversimplified the process but in doing so kind of discouraged the viewers by putting unnecessary pressure on fresh students of the language. Or she was rizzing her own genius, which I doubt. I simply think she oversimplified the process and also made a mistake at the same time. Hangul might be easy to learn it as a machine. But again, you can't learn hangul in 20 minutes, never repeat it and expect to know it 2 days later. That's just machine leaning which is not good nor natural. PROPER hangul takes about 2-3 weeks for the average person to really memorize it without any additional issues. But that's just the hangul which helps you read the most basic sentences. Because reading sentences and knowing what you've just read or if you even pronounced it correctly, is a different story in itself. Whenever I hear these "you can learn hangul in just 2 hours. it's that easy" I feel like it creates these FALSE expectations for Korean language to be something you can just pick up. It isn't. You need LOTS of practice, LOTS of studying on your own (a teacher is also helpful to give you guidance and confidence and approach your mistakes) and lots of watching other people speak Korean, AS WELL AS interacting with Koreans yourself. Hence why a teacher is also nice to have if you can afford it because you will inevitably have someone to pull you into basic conversations. All in all, my comment is made not to scare people away but more so to encourage people to be REALISTIC about learning Korean. It's possible and it is a beautiful language (for me at least) but it's definitely one of the harder ones to learn. It's not Chinese but also not Spanish.
@@지민수-b2q Lmao, well maybe not "mistake mistake" but things that I would've changed to make it sound more natural. But yeah, my bf is Korean and sometimes I have to correct him on basic grammar cause he never studied Korean like we foreigners do and therefore go on feeling rather than grammatical correctness 😂
20 Minutes for the alphabet? Never. I can't believe it. Yes, it's easy but the status "learned" comes not after 20 minutes. Moreover, I don't get the time periods of the first person: - Studying for 1 week - Practicing for 1 month - After that "only" work (real life practice of course) One week for basic grammer is ok I think (depending what you are considering basic here) but 5,000 up to 10,000 words in ONE week? I can't believe this. This would imply over 700 words per day just to "learn" 5k words. Even if add the the 1 month practice to it it's still over 130 words per day. The time period seems a bit of for me here. However, her Korean is very good! Always astonishing to me how well some people can learn a language.
I’m so impressed with the interviewer and the interviewees. Fluency in multiple languages breeds trust and fosters the spirit of oneness IMO. Communication and understanding are key to a harmonious society and they’re great examples of this.

It would be interesting if she gave a detailed how to video while explaining more what she actually did. Korean is a language that is pretty straightforward. So… to my Spanish speaking people, if you can learn Korean from a Spanish speaking person do so, because you will pick it up in a blink. Best of luck!💜

As an Italian who lives in Sweden trying to learn Korean this was so useful❤ thanks
im currently learning korean at my college and might get to do a travel abroad program this summer which would be really helpful in daily speaking, since in class we only have 45 minutes of actual class practice and the rest we do self paced study.
Thanks for the video, this was really inspiring to keep studying!

My bf is Korean and I want to learn so I can speak to his family when I visit. Very motivating
Can we also appreciate that these people were also talking in English and not their native tongue? Very impressive. 👏
first 2 women were super good... almost as good as me (korean american)

It gets really repetitive without actually progressing much in terms of the things they make you write and say. The phrases they teach you are also hella random instead of something actually conversational useful.

kpop is the best marketing for the language, myself included 😆
I started learning about 4 months ago using primarily lingodeer.
Impressive Korean my omg People's English skills always amaze me.
Wish i had a power to hug people and instantly be fluent in whatever language they speak
I just left a comment saying I want to study Korean and I get this video yayyyy,

As a half Korean, I have to admit that Korean people in general don’t pay any mind to foreigners and are not willing to make them feel comfortable or help them in a multitude of situations. The ones that are really nice to foreigners are kind of rare and extreme gems. I wish you luck in learning Korean though. I’m also studying it too 😊

I have been studying korean by myself for the past 2 weeks after watching Korean tv series for months.
Beautiful language!❤❤❤
But darn it I’m determined to
it’s super easy compared to like Japanese or Chinese alphabet! you got this!
Miss Vicky's Learn Hangul 한글 (Korean Alphabet) in 30 minutes video is amazing when memorizing and understanding the structure of the consonants and vowels.

The first girl said she learnt Korean alphabet in 20 minutes. And I'm still here struggling 😔.
you can learn the alphabet in twenty minutes but you’d definitely be unable to memorize it so i wouldn’t worry about that too much.
@@RoseMari888 hi I am here from the future😂. I memorized the alphabet very well. Now I'm struggling with learning words and sentences 😂.
Damn the 2nd girl speaks real good korean
She's good but I noticed she did some basic grammar mistakes while speaking, I think her pronunciation is really good though!
@HedstromMichelle I'm a korean native speaker but I couldn't notice her mistakes 😂.
Because her bf/husband is Korean, I’ve seen her on ig
@@ABAddonfromHeLL what is her account?
20 Minutes for the alphabet? Never. I can't believe it. Yes, it's easy but the status "learned" comes not after 20 minutes.
Moreover, I don't get the time periods of the first person:
- Studying for 1 week
- Practicing for 1 month
- After that "only" work (real life practice of course)
One week for basic grammer is ok I think (depending what you are considering basic here) but 5,000 up to 10,000 words in ONE week? I can't believe this. This would imply over 700 words per day just to "learn" 5k words. Even if add the the 1 month practice to it it's still over 130 words per day. The time period seems a bit of for me here. However, her Korean is very good! Always astonishing to me how well some people can learn a language.
No one should be skipping on the 2nd girl! She was great!!!
I’m so impressed with the interviewer and the interviewees. Fluency in multiple languages breeds trust and fosters the spirit of oneness IMO. Communication and understanding are key to a harmonious society and they’re great examples of this.
