It's funny because his argument for the "industry plant" was mainly that "well everything is an industry plant" and that makes it okay apparently. What I really liked about the album was how it started out with Billie seeing herself as tough or strong in “bad guy,” being in a “crown,” and how she doesn’t like drugs on “xanny.” Then it goes to her feeling regret and saddens on “wish you were gay” and “when the party’s over.” But then it takes a step back and she sort of devolves when in “my strange addiction” were she turns into what she hated in “xanny.” She also sees herself as being a monster or terrible person on “bury a friend.” And then she breaks down and presumably dies on “listen before i go,” “i love you” and “goodbye.” I just thought that kind of evolution was really cool.

@@guythatfelloffhishorse3441 I'm still iffy on the whole meaning of the album, but the original song that contained the lyric that IS the album's title, "Bury a Friend, hints that the album is about her crazy dreams or something along those lines. I definitely think the album was sucked save for a few songs, considering the majority of the songs were incredibly mediocre with 2-dimensional lyrics. Nevertheless, the new album did not live up to the expectations I had after its predecessor's release.

I wouldn't expect from 17 years old girl to be a grown artist. But for her age - this album is really impressive. Not to mention she is amazing transfering emotions through voice, especialy in more low key, acoustic performances.

A couple of years ago on April 1st, he posted two reviews of a Planningtorock album; one being super positive, the other being super negative (may even have been a 10/10 and a 0/10). I don’t think he ever came clear about his actual opinion about that specific album. Both reviews are great though, you should look them up.

It is. Or rather, that was my interpretation as well. Maybe he misspoke or (like I did for a little while there) he misunderstood the title/lyric as “Wish you WEREN’T Gay.” Cuz that little “n’t” COMPLETELY changes the story that song tells lololol. Or maybe he read it right but thought maybe Billie is gay and wished this person was so they could be together.
I dunno, but I just wanted to let ya know that I have the same basic interpretation of the song as you and had the exact same thought when those wordthoughts spewed forth from Melonthony Fantanus’ melonhole. And I also agree with your assessment of the track’s quality. One of my favorites off the album and now one of my favorite songs period. Though “Bad Guy” is still #1 in my heart for a multitude of reasons but chiefly because it checks all the boxes for me, as it were. It’s a jam I feel course through my veins when I hear it and unleashes those wonderful brain chemicals that compel me to GIT DOOOOWN too. Especially that little instrumental “bee-boop bee-deedle-eedle dee-boop” bit that comes after she says “Duh.” Ooooooh MAN! That is my SHIT right there!
