I have the Impressionist deck and it's my absolute go to deck. I find it beautiful, deep, very very easy to connect with and no bad cards in it. I love the real beauty of those paintings from real artist and its not a digital photography manipulation. Also each card explains its own artist, inspiration and story behind it. I do find it irresistibly beautiful and a great deck to have. I would be happy to have a second copy if you don't want yours anymore.
I almost didn't buy the wild unknown because I saw it was so popular and I wanted to be a little more individualistic I guess, but I really love it and it reads really good for me. Some cards are a challenge but I'm definitely a fan :)
Ha! I’m literally going through the same thing with the Wild Unknown right now. It’s one I’ve been using this month and I’m having more and more trouble reaching for it. I’ve had mine for a few years and really did love it- but I’m just finding my connection is fading... I’ve been so on the fence with the Raven’s Prophecy because soooo many people love it, but I’ve never grabbed it for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned...it seems almost too void of expression for SOME cards. Others are beautiful and vivid, but I think the void ones are sticking out more so than the beautiful ones for me. I really enjoyed this video! I really like videos where people don’t resonate with the deck, as funny as it is, because I feel like you can really see past the bright lights and “this is so beautiful“ and can look at a deck and agree or disagree without the excitement of someone else...does that make sense?! It made sense in my head LOL
If you weren't super thrilled with the Impressionist Tarot but like that van Gogh Expressionism style, you should check out the Prisma Visions Tarot if you haven't already. It's got that "Starry Night" art style but it's much more evocative than the Impressionist Tarot looks. Also, if you line up the cards of each suit, it creates a long panoramic image, which is super cool lol
Loved hearing your thoughts on these decks - I find it so interesting how some decks work for some people but not others. I think it's a great idea to clear out decks that you do not connect with :)
I found it interesting watching this. I enjoying listening to people's experiences with decks whether they end up being keepers or not. A respectful exploration of each also. I never thought of highlighting the side of a book to make the flick through easier to each suit, what a fab idea. I can safely say I don't have specific feelings about others not vibing with a deck even if I do. It's such a personal thing after all. Also I'm not sure if I actually commented in the end but I enjoyed your deck collection vids too. Props to you for getting it all done, must have been an undertaking. I have a larger video to record and I can admit I haven't jumped at doing it straight away lol. Anyways good vid
This is how I feel about the Vice Versa deck. I love its original concept of two sides in one card. But I cannot read them like I used to. Thank god I have a sister who loves it so I gave it to her. Now I'm more gravitating towards cute and happy decks.
Late observation, but, the Shapeshifter deck has attributes traditional to the Celtic tradition. It also has extra cards. I use it more as an oracle, and just ignore the words in parentheses. It's pretty much it's own system.
I don't have any of the decks you've shown except for Tarot of a Moon Garden. Oddly, the borders don't bother me that much, although I do think they could've done without them (or borders in general) and made the images larger/crisper. I'm gonna try using this deck more this year now that I've learned pips, but in the meantime, they've been my go-to for Queens of Fate, LOL. I totally agree about TWU. The Naked Heart calls to me way more. I've gone back and forth with the Raven's Prophesy and am still holding off on it (and the Chrysalis, as you know).
Nice to know I'm not the only one with an urge to let go of decks in the beginning of the year. I wasn't able to keep the Shapeshifter or the Chrysalis myself. But I do love the Lover's Tarot but as you say it won't be used as a tarot deck. I've thought of having them framed.
I agree. The wild unknown tarot really never worked for me either. There were so many others I found I reached for, so I let it go. I guess I dare to be original. Haha
I think having read the series connected to the Raven's Prophecy Tarot might help with some of the cards? I haven't actually finished the series, but it's one that I want to eventually get my hands on all the books of, because they're so beautifully written and the story is just amazing. Anyways, the Raven's Prophecy Tarot is also on my wish list, because I think the cards are just gorgeous, but I get that it's not for everyone!
I just discovered your channel and I am so glad I did. I love your sweet, bubbly personality! My "to go" pile has almost all the same decks! And I'm moving them out for the same reasons as you are. Great video - thanks!
I am currently rehoming some decks via my Etsy shop. If they are just laying here collecting dust, someone else might love and use them. I am also buying more decks...... I'm an addict ❤️
One of these days I think I'm gonna buy a ravens prophesy that is already trimmed and edged because I don't really want to do the edging myself but I love the way it looks.
If you're interested in my copy, drop me a line at tarotwithlisa at gmail dot com -- I might be a bit slow to reply as I'll be out of town for the Northwest Tarot Symposium starting Wednesday, but I will get back asap! :)
Has anybody gotten the Star Spinner tarot and just found it a bit meh? I was very excited to get it (almost bought it as my first deck but went with The Morgan Greer instead for learning from) because of the theme, the diversity and inclusiveness, etc. But it's kind of lackluster to me... Some cards are awesome, others feel very empty. The swords suit has a lot of cards that seem to have much less effort/complexity than the rest of the deck. And it turns out I prefer having actual landscapes/scenery in the background, not just random circle shapes. Anybody had a similar experience?
I am a lot like you...I am avoiding minimalist and I need evocative art; tell the story and give something more to the court cards than one symbol. Ugh, it bugs me when air/wands are swapped. I think the Spellcasters did that, too. I have to agree with you on every single deck you've shown. I never really wanted the Wild Unknown, although I adore the Chariot and Strength cards in it. This month I'm using the Darkness of Light, which I love the artwork of, but it isn't completely connecting. The month is early, so we'll see... Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy these anti-hauls and leaving collection videos in addition to your others.
I would like to get the Impressionist tarot and MAYBE the original Mythic Tarot, since it's Greek themed and I work with that pantheon and with that I REALLY want the Tarot of Delphi (which I'm SUPER excited for it to be reprinted, I'm on the mailing list) and the Olympus tarot which is OOP (cries inside)
I find it interesting that you're getting rid of the Wild Unknown Tarot. Lately, I've been called to work with it more and I'm not sure why. I don't even have anythibg going on the warrants a reading. I've been using them for my creative writing assignments and just playing with them, for lack of a better word, trying to figure out why I feel urged to used them. Lol. I've never had this happen before.
I love The Impressionist deck, the art and the look, but every time I did a personal reading with it I felt it had some really negative messages from the guidebook.
I have the crysalis tarot and I read with it generally mixed worh other cards and intuitively. But I'm thinking git would be worth it to get the big book and do a deeper study on it.
I have a Moon Garden deck collecting dust. I thought they looked cool, but I find that most of the cards look similar, and I find that difficult to read! Interesting video!
It’s time for me to go through my collection too. I’m letting go of moon garden also I think. I just have SO many I want to work with this year, no room for ones I don’t really use. 🤷♀️ besides storage is really becoming an issue.
Hi Jason! :) My wife makes all my reading cloths and tarot bags. Her online shop is called Sparx Creations and you can find it at www.etsy.com/shop/sparxcreations -- she does embroidery as well.
FYI . I checked with her. She had just stitched up a 20" x 20" reading cloth with her last bit of that fabric. Not yet listed. Msg her on Etsy if you want to reserve it!
Ok I admit that I’m a little bummed the Raven’s Prophecy didn’t work out for you (I’m not generally a fan of minimalist decks either but the RP is my big exception to the rule-something about it evokes so much for me, not sure why) but I totally share your opinion on a lot of the other ones. The Wild Unknown is just honestly not a deck I reach for much. I hang on to it for two reasons...one is that I love the Animal spirit oracle and somehow I feel bad splitting up the set?? Makes no sense, I know...and the other reason is that my deck interview revealed that it would be a good deck for self care in absolutely terrible times, like life’s lowest lows, but thankfully I haven’t gone through a time like that since I got it and I feel like, who knows, maybe a time like that will come along and I’ll be happy I have it?? 🤷♀️ Oh, and agreed, the New Mythic is hideous. I feel bad saying it, but I can’t sugarcoat it, it’s straight up ugly. I’m so glad they are reprinting the original!
It's great you can move decks out that aren't a good fit. You know I have a special bond with the Raven's Prophecy, but if it weren't for how much I adore the fiction books, maybe I wouldn't have felt called to it. Then again, I do love fire energy. ;) I'm SO curious what the new printing of the Mythic is going to look like, the card stock, card backs, book, etc. It will be interesting to compare to the 1986! Do you have the other Arthurian Tarot by Caitlin Matthews?
Interesting. I haven't owned or worked with any of the decks on your list. I keep going back and forth on whether I want Wild Unknown... I've seen it in person and I do like it (but agree re: the book seriously lacking). It's on a list with the Steampunk and a few others that I've been interested in quite consistently, but also feel like aren't at risk of going out of print and have just never quite made it to the *top* of my list. You sharing that blog full of meanings almost makes me more interested in it!! When I saw Raven's Prophecy I thought I'd love it based on the box / general style, but as soon as I saw the cards on youtube I knew it wasn't for me.
Oh… Please don’t give up on Raven’s prophecy just yet! Although it may be that part of why I love it so much is because I love the books… I totally agree with you on the impressionist Tarot. For me it was very much about card stock in the dullness of the coloration. The images just seemed all muddy and lifeless. I really hoped to love it but I don’t. Now of course, no surprise to anyone who knows me, I’m so sad that the wild unknown doesnt connect ... but yes the guidebook is terrible... what always warms my heart about the deck, though, is knowing that a deck like the Naked Heart couldn’t exist without TWU... it’s like the next generation of what Kim Krans was trying to do... thanks for another awesome video! So interesting! (Did you end up getting anything good off Potlatch at NWTS)
Aww, well Raven's Prophecy is still in the home - but in the wifey's very small deck pile at the moment. ;) Perhaps I might feel called to it in the future. And yesss at NWTS, I found a copy of the Wizard's Tarot on the Potlatch Table! :) And (for my sister) a copy of the Jane Austen Tarot - both OOP! :) Dropped a few goodies off, too. How about you??
Hey Lisa, I know this is TOTALLY late!! But did you find a home for the Lovers Tarot? I know its been over a year, but thought Id pop in and just ask!! Thanks!!
I have a paperback guidebook version of the Lovers Tarot + deck. It was my very first deck so I’m hesitant to get rid of it, but I never reach for it. If common sense prevails 😂 I’ll list it on e*ay. I haven’t worked with any of these decks. The Chrysalis Tarot is beautiful and I may have to look into that one 🤔 This was a really interesting video. I actually like hearing about why someone doesn’t resonate with a deck (or book, or film, or whatever). The cards in the Lovers tarot are ridiculously large!!! How does anyone use them?!
Well, I got so intusistic about your videos, guess I watched them all in a row!! No wonder I got mixed up. Checked the anti-haul video you talk about it, and yes, I got it wrong, my English doesn't help much either ;) sorry! I'm a collector, and of course, would love to get my hands on the Dephi deck. “I’m a book-sniffer and I notice these things.” 😂😂😂
I’m literally trying to widen my collection I do take very well care of my things so they will be going to a good home
Do you have other unwanted decks to rehome ?
I understand, the decks you showed I would give away too
Do you have any more decks you wanna rehome
Late observation, but, the Shapeshifter deck has attributes traditional to the Celtic tradition.
It also has extra cards. I use it more as an oracle, and just ignore the words in parentheses.
It's pretty much it's own system.
How do you do spell work with tarot cards? I know some decks have spells a long with them.

I love the orange deck. The second one. I would buy it from you. Ravens Prophecy! Let me know your price. Do you use sharpies to pretty up the sides?
Peggy ended up adopting that one! :) And yes, I use sharpies or alcohol-based chisel-tipped art markers to edge my decks :)
