You lads make me want to learn Irish. Inspirational. Screw the naysayers, this language is going to survive if people adopt your attitude towards it.
Go on!..
Lovely language.
That’s the spirit👍 Anois caith síar dhá buachaill dána yuuuuup
Hannah Caddell you don’t? Lol
@@hannahsavannah anything said in Irish is inspirational at this point.
*Gaeilic- the actual language
This is actually class. Even if theyre talking about ket, these lads are carrying the torch of an ancient irish poetic and bardic tradition. Yeats would approve
Edward Purcell I agree 100%. It kills me to think my language might die out
Yeats loved the bag
What's wrong with ket or MDMA??
@@davraheal6606 Isn't ketamine a horse traquilizer? hahaha
What’s wrong with ket
You have done more for the Irish language than has a hundred years of schooling. We need strong, angry, confident, aggressive, young men leading the charge. :) Fanacht deartháireacha láidir!
By chatting about pure unadulterated hedonism lol
@@SpinodoDragon More entertaining that fucking poems from the 1800s. They're using proper, standard everyday irish. ag baint úsáid as the drochfhocail agus gach rud
@@bigmanmccheez5342 agreed ! i love that their songs and Irish tionchars are sharing everyday current Irish so we're stuck unlearning these overley politr phrases that aren't used in every setting. like Dé an fecking craic? sounds a lot more like casual mates. they even hihglight their dialect's politer version; Cad é mar atá tú?
@@SpinodoDragonwell sorry to say but the majority of Irish are doing drugs now, and if you think you don’t have em in your life they’re just very good at hiding it. 7/10 in my line of work sniff coke, I’ve never tried, but I smoke myself.
It’s the result of consistently poor mental health services, generational trauma (especially up north) poor living conditions and housing crisis and people struggling to make ends meet. You have people wanting to numb the troubles and pain in their life with no support network, and combine that with a party night out, impulses, alcohol and nothing to lose. There it is, your perfect combination to starting hard drugs.
Kneecaps music is a societal reflection of this, and many Irish people resonate with it even if they don’t speak as Gaeilge because it’s very much something that’s become a normal part of Irish life. And censoring their music or having people stop talking about it changes none of that, believe me they’re not starting drugs because of their music, your sons and daughters were already trying their first line at their first disco at 17/18, probably shared Js with friends at school around 14. Trust me, they were.
If you don’t like what they speak about; maybe we should have more physical activism about what plights this country. I have nothing but respect for what they rap about, my anger is directed only at the governments who completely and consistently fail us time and time again to care about the plight of their people. Drugs are a reflection of pain. And villainizing those people instead of helping them has simply led to louder voices and it becoming mainstream media. No amount of outlawing will ever stop this.
I'm over 70, how was I not aware that there was an Irish language rap group? Yes!
Maybe you know by now but there is a movie right now called like the band "Kneecap" on theaters and it’s pretty good. Both of these guys are the main characters of the movie
Probably ‘cause you’re over 70🤷♂️
@@Mike-fs4vzageism
I’m over 70 also and love these guys. Just watched their movie today. A great way to learn Gaeilge.

Sláinte*
I have fluent Irish and I really love this stuff, the language will survive if this kind of stuff continues (btw I really didn't think rap and Irish would go well together, you proved me wrong)
Of course rap and Irish go together! The *Limmerick* is basically old skool rap. *Auld scoil rap* 🤣☘ we have a great oral and poetic tradition. We've been rapping for centuries, son.
"A limerick is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic meter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme."
before the flight of the earls there was actually a style of poetry set to music in ireland called Dán Díreach so there is a tradition here kind of
where did u learn it
@@fungusz_4292 Irish is spoken in a lot of houses in the West and North of Ireland. So that's probably where

But all can agree these fellas got that flloowwww.
Shout out from Cincinnati, OH, USA.
I think this is actually important for Ireland and the Irish people... real life in the original language. Now I really want to learn it again.
Sean nós singers sing about real life too...
I’m like 2 years late but same I didn’t learn like any of it. But I don’t want to use like fuckin Duolingo cause it’s probs inaccurate anyway o wish I actually did it well in school and could be able to speak my own language 😭
Shame that many in the republic don’t even consider them to be Irish since they’re from the north. I’ve personally heard this time and time again from people from that c#nt factory called Dublin.
@@rymic72 Well they are from the UK.
Just normal modern music in a language that needs to be made normal again. Absolutely amazing. Cheers from an American trying to learn Irish.
Me too bro, ádh mór

Ok so I’m definitely here after the edited end in 2024, been watching this video since 2019 and I’m just more impressed, partial to some bingo myself . More power to the lads ☘️
A. Great job on both the production and the song.
B. Can I can get some clarification as to what the word 'Amach' translates to in English....
The Galwegian writer, Ken Bruen, often uses the term 'Sleante Amach' as part of the dialogue in his novels.
Even my rellies from West Cork and Northern Monaghan are a bit confused by the exact translation....
Either way, a cool track.
Amach = Out, or outside or outwards.
Amach anocht = Out tonight, as in "going out tonight".
Not sure about "sleante amach"
Amach anocht means out tonight. Sleanta anocht I'm not sure it must be a dialect thing
Is that Sláinte Mhaith perhaps?x
Big up from Malta. !
Ann stuf lads.👍

My husband is learning because of them.
Jesus this makes me wish I actually payed attention in the Irish jc and lc
Schools teach like crap anyway, they only teach to pass exams. If they were teaching for real, you'd be able to
- understand native speakers by the end of it
- have at least a basic understanding of how to make the consonant and vowel sounds of Irish which are supposed to be different than English
- be able to have a conversation using grammatically sound sentences
Now go do the above yourself. Head over to ILF (Irish Language Forum) for advice on materials and within one year you'll be doing far better than any LC graduate
Ar fheabhras ar fad!
