you know what makes me happy? how Tyler will tell you the meaning to his tattoos in person but you have to promise not to tell anyone. I can imagine how many people he has told and they promised not to tell and it makes me happy that I haven't seen anyone online saying the meaning of his tattoos. it makes me have faith in humanity knowing that people have kept that promise.
I actually so this everyday. Hearing his speeches or just some Interviews ... It's the only thing that calms down. I don't listen to what he's saying... I just want to hear his voice. Same with josh. I'm weird I kno but at least I don't get these shitty nightmares :)
Dude, I do that. I listen to their music to fall asleep to, so I don't fall asleep crying. I also set up my alarm as them saying "holy mackerel" and "holy Toledo"..
Tyler is the kind of person I want to have as a friend to call at 2 am when I'm having an existential crisis. but since that can't happen, I just rely on the music ❤
stuff like this makes me wana meet him even more. It's such a shame that, when you meen musicians you have just a short moment to take photo, and then, that's it. I whish I could meet him and talk with him for hours about what we belive in and how we think the world works. I need to meet that guy.
Hey i would love to talk about what we believe in and how the world works and lots of other things, feels good to talk to people about these things and expressing yourself.
Got concerned for a little bit there, I thought you recorded him saying exactly what his tattoos meant and I know he doesn't want it getting out there. Honestly, I think it's very hard telling people what you believe in and I'm glad Tyler understands that. I also like that he's kind enough to let fans know about something so personal to him (face to face, I mean). Him and Josh just seem so open and accepting to everybody. I hope I get to meet him one day and ask him about his tats.
What I absolutely love about this community is that Tyler has probably explained his tattoos to hundreds of people, but you won't find the story anywhere online. That to me is serious trust. I'm so happy to have found this clique.
Actually there are some article about his tattoes.. But i don't think that is what Tyler told, because he doesn't told in any interview.. So it's just like noz the deep meaning but 'this is'... ' because i see it' you know, not the deep meaning but just the aesthetic one.. I
i want to get a tattoo that means "kitchen sink" in some strange language and when people ask me ill tell them, and when they're like "LOL why kitchen sink?1?!" ill say "cause a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me" and then rap the entire song. if i could rap.
Unfortunately it is online. I had my guesses and I wanted to verify it, so I did a quick search. Either a lot of us all think a like, or the real meaning is posted online.
He is such a beautiful human, and I'm very happy that this video didn't contain his actual meaning behind his tattoos, because he's specifically said that he doesn't want it on the internet and it's also something i do plan on asking him when I finally see them live. He just has the most amazing things to say and the most beautiful ways to say them, I really want to be able to just sit down and talk to him about everything. Thank you so much for not having the actual explanation on this video. :) haha
Kayla Teteak me too! But i would be too nervous to ask! Id keep the meaning to myself and like two of my other best friends bc if i were seeing TØP id want them there too
This is so beautiful and meaningful, I teared up when he started explaining that he didn't wanna talk about his specific beliefs when he had a microphone and was speaking to an audience because that made it too easy to press beliefs on people or at least to seem like he's trying to press his beliefs, but that he's willing to have that conversation personally when it's not so one sided... That's honestly so noble and powerful and I wish more people would think that way, instead of taking control of power and status to push their messages on others...
I was terrified of watching this, so I paused before it started and read the comments. I couldn't have watched this if someone recorded what he was actually explaining. It's personal and I'd want to find out in person if I ever meet him. I love the way he approached the question about his tattoos in this.
Alex Poplawsky LAST NIGHT I HAD A DREAM THAT WE WERE DOING A THING AT THIS RESTAURANT/BAR WITH MY SCHOOL AND TYLER AND JOSH WERE THERE AND THEY REMEMBERED ME FROM A CONCERT AND THEY BECAME GOOD FRENS OF MINE AND WE ALL GOT KILLED BY A KID WITH DOWN SYNDROME
Alex Poplawsky same. Also I just want to share that I had a dream that I met tyler and he came up to me and asked if I wanted to come into his trailer for a ride. We just talked and I saw josh on there too it was amazing.
That's because (from what I can see) Josh's sleeve is things like space, nature, etc. Tyler's are more abstract (?) which probably makes people wonder about what they are
tyler joseph, alex turner and matty healy are the guys you'd sit on the top of some building in the lonely hours talking about universe, love, sex, sadness and everything that goes through your head
I wouldn't because that's just how I feel about it. I don't think it's my business to know. They are personal to him, but there is nothing stopping you! I know plenty of people have asked him before but I don't know if he answered them. I guess it's up to you.
Andrea Wolford-Rooney I had a look at the comments of this and another video and somebody met him irl and had asked him and he told him all about them but evryone he tells has to promise not to tell it online, I would only ask if if the moment was right.
+laurynisnotcool He has responded to a fan online saying that if she'd like to know, he'd love to have a personal conversation face-to-face. So it sounds like he's fine with people asking :) Just not on the internet or on a stage.
Tyler will tell you but he is very personally about them. you'll gain his trust and how he says "I'll be holding onto you" he'll trust so much that you won't tell anyone. I want to ask him and tell him my own meaning from what I've learned by listening to his songs. he shouldn't take it to offense
I absolutely love this guys subtlety. Maybe it's in part because I'm not religious or spiritual, but I really appreciate the effort he puts into avoiding directly talking about his spirituality and religious beliefs. He won't even say "it's a cross" and move on. It's obvious throughout his art that it's his primary influence, but it isn't his message, at least not blatantly. He believes in his faith more honestly than anyone I've ever seen, because he doesn't feel the need to give you the answer, that if you keep asking the right questions you'll wind up there on your own. That's powerful, and I respect the hell out of that.
I had the fortunate chance of meeting Tyler on July 7th 2015 and t the Sydney Metro theatre on their Australian tour. I was leaning against the fire exit and he opened it and almost knocked me over lol. He said sorry and then asked how the concert was, I was in awe I couldn't believe he was in front of me talking to me. I showed him my tøp tattoos and he ran his finger along one of them and said "oh yeah! I've seen this on Instagram, I love it, it's awesome!" And then the question I had been waiting to ask since 2010 was what his tattoos meant, and he told me and I'll take those words to the grave. He's such a kind, gentle person, very quiet but his voice has been the loudest in my life in all of my down moments. He told me to stay alive and that was it. Then they got big and famous and I can't see them.performing another small concert like they did at the metro again. I'd love to see them live again but not surrounded by screaming 13 year old girls, I miss the intimacy they have with fans and if I ever get the opportunity to go to a small concert with them again, I'll pay any amount of money. That was the greatest night of my life and I'll never forget it. |-/
Accomyx I agreed with you for the first parts of your comment but then you had to mention age...? I don’t think it matters how old people are at concerts because the clique is a family and I’m sure Tyler and Josh are grateful for everyone of us no matter what age. As someone who’s known tøp since I was 12, it sucks to still see people saying that all the big concerts(of course they’ll have younger fans now, they’re super popular) are “screaming 13 year old girls.” Just let them have their fun dude, just like you did. I mean, just because you’re older doesn’t mean you’re automatically a bigger fan and superior to the ones who are really excited(like screaming and crying)at concerts. That’s just my input though, I know your comment didn’t have to do with it at all. It was cool you got to meet him though. I’m going to the Boston show on Oct 26(for the Trench tour). This is the first time I’m getting pit tickets to any concert so I hope I at least get the first few rows and maybe even hold his hand :). It kind of sucks that they don’t sell VIP tickets(because tbh I’d pay thousands for them)but I understand why.
Tyler is that friend that you'll sit and talk about crazy weird stuff about the universe or just really crazy meaningful stuff! He's also that friend that if you'll call him at like 2 or 3 in the morning telling him your problems and he'll be there and start telling you meaningful stuff to you that will make you feel better! I want a friend like Tyler!!
Very good thoughts. I appreciate that he doesn't want the meaning of his tattoos on the Internet, and this explains the reasons behind that quite well. I'm also impressed that it's not out on the Internet there yet--or if it is, I haven't come across it. But it will be put out there eventually. :/
Tyler is great (and Josh too of course) and I really agree with his vision on tattoos. I like how he's open when it's appropriate but saves his personal views and stories for the people who are genuinely interested. I think they're role models of how "famous people" should behave and treat their fans and I feel like I really belong in the skeleton clique. Also I thought it was funny this was discussed at Karma Records and my first tattoo says "karma" in the Sanskrit language. =)
Everyday I think up conversations I could have with Tyler and josh if I met them. I can only dream that one day one, of the hundreds I’ve dreamt up, could become a reality.
my guesses are: 1. the one below his shoulder is a cross. Tyler is religious religious so this would make sense 2. I know the x on his arm represents his hometown- I think he stated this in an interview somewhere & josh has the same one behind his ear. 3.(this one is far fetched but stay with me) when Tyler was younger he used to always have a rubber band around his wrist. some people keep them on their wrists to snap when they have an urge to cut. I could be completely wrong, and I'm not saying this is what Tyler had it for. but the tattoos he has around his wrist could represent this and serve as a reminder.
Drew Cano Oh LOL sorry then!! It didn't make a lot of sense that somebody who could like the guy enough to even say something about that wouldn't know that much about him! But you totally got me!! /bow
That's really cool. I love that he won't push anything on anyone. Probably why I will get more tattoos. Personal conversations. That's what makes us human and social.
Andrea Wolford-Rooney No, ma'am. I was the one nervously holding my copy of _Regional At Best_ and hoping I wouldn't be mugged for it. But I definitely remember the iPad. I used its screen to see half the time.
And this is why I love this fandom. We (as fans of these guys) respect them and their wishes enough to not go crazy as soon as we find out what they mean. We keep it to ourselves, and that makes it all the more special
if someone just arranges a campfire event with the guys and the clique and let us stay overnight, and let us eat dinner together, and sing campfire songs, meet new friends, eat breakfast together, sing on the bus while going to the airport for some guys who lives out of the states, then that would be great.
I can't watch anymore TØP videos!!! It's just heartbreaking, to think that I can't talk to them, see them, face to face or make a conversation with them!!! It's just makes me sad... and I just want to cry!! It's painful!! And it's the first time in my life, that I feel something like that!!! My dream is, to one day, meat my second family!!! My second brothers!!!
sadly I'll probably never get the chance to ever meet him, let alone see him live... I still want to know the amazing deep story behind them, just see how the kindest cutest funniest person ever got to how he was an what he's reminded of every time he sees those tattoos.
aw. this video made me feel really good and happy and then I read the description and I died a little inside because they were in Indianapolis in 2014 and I live in Indianapolis but I didn't listen to them back then and now I want to cry
gee...the more I fall in love w/ them...I literally just saw them yesterday in MSG, NY 8-11-16...I will always and forever love them for who they are and what they stand for...
+Jayden Quick Yeah...that's something I've heard from people. And I know what you mean when you say you'd feel bad. Because most times, a tattoo like that has a very personal, often powerful message behind of it. I know mine does. To get the exact replica of someone's can be either really respectful or the exact opposite. Usually those who know that individual on a personal level are in the "respectful" group. I don't know if you know Markiplier from UA-cam, but he said the only tattoo he'd get was the one his late father had. There's a connection between them and it's empowering and emotional for him. If a fan of Mark's got his dad's tattoo, that'd be highly offensive. So it's not really a fine line, I guess. You could take something of theirs and use it to inspire your own design, which I think would be endearing without taking away from their original purpose.
Sometimes I daydream about meeting him in public like on a airplane or something and actually be able to have a conversation w him and ask all the questions I've had since I discovered them. I love him so much and i wish one day i get the chance to tell him
Honestly, Tyler is the kind of person I would call in the middle of the night/morning, and cry to. I would tell him my feeling and life thoughts. I would thank him for understanding me.
It's reasons and explanations like this that are the reason why I love this band so much. They make you think. Tyler supports you using your mind and using what you believe in and to me, that is just so beautiful. It shows that he cares about maintaining who we are as PEOPLE because we can so easily get carried away with this 'big' idea that just because he is in a band that he is different but he's not and use that as an excuse for just assuming his life is in the open. I love the idea of making us think and going to another level with his fans. |-/
Explaining tattoos sucks. I only have one so far, but it's only been two weeks and I already hate trying to explain my religion (paganism) and just say "I like the moon" Tattoos are kinda personal and when someone doesnt know you well it can be difficult to talk about it
i just wish i could have a conversation with tyler. not a quick one but a long one maybe an hour or two. and we could just talk about his tattoos, life, how we got here, what our purpose is and things like that.
as much as i want to know id never ask someone that knows what they mean to tell me. they *_promised_* tyler to not tell anyone. they had a personal conversation with him and even if i asked i think it'd be very rude to tell me in any way
That's a great point Tyler made. It isn't fair for him to have this personal conversation with an audience with a microphone, because he won't get a reply like you would talking one on one. To have a real conversation especially about beliefs, he can't have the larger voice ( microphone).
he seems like such a cool guy. i can imagine sitting with him on my living room floor really late at night and just talking about deep, philosophical things. he seems like a rly cool guy to do that kind of stuff with and it makes me sad to know i wont ever get to have a conversation with him.
Why is he so intelligent and amazing? Someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to treat a person as wise and honest and pure as that like just any other human being. Nope, I refuse.
If I had to guess, I would say that his explanation is exactly what the tattoos signify. That we should all love each other, respect our differences, and not force our beliefs on each other. That is the deepest truth, right there.
Who is the person talking when he was talking? Like some old woman. When he said about it's a conversation starter, you hear somebody say "it is" @ around 0:28. And they were also talking at 0:24 and again at about 0:50
Interviewer: What is your favorite song to play live?
Tyler: *explains the meaning of life*
Lmfao so true.
Interviewer: What's your favorite color?
Tyler: *long speech about life* what was the question again?
Cat 😂😂
Anyone: *asks literally any question*
Tyler: *explains the meaning of life*
you know what makes me happy? how Tyler will tell you the meaning to his tattoos in person but you have to promise not to tell anyone. I can imagine how many people he has told and they promised not to tell and it makes me happy that I haven't seen anyone online saying the meaning of his tattoos. it makes me have faith in humanity knowing that people have kept that promise.

Tyler is the kind of person I want to have as a friend to call at 2 am when I'm having an existential crisis. but since that can't happen, I just rely on the music ❤

+Yellow_Flash same here
What if you could spend as much time with Tyler and josh as you do listening to them?
Got concerned for a little bit there, I thought you recorded him saying exactly what his tattoos meant and I know he doesn't want it getting out there. I love how you added "if I could rap".
+molly oldenburgh [hits blunt] Dude, all languages are strange when you think about it. [hits blunt again]
I see you have a tumblr??
+molly oldenburgh I love this idea so much, okey friend? *smirks*
dude I just got down the whole rap from Tyler I'm not gonna attempt Zach's but I'm excited about Tyler's rap 😆😆😆
I love that he doesn't want the meaning out there and us as fans respect that so much like there's nothing online about the meaning
and that he trusts us, and we trust each other, and the clique is a family and they love us and we love each other
Yeah actually it's all over. Just gotta Google it. *sad face*
Unfortunately it is online. I had my guesses and I wanted to verify it, so I did a quick search. Either a lot of us all think a like, or the real meaning is posted online.

Anyone else love the way when he ends his sentences he sounds grungy ?!💖💖💖
1:40 Tyler believes in geometric lines (they're sick as frick)
I started crying while watching this and i can't even explain why he is such a beautiful human being
i think i always cry when he talks hes so incredible
It's weird that nobody really asks about Josh's sleeve tattoo.. He said it has to do with his beliefs I think...
That's because (from what I can see) Josh's sleeve is things like space, nature, etc. Tyler's are more abstract (?) which probably makes people wonder about what they are
true. I still really want to know what it means though.
Its a bible verse in code
I heard him say it's too cover up a burn
Christiana Valery really? when?
Is it weird to say that I'm proud of them? Fully grown men, and I'm proud of them... No? Okay... I'm proud of them...
I am also
C'drick Henderson they're not "fully" grown men but they're grown enough
theyre children
tyler joseph, alex turner and matty healy are the guys you'd sit on the top of some building in the lonely hours talking about universe, love, sex, sadness and everything that goes through your head
sit on the top of some building*
Totalmente de acuerdo, sobre todo con Matty Healy, su música es sorprendente
I wish it so bad
Iva Bistrović Matty is one of my favorite people in the whole world tbh
and Emerson Barrett from Palaye Royale
Tyler is such a fair open minded person, I wish I had a friend like him. I swear the world needs more people like him, he is my role model
interviewer: what’s your favorite song you wrote?
tyler: well it depends- *talks about the meaning of life for 10 minutes*
tyler is the wisest person ever. ever
The fact that I'll never have any friends like Josh and Tyler saddens me.
so if I, with the very rare chance, met tyler would it be okey if i asked him in person or does he not really want people to know?
I wouldn't because that's just how I feel about it. I don't think it's my business to know. They are personal to him, but there is nothing stopping you! I know plenty of people have asked him before but I don't know if he answered them. I guess it's up to you.

Very good thoughts. I appreciate that he doesn't want the meaning of his tattoos on the Internet, and this explains the reasons behind that quite well. I'm also impressed that it's not out on the Internet there yet--or if it is, I haven't come across it. But it will be put out there eventually. :/
I absolutely love how people have kept his tattoo meanings a secret. I think it means a lot to him & it makes me really happy to see that too.
This is one of the only newer bands that I have introduced my kids to. The fact that they have character and integrity really adds to their appeal.
It's so comforting to read all these comments and see how many people understand and are cool with it. Makes me feel a little less alone.
This man is so wise. Such an inspiration! I have so much respect and admiration for Tyler.
Everyday I think up conversations I could have with Tyler and josh if I met them. I can only dream that one day one, of the hundreds I’ve dreamt up, could become a reality.
my guesses are:
1. the one below his shoulder is a cross. Tyler is religious religious so this would make sense
He is so adorable!! So down to earth!! I love it!!
the first youtube video that didn't have a dislike
+Norse Titan well.. not anymore :/
35
Everything he says is always so inspiring. I had not expected this when i tapped on the video.
You are an inspiration, Tyler!🙏
Komal Singharia "honking nipples " yeah so inspiring 😂
Just kidding I totally agree with you
You know I expected by now to have some sort of leak of his tattoos and so far no one has and that’s friggin respect man
I'm Gonna Tattoo "Tyler Joseph Is God" Across My Face. No Explanation Needed.
I feel like he might be offended by that, seeing as how he's a Christian.
AwesomeFaceHD And that several of his tattoo's involve crosses lol
+Drew Cano Ooooh, I don't think you should do that! Maybe "Tyler Joseph Is Awesome"?
it was a joke lmao
Drew Cano Oh LOL sorry then!! It didn't make a lot of sense that somebody who could like the guy enough to even say something about that wouldn't know that much about him! But you totally got me!! /bow
HUGE respect. That's one of the reasons I love Tyler
That's really cool. I love that he won't push anything on anyone. Probably why I will get more tattoos. Personal conversations. That's what makes us human and social.
He seems to be such a humble, genuine, sweet person. ^-^
He is such a beautiful person. Literally, in a world of stone hearts he is a gem.
I was right behind you, apparently!
Haha I was the girl with the purple iPad case. Were you the one that won the tickets?
Andrea Wolford-Rooney No, ma'am. I was the one nervously holding my copy of _Regional At Best_ and hoping I wouldn't be mugged for it. But I definitely remember the iPad. I used its screen to see half the time.
Haha that's so cool! Sorry if I was blocking your view...
And this is why I love this fandom. We (as fans of these guys) respect them and their wishes enough to not go crazy as soon as we find out what they mean. We keep it to ourselves, and that makes it all the more special
I love how he said it's a conversation starter because that's why one day I want to get the acronym GGP on my hand.
Is it just me or have loads of tøp videos just exploded in views recently?
That was me binge-watching, sorry :P
+Johanna A. Florez same
THAT WAS ME
Tyler Joseph's Kimono I'm wearing you rn
+KaylaPie XD 2 Without context...
damn, you could literally ask him what bread he likes best and he'd spend 2 hours having a deep conversation about bread
if someone just arranges a campfire event with the guys and the clique and let us stay overnight, and let us eat dinner together, and sing campfire songs, meet new friends, eat breakfast together, sing on the bus while going to the airport for some guys who lives out of the states, then that would be great.
That would be so great
That is beautiful. TØP is my favorite band because of things like this. I hope one day I get to have a conversation with Tyler.
My parents hate tattoos. I got my tattoos because they have a significant meaning to me, I respect Tyler a lot.
I still want to know the amazing deep story behind them, just see how the kindest cutest funniest person ever got to how he was an what he's reminded of every time he sees those tattoos.
thankyou so much for uploading this xx
I could totally have a late night convo with him about life and philosophical stuff
aw. this video made me feel really good and happy and then I read the description and I died a little inside because they were in Indianapolis in 2014 and I live in Indianapolis but I didn't listen to them back then and now I want to cry
Tyler is an inspiration and role model to me.
gee...the more I fall in love w/ them...I literally just saw them yesterday in MSG, NY 8-11-16...I will always and forever love them for who they are and what they stand for...
This was such a good answer. This is why Tyler Joseph is so amazing.
well I was planning on getting your arm tattoos... now if I get them I'll feel bad...
+Jayden Quick lol same
+Jayden Quick Yeah...that's something I've heard from people. You could take something of theirs and use it to inspire your own design, which I think would be endearing without taking away from their original purpose.
this one dude got Tyler's sleeve tats and Tyler thought it was awesome he loved it
+Sammie Plante well if that's the case then I might get the same thing!
Tyler loves when people get the same tattoos he has
I love how he doesn't feel pressured to tell anyone about them
Sometimes I daydream about meeting him in public like on a airplane or something and actually be able to have a conversation w him and ask all the questions I've had since I discovered them. I love him so much and i wish one day i get the chance to tell him
He is just so amazing.
Honestly, Tyler is the kind of person I would call in the middle of the night/morning, and cry to. I would tell him my feeling and life thoughts. I would thank him for understanding me.
I'm watching everything I can find about this dude, his music is everything
It's reasons and explanations like this that are the reason why I love this band so much. They make you think. Tyler supports you using your mind and using what you believe in and to me, that is just so beautiful. It shows that he cares about maintaining who we are as PEOPLE because we can so easily get carried away with this 'big' idea that just because he is in a band that he is different but he's not and use that as an excuse for just assuming his life is in the open. I love the idea of making us think and going to another level with his fans. |-/
He's so beautifully wise and insightful
Explaining tattoos sucks. I only have one so far, but it's only been two weeks and I already hate trying to explain my religion (paganism) and just say "I like the moon"
Tattoos are kinda personal and when someone doesnt know you well it can be difficult to talk about it
i respect him so much for not preaching on it, but wanting to have an equal conversation instead.
This is perfect I can't explain how much I love how he said this
Wait! This was in Indianapolis?!?! I live there! Born in raised!! Pls Tyler come back!!! I didn't know you then I was like 10
i just wish i could have a conversation with tyler. not a quick one but a long one maybe an hour or two. and we could just talk about his tattoos, life, how we got here, what our purpose is and things like that.
I just want Tyler as a fren that I could talk to at like 4am when I'm having an existential crisis and questioning the meaning of the university to
as much as i want to know id never ask someone that knows what they mean to tell me. they *_promised_* tyler to not tell anyone. they had a personal conversation with him and even if i asked i think it'd be very rude to tell me in any way
he is the purest person I've ever met. so much respect for this dude.
I went in this place two weeks ago. Also, i saw this video about a year ago and i never knew it was in Indiana. Rad.
We need to preach this and pass it on. humans can learn from this genius.
God damn. Never realized how mysterious they are
I have so much respect for Tyler.
Tyler Joseph in one word: honorable
Why is he so intelligent and amazing? Someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to treat a person as wise and honest and pure as that like just any other human being. Nope, I refuse.
He's just so beautiful inside and out.
If I had to guess, I would say that his explanation is exactly what the tattoos signify. That we should all love each other, respect our differences, and not force our beliefs on each other. That is the deepest truth, right there.
This is super cool. Thanks for posting
Just woke up from listening to Tyjo's voice 💗💗💕😂
thanks for posting this!
Who is the person talking when he was talking? Like some old woman. When he said about it's a conversation starter, you hear somebody say "it is" @ around 0:28. And they were also talking at 0:24 and again at about 0:50
i love him so much!!!💕😘😁😍
