I love joji and I love this new album but I do have to be a little critical. I feel like with this album he only got time to do 3 songs, glimpse of us, die for you, and yukon, then having a decent amount of time, 1 am freestyle, and the rest aren’t fully fleshed out, there even is a demo, and with Dissolve he had to rely on auto-tune to get it out quickly. Another thing I noticed is that he is not confident with his voice and you can tell, like you said how he sticks to a certain range all throughout the album. I really like Smithereens but I feel that there was potential for it to be even better.
@@bowsy1there is a level of fanaticism thats a little too high if you can't admit that your favorite artist has flaws in some projects. I've been listening to Joji since 2016 and its easy to say that Smithereens is not as strong of a project as most of his other work.

Kind of disappointing to get a short album (compared to Nectar) after waiting for so long. Nectar had more variety in comparison. Nectar had Run, Daylight, Sanctuary, Gimmie Love, etc. I love Glimpse of Us, Yukon, and Die For You. I liked the others but like you said, vocally they were not unique. He has a style, and I like it, but he can do more. When he went on tour to advertise the album I expected more. I guess he and his team did not have much time to work on it while one tour. There was a point this year where he lost his voice, which costed time. I could definitely see how people would get bored; even if I like it.
