Awesome work Jarrod! 🙌
@Rays Through Trees, Summer Breeze I wanted to wait also but I couldn't due to the urgent need for a laptop. Btw I got the 5i rtx2060 and idk what u heard but my ears are still getting use to how silent like zero to .1 % of any noise when any at all and as far as heating goes it barely barely I mean barely gets heated and that was after a few hours editing etc. And as far as the rtx2060 entry card rhetoric ..itd still ahead of the the 1660ti and it will be supported by dlss where the gtx card won't be and the "ray tracing" for what its worth does show in some of the software so far. But either way it all depends on your needs but I'll tell you its a good buy 👍
I have to say having both the omen and a Lenovo, I find there is much less chassis flex in the omen than the Lenovo, which resulted in the keyboard not working on the Lenovo. So I would say on paper Lenovo is better but for everyday use I would say omen because of the titanium chassis. And both have had their fair share of hits .
So in most cases the Legion 5 is slightly better than the Omen 15, whilst also being more flexible in customizations. But the Omen is still an exceptional laptop and getting either of the two is a great choice
Ordered the Omen 15 with 2060 last week for $1371 (converted from Swedish currency) with a discount I had through work on the HP website. The same specced Legion (though with 1TB SSD instead of 512GB) is on sale right now for $1595 (full price is $1772). I'm still happy with my choice since the Legion is so much more expensive in Sweden. Thanks for the comparison!
I clicked on this video hoping the omen won't be better, because I bought Legion 5 a week ago. I wasn't expecting the legion to obliterate omen. Thanks for this comparison. I expected this battle between 2 laptops to be very tight but clearly the legion 5 shred apart the omen 15.... I feel bad coz i just bought the hp omen 15 as the legion 5 isn't launched in our country....
Other way around for me! The Omen 15 only just came out in the UK this week, while I managed to get my hands on the Legion 5 about a month ago. Please don't regret getting the Omen though, these machines are basically trading blows so we're both winners in my book!
I just returned my legion 5 to get an omen 15. The performance difference is negligible really, and the Omen 15 looks much better, it's more portable, and the keyboard layout is the best I've seen on a laptop (I wish the lenovo didn't have that awkward numpad on the side, with such a small enter and shift button, and weird home - page up/down positioning - it was really confusing while typing, even though I must admit the tactility was fine). Also the trackpad on the Legion is too stiff at a large portion of the top area (unclickable really). In the end, I believe both machines should be considered great buys, so, you shouldn't feel any regrets, enjoy your HP!
@@atriantafy yeah keyboard layout is better in omen. Did you find any display issues with Legion? I saw many comments regarding display and battery issues with that ryzen model.
Thanks so much for your review mate! I was on a tight budget & can't afford the MacBook Pro. I needed a laptop to edit go pro footage mainly. Saw few reviews and was confused. Finally after watching your reviews I was clear with what I want. Finally ordered legion 5 ryzen 7. Got it today, just done with the setup. Thanks again for helping me in making my decision.
Waiting for this :) Though sad cuz amd version hard to find where i live :(, but i think i might be able to settle for intel since the legion seems so good :)
Currently watching this on my 2022 Legion 5 with the 3050ti. I love it, the 4 gigs of vram has not been an issue and I build projects on Unreal Engine. It is great.
This is one of my favorite reviews, i had a legion with a ryzen 7 and a 1650 ti but I feel like the performance was still impressive for its gpu. I also have an omen with the ryzen 7 and 1660ti. I like using the omen too but the fans turning on max speed out of nowhere hurt my soul severely, especially when i'm listening to music or photo editing. i'm probably going to switch to the legion again but with a stronger gpu, the 1660ti version is a pretty sick nasty deal on amazon i feel versus what i got the omen for so pretty cheesed about that. I also grew up using lenovo laptops so I'm pretty biased to legion given that it has the curved key design also contemplating on getting the asus tuf a15 with the ryzen 9 and 2060, undervaluing it cause it's priced so cheap cause cheap cooling but also built TUF so I guess that means it'll last longer? I also wanna wait til a stronger 15 inch legion 5 comes out and wait for it to go on sale, feel like i should have gotten the 17 inch version cause it was on sale but its out of stock now so i'm basically dying inside every day
Hello, how long did you have the Legion 5? Anyone with Legion 5 can reply. Do you have any problems with the screen or anything at all honestly? I'm hoping to buy one. I hope you can update us again after a month or so. I've been reading the same reoccurring problem about the screen turning off unexpectedly while the laptop is still on/working on the other hand. The other one is the hinge problem of another Legion model. They're not the same Laptop of course, but their hinge factor is still the same. $999 or more is still a serious money to pay for a laptop that will die on you early.
@@162benjamin I sent it back after a couple weeks cause I felt like I needed a strong enough gpu that i wouldn't have to upgrade for upcoming games and software over the next few years. the screen was fine on mine. If it does come with a defect like the screen just send it back and get a replacement or they call some tech guy to your house to see if he can fix it (probably, never called the tech guy but I guess that's what they'll do) For context of what I used the legion 5 for, I played games like mhw with 60-80 fps on highest settings while streaming. I found that the fans wouldn't speed up for optimal cooling sometimes which worried me especially when it's on performance mode which has an automatic overclock. I don't truly understand what the numbers or overclocking means but I tested it on msi afterburner, the max clock speed It could stay at was 1800-2025 while playing mhw and battlefield 5 Whatever that means it sounds OP for a 1650ti. Anyway to fix the fan problem just restart the laptop and it'll fix itself, feels a bit tedious but I believe its needed to save the pc parts from dying early. I also remember seeing somewhere that the legion 5 had a better reinforced hinge design than the legion 7 Besides how they are built I'm pretty sure all pc/laptops will have their own reoccurring problems until an update fixes them.
Greaat! i really thanks to you for making this video, but can you help me cause i have fixed budget and can't decide between omen 15 4800h rtx2060 or Legion 5 4600h rtx2060 (both have the same price in my country), and with the difference in cpu and power limit for the gpu (if i'm not mistaken on omen 15 is 90 watts while the legion is 115 watts) which device given the better performance? particulary on gaming.

Great video! Needed!
I have to say having both the omen and a Lenovo, I find there is much less chassis flex in the omen than the Lenovo, which resulted in the keyboard not working on the Lenovo. So I would say on paper Lenovo is better but for everyday use I would say omen because of the titanium chassis. And both have had their fair share of hits .
thank gosh I was thinking of getting the Legion!
My legion 5i watching this in the corner shouting support to his brother 🔥🔥🔥😂👍. Nice review anyways
Me too bro , legion 5 I gang, let's go🤟🙌🤪
I clicked on this video hoping the omen won't be better, because I bought Legion 5 a week ago. I wasn't expecting the legion to obliterate omen. Thanks for this comparison. I am even happier I got the legion 5. Also I have the RGB version so the performance is at least 30% better from the one in the video.
Hello, do you have any problems with the screen so far? Or anything honestly? I hope you can update us after a month or so.
@@162benjamin No problems so far. The screen has vibrant colors and the brightness is great.
Jarrod is the laptop God Reviewer and its not even close. Thank you for this, sir! More power to you and your channel.
Thanks for this comparison ❤️ love the Omen 15, I need the SD Card for content creation
So 200$ more for less performance instead of just buying a 5$ external SD card dongle ?
@@robyrandom1148 nahh, I also don’t game that much, so a bit-less performance is good for me.
@@robyrandom1148 the performance difference is barely noticeable lmao. on top of rather having an inbuilt sd card reader than a dongle its all subjective either way dont clown him
niormally omens are far more cheaper in comparison to legions in my country so its a deal breaker for me
@@riderinprogress Same, the legion 5 is like $1700 over here in India for the RTX 2060 variant whereas it's $1600 for the Omen 15
I want to thank you jarrod you helped me make the decision much easier. i am having a omen 15 r5 + 1660ti model and a big thanks to you too for that !
guys at 10:28 dosen't the screen of omen looks better with more contrast? pls let me know your suggestions because im planning to buy a laptop.
This is the battle of the supreme, much appreciated that you bought both and take the time to make this comparison! Best Laptop Channel
Oh, the Omen's corners are sharp? Count me in! I like scratching the center of the palm of my hand on them.
Nvm, I'm getting the Legion because of screen flex and brightness issues on the Omen. sorry HP fans!
Still a good choice, tell us how it goes when you buy it.
You done it Jdog! Man you’re getting good at these!
My dude, you are being critical right now in helping me decide on the best one for me. Thank you so much for your help and thoroughness on this!
Great comparison! I just bought the Legion 5i 15" with the i7, I wanted the Ryzen version but wasn't available with the spec I wanted. it should arrive in a week or two! :D
How was your experience with the Legion in the past 9 months?
I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with 4800H and RTX 2060 6gb. Boy, I am loving it. Got it for 999£ from Curry's PC world (UK). only down side was a 8gb RAM and 256 storage and no webcam. but with all options for upgrade this one was pure value for money.
Hello, how long did you have this laptop? Do you have any problems with the screen or anything at all honestly? I'm hoping to buy one. I've been reading the same reoccurring problem about the screen turning off unexpectedly while the laptop is still on/working on the other hand. $999 or more is still a serious money to pay for a laptop that will die on you early.
@@162benjamin for one month now. No issues with any component till date. I am very much satisfied. I got it from CURRY's PC in UK for 999 GBP (£) . I am not sure if the RTX 2060 version is available in USA. Very sturdy feel and does not look like something that will die soon.
@@162benjamin not sure whats wrong with this guy.. asking same question over and over to 100 different people who own legion 5.. apparently 🙅🤷🙆💁🙋🤦🙇🙍🙎🧏💆every all of them said they don't have the issue.
The crown goes to Legion this year! Good Job!
Grabbed the Omen a few months back. Legion was tempting but the smaller size, nicer design, and better battery for the Omen closed the deal for me. Hate big heavy battery bricks as I'm constantly traveling. Also got it on sale with a crazy good deal on accidental damage replacement ($69 for two years) so yea, both awesome laptops but the Omen worked out better for me.

the 15 inch in Faster
thanks Jarrod, great vid as always👍 onequestion: you say the Legion display is a bit better. But seeing both side by side at 6:49 the HP Omen display looks better to me, brighter, much crisper, while the Legions display looks almost washed out vs. the Omen. Did you see this in real life too? how do you explain this? many thanks.

Thanks, Jarrod. I bought Lenovo Legion 5 (R5 4600H + RTX 2060) after your previous review. Your reviews are excellent.

Can you cover repasting and/or paste Comparisons on a laptop?
Honestly it's a lot of time I don't have at the moment for looking at minor differences, plus Bob already has you covered: ua-cam.com/video/g7im3Shi3dg/v-deo.html
@@JarrodsTech multiple results from different reviewers is always better than just one.
Maybe you can consider doing it when you need more content?
@@JarrodsTech The Omen 15 ALSO has a MUX Switch! You can access it via the Omen Command Center and by enabling "Discrete" graphics mode. Please correct this video because when you consider that the Omen 15 and Legion 5 performance are pretty much identical.
Just got the hp omen 15. However mine has a 3060 instead of a 1660 and a 5800 h instead of 4800h. I would definitely recommend! Might want to upgrade the ram depending on what you use it for.
@@animationmaniacjr do you have the same specs as in the video?
@@sanaullahsidheeq2477 mine has an R7 4800H and RTX 2060 combo, with the larger battery instead of the SATA SSD, so it's specced slightly higher.
Glad I could help!
Do you recommend either of these over the 2020 Helios 300/Triton300?
Glad that in my country, the legion 5 got the rtx and 144hz version 🤤. Definitely gonna cop on this sweet baby
Hats off to you man!
Bought the legion 5 a couple week ago and I love it. I can game and edit in adobe premier. It’s a win in my book, no regrets
Can you do a review for best laptop for Mechanical Engineer where we use heavy software like Fusion 360, Solid works, Anys etc..

Waiting for this :)
Though sad cuz amd version hard to find where i live :(, but i think i might be able to settle for intel since the legion seems so good :)
Whatever comparison i search on youtube it leads to you.dude you are a wizard
Thanks for watching!
Sincerely thankyou for always mentioning the laptop's dimensions..helps to know if it will fit or not in a backpack!
I also grew up using lenovo laptops so I'm pretty biased to legion given that it has the curved key design
also contemplating on getting the asus tuf a15 with the ryzen 9 and 2060, undervaluing it cause it's priced so cheap cause cheap cooling but also built TUF so I guess that means it'll last longer?
I also wanna wait til a stronger 15 inch legion 5 comes out and wait for it to go on sale, feel like i should have gotten the 17 inch version cause it was on sale but its out of stock now so i'm basically dying inside every day
also thanks for the dedicated review. I was waiting for the video to drop every day like how I go to the lenovo website every day
Hello, how long did you have the Legion 5?
If it does come with a defect like the screen just send it back and get a replacement or they call some tech guy to your house to see if he can fix it (probably, never called the tech guy but I guess that's what they'll do)
For context of what I used the legion 5 for, I played games like mhw with 60-80 fps on highest settings while streaming. I found that the fans wouldn't speed up for optimal cooling sometimes which worried me especially when it's on performance mode which has an automatic overclock. I don't truly understand what the numbers or overclocking means but I tested it on msi afterburner, the max clock speed It could stay at was 1800-2025 while playing mhw and battlefield 5
Whatever that means it sounds OP for a 1650ti. Anyway to fix the fan problem just restart the laptop and it'll fix itself, feels a bit tedious but I believe its needed to save the pc parts from dying early.
I also remember seeing somewhere that the legion 5 had a better reinforced hinge design than the legion 7
Besides how they are built I'm pretty sure all pc/laptops will have their own reoccurring problems until an update fixes them.

why cant I find a 1660 amd Ryzen version here in the Netherlands :( its all 1650s Feelsbadman

In conclusion: Lenovo Legion 5 > HP Omen 15
Tbh the lack of a numpad on the Omen was the decider for me, I need it for work so the Legion wins by default lol.
The smaller size of the Omen would be worth the small performance deficit.
