Finally got down to beach bum outdoors yesterday. Very impressive tackle shop. No filler items just real tackle used here along the gulf coast. Super friendly folks. For not knowing much about retail, they have the customer service and products that sell down pat. If you get a chance stop by and check them out it’s worth the visit. I even heard some guy named Brant in there telling tall tales about all these fish he catches.
The 16” whiting I caught last week was on my 5’ runt rod. I thought it was a slot red when I first saw it. I gotta save some bucks and get a L’il Bummy and put a 2500 or 3000 on it. Great video.
I have not caught a Whiting in months over here in the Navarre/Pensacola area. Used to be a pretty common catch. I wonder what changed over the past couple years. Great video man!
Most just don't tell about there size limits. Not enough meat for the effort of cleaning. I've let a Buntch of 3 foot rattlesnakes got. Not enough meat. 😮😮😮🎉 RTR!!!!
I always follow the regs, I think my wife let's the F&G folks know where I'm at, or I'm a fish cop magnet, they always find me and check up on me, because they care! Lol
whiting are so delicious, and when you get on one you get on a bunch! love the ones over 14" anything smaller than 11 is throw back to me, Awesome video though, ready for my cold weather whiting
Whiting are averaging 12-15 off central florida Atlantic coast right now. Caught 7-8 in 30 minutes the other day. Had to change bait since i was targeting pomp and couldnt reel them in fast enough
I did like the video as it reminded me of many similar days this time of year. Do you know what the water temp was? I suspect since we have had several significant cold fronts through the area the water temp in the surf near the beach is below 70 or so, and the whiting will no longer "stage" there. They may enter shallow water occasionally to feed though. Like along the edge of the beach sand bar where you found the larger ones, because those shallow waters may warm slightly during the day, especially as the tide begins rising through the afternoon. Like you said, keep trying different zones until you find them...

All the beach construction didn't help ! But once the water settles down it will make pools and eddies, and people will catch fish again around the Gulf Shores area.
